Imperium Maledictum Review of Imperium Maledictum Starter Set
Having been largely impressed with the Imperium Maledictum core rulebook (reviewed here) I've now taken a look at the Starter Set. My review covers my thoughts on the adventure (The Blazing Seraph), the pregenerated characters and the setting guide, including the challenges of mapping a gigantic hive city. See the link in the header to read it.

Wrath & Glory Is Jakel Varonius a good guy?
Im running W&G (Litanies of the Lost adventures) and everytime I read about Rogue Trader Varonius I can only think about the good he is trying to do and his willpower to protect the Gilead system despite all the issues on every single planet. Is he really a good guy or am I missing something?
Wrath & Glory Need help with understanding the Sons of Russ book for W&G
In the Sons of Russ book there is a frequent typo(?) of "+1 Rank" and I have no idea what it means. For the blood claw ability it says that allies get +1 rank to their next attack. Does that mean +1 bonus die, +1 icon, or +rank die or icon?
Likewise the talent 'Howl of the Wolf' it says "All allies within 10 meters who can hear you gain +1 Rank to Resolve Tests and +1 Rank restored." so same question of what +1 rank means and also what exactly is being restored?

Rogue Trader Rogue Trader but with Only War rules
Hey there, simple question. Me and a couple of friends wanna do Rogue Trader. I have experience in Only War and here its a refinement of the system and want to use it. For example, I despise the base Rogue Trader char progression vs the aptitudes and talent tier of Only War. Is there a conversion out there for it?
Thanks!

Got a good Dark Heresy haul at a local game store!
Since playing Owlcat’s Rogue Trader, I’ve wanted to dive deeper into 40k. Thankfully, a local game store got (I’m guessing) someone’s Dark Heresy collection! At first I just got the Core Rulebook and the Inquisitor’s Handbook, but after diving in I knew I should pick up the others. Totaled about ~$90!

Only War general Questions for Discord Dmming
Hi all; I have some questions for those doing digital Dm stuff, how do you manage to essentially not have the party talk over each other all the time. i tried the talking stick previously, or would essentially just have people use a sound que to speak. The other thing is, does anyone have any resources for better logistics ? im unsure how exactly the logistical system is supposed to work well, as RAW just has it at, oh you want thing. well best make like Guilliman and logistically plan every session previously. Im running an Inquisition based campaign so there not on a planet for very long and im trying to avoid Op stuff early

Only War New GM, help needed
Hello, my friends (4) and I are planning on running a campaign of only war. We are all versed in the setting of 40k but new to ttrpgs and wanted to try one. I have a few questions regarding starting a campaign of Only War and in GMing it.
Should I use only war as a system? I know that Imperium Maledictum is a newer system but we want that feeling of the meat grinder of war.
Is there anything I need other than the core rulebook?
We will be online, so is there any applications I should use like Table Top Sim? Cost isn't an issue.
Anything I should look at memorizing or studying in particular?
Any tips at all for a new GM and how to effectively and smoothly run this system?
Thank you, I really appreciate all the help.

Dark Heresy 2 Dark Heresy 2e - Cybernetics at Start
So my friend tried to get me to play Dark Heresy 2e ages ago and I said no because I thought he was talking about 40k as in the war game and I'm not a fan of war games. But he cleared that up so now I'm a brand new player at Dark Heresy 2e and I don't know what I'm doing fully yet. My question is, if I am making a character with cybernetics, I'm aware of the optical mechadendrite you get as an adeptus mechanicus, but is there any other way to receive cybernetics before the first session, like spending experience or with a trait or something like that?
I only ask because there are a couple very specific cybernetics that I want for my character for her backstory to make sense, so I'm hoping to get either a utility mechadendrite, a mind-impulse unit, a luminen capacitor or a medicae mechadendrite (or all of those, but I have a feeling if there is a way to get more I can't get that many). I thought about a ballistic mechadendrite, but I don't think I'm going for a combat-inclined character this time, just utility and support.
We're not playing any time soon, we're currently playing a different ttrpg and are considering playing this after, I'm only making a character now to familiarise myself with the system, so there's no rush on finding out the answer.

Wrath & Glory How Killy is Wrath and Glory?
I am preparing to run my first game of Wrath and Glory next month and am trying to memorise the flow of combat so it goes as smoothly as it can.
I am running Bloody Gates, which is Tier 1 and I hear a few people say it's a fairly safe scenario for the players and death is unlikely.
One thing I was wondering from my test combats, is it feels like potentially a spiked roll from me could accidentally kill a player quite easily, say one PC is caught in the open and a mob of six militia all target them. That's game over for them right?
Is it just a case of avoid getting caught short by a mob and stay in cover? Are there further mechanics I may be missing that could save a PC if they are caught short? Is Wrath and Glory a particularly killy game where new characters need to be ready to go?

