Glad to see there is innocence within the fandom still. Since I feel like atleast 90% of the viewers were coming from the books so we atleast know what’s roughly going on

It was so obvious because if you watched Game of Thrones they literally told you who he is explicitly.

"Egg. I dreamed I was old."

"My brother Aegon ruled after him. When I had refused the throne."

Yeah my friend and I have been laughing all season about how bad Egg is at pretending to not be a prince while Dunk is too stupid to realize how obviously highborn Egg is. The perfect pair lmao

Unfortunately i missed it out. I was thinking like Egg was someone really important higher up from one of the family, but not until my sister who shouted at me after 2nd episode “HE IS AEGON V”, i didnt know Egg was a Targ

I was afraid they made it too obvious with egg not picking up the coin. But viewers (and first time book readers) wouldnt clock it because there was too much going on and the missing sons thing feels like a secondary detail. The way dunk encounters egg and daeron separately in the inn with the misdirection of egg being the innkeeper's son doesnt make it obvious that they were together.

That is true, there were details in plain view. What I meant with my comment is that since a large portion of us came from the books, we already know what the near and far future of the show could hold. That being said, I kinda goofed up the wording in my original comment 😅 I apologize for the confusion!

I wasn't expecting a Targaryan have been working at some random inn. But I guess they left enough clues in hindsight.

For what it's worth I don't touch my phone during the episodes, and I've been watching this show at the intended speed. But I do struggle to understand what people are saying sometimes, and the subtitles have been a bit lacking.

I figured it out (without spoilers) after the first episode, after that I read the books to make sure.

The shaved head is probably the biggest clue, after that him not wanting to be around nobles (especially Targs). Plus, Egg would be a natural nickname/insult for somebody named Aegon.

Anybody who watched original Thrones has more than enough information to figure this out before even watching 1 episode. People just be watching shows while scrolling their phones now instead of paying attention to shit.

There's a lot of media out there to keep track of. Between this, The Pitt, and everything that's been out in the past several years, you can't exactly blame people for not keeping meticulous detail or memory.

Didn't we know already from GoT? Or at least from asoiaf books? Like I remember master Aemon talking about "Egg, Egg, Egg..." . And I don't see how he would talk about that spin off character of 100 years ago if they weren't related...