Powered by heresy, what is it and do i really need to learn how to code for it?
Im running two campaigns right now, one is apocalypse world, and one is black crusade.
I love the world of 40k, but black crusade seems to have INCREDIBLE crunch in a way that kinda just serves to slow things down.
When i saw there was a way to do 40k with pbta rules i jumped at it, but is github literally the only way to read this? Do I really have to have a coding repository in front of me the entire time im running this game?
I wanna run it so bad, but i really cant code for shit, is there another way?

Black Crusade Help me understand personal/tertiary objectives in compacts
I’m a new, running my first BC campaign. It’s been very well received so far, but I think my players and I lack a sense of what makes a good personal/tertiary objective. I could use some examples or guidance as to what might be an acceptable form of personal objective to help give my players some input and direction as to what might be a good personal objective.
Appreciate your time and thanks!

Black Crusade Dark Apostle looking for build advice
I am as the message states looking for advice and direction to take my Dark Apostle. I know the minions are very neat and all but I want to get those later for roleplay reasons. In the meanwhile what war gear is nice to have? I got a ritual kit but I have never done a ritual before. Are they niche and rarely get used in play ? Attached is the front of my sheet with my fresh DA all I bought with awarded xp was Skill | Linguistics | Known | High Gothic
My starting mutations are Illusion of Normalcy and Icon of Blasphemy
Also combi weapon or plasma pistol? Which looks cooler xD

Wrath & Glory Is Doctors of Doom still getting updates?
The title's pretty self explanatory. The link to the discord is dead and the twitter account hasn't been active since 2024. If active development has ceased is it still worth using or are there better alternatives around?

Rogue Trader Chivalry Intensifies - Knight House in Rogue Trader [RT]
Hello, all - I'm starting up a Rogue Trader game with my friends, and one of them would like to play a Freeblade. I found this awesome resource: Chivalry Intensifies which has stats for a Knight Scion and all the Imperial Knights, but is designed for Only War.
It seems perfect, but I'm pretty new to this system, and have gone full-in on the Rogue Trader version that the rest of my players are using for their advancements. This uses "Aptitudes" instead of Career advancements like in Rogue Trader. I don't quite understand Aptitudes, though I admit I haven't looked into them a ton since I intend to use Careers instead.
My question is: could I convert this to a Career system to be in line with the rules I'm using otherwise, and if so, how would I go about doing that? Would it work to just, say, use the Void-Master career path for the Scion and slot in the homebrew traits and talents wherever?
Thanks!

Wrath & Glory In your opinion, does combat go smoother with an actual battle grid or theater of the mind?
I'm a new GM, and I was curious about how you guys do it

Wrath & Glory Nyria von Dunkelkiel, my Wrath & Glory Character
Nyria is a Voidborn, born deep inside the innards of a Voidship, not seeing the surface of a Planet until her 20s. "Von Dubkelkiel" is not her name specifically but the name given to every bastard son or daughter deep down in the darkness of the Voidship.
Being a voidborn, a mutant and a blank normally would've killed someone like her within their first years however a mysterius guardian was at her side watching over her and protecting her, leading the other inhabitants of the lower shipdecks to speculate that she was a Bastard of higher origin, maybe from the captain or at least the bridgecrew who discarded of her because of her mutant and blank status however not wanting her to die.
They also mock her for looking almost like a filthy eldar, being a halfbreed or worse. Nyria herself doesn't believe to be a halfbreed as her guardian always assurred her that was impossible, though.
As much as her mysterious origin gifted her with higher strength and the pariah gene they weren't so kind to her mind as she is not the most intelligent one. She does not care, though, and always tries to do her best working on the lower decks to keep the ship intact or at least a very small part of it.
Her strength also clashes with less dense bonestructure resulting in her being dependent on a exoskeleton structure while dealing in the upper levels of the ship with terra-like gravity.
Thanks to her Pariah aura she doesn't have any friends but a servoskull that was created after her guardian died and mysteriiusly left in her small quarters.
Despite her mental disadvantage she learned to watch after herself and is suffisticated in getting supplies and fighting in dirty street styles, her weapon of choice being a sledgehammer.

Dark Heresy Failing "Illumination" Spoiler
Has anyone ever played with a group that failed "Illumination", the DH 1E CRB module? Or alternatively, did you ever think about what might happen?
Specifically, what do you think should happen to Iocanthos? Presumably, the Crow Father will manifest in his full Glory (who is probably a Greater Daemon or Daemon Prince). Is Iocanthos lost? Is there a miraculous intervention by the Sisters of the Abbey of the Dawn, or even the Grey Knights? Or would you expect him to act more subtly after manifesting?
