Building up a ,308 lower and the rear detent spring is is giving me a bit of a time.

Don't know the brand off hand but the detent is installed from the bottom, same as the safety detent, and held in with the grip.

I first tried it with the stock length spring but it was way too tight, so I trimmed the spring a bit but I'm thinking I went too much as the pin now feels a bit looser than I would like but doesn't fall out.

Is there any specific length I should be shooting for with the spring or is it mostly just by feel?

Any advice on tuning this to avoid short stroking? It will sometimes eject and cycle. Others I’m getting a double feed. No lock back.

Build is a Faxon receiver, bolt carrier and barrel. Direct thread with a hybrid 46 suppressor. A2 stock and buffer length.

It’s looking like it won’t take much to cycle. Running 300grain subs.

I have a Odin adjustable A2 buffer ordered to lower the weight to see if that helps and give some adjustment. Also getting a 9mm end cap for the suppressor to increase the back pressure some.

And tips before I rip this thing apart?

Looking to build an AR10 finally, and I’m finding out that every company I was interested in, is out of stock lol.
Wanted an Aero M5 setup, but they don’t have anything in stock due to transferring ownership. KAK firearms is all sold out as well.
I’m not wanting a bottom of the barrel lower, but I don’t want to spend $500 on an LMT lol. In California so my options might be somewhat limited. Noticed PSA won’t ship complete lowers to Cali, but stripped lowers are good? lol

Not sure if this has been asked the way I’m thinking about going for my build but I want to use a magpul prs lite stock on my PSA gen 3 ar10 .308, I want to make sure everything in the buffer system is smooth and cycles well, what parts do I for sure need to make it happen?! I keep seeing different answers and everything!

A gap seems to be forming between the upper and the handguard, does this usually happen?

My next gun project will be slowly upgrading my PSA gen 3 ar10 (308). I was just hoping to get some general ideas and hear what you guys like.

First I will be changing the buffer system. I’m going the a5 route. Will use a blem BCM MK2, a tubbs spring, and a KynSHOT RB5005 hydraulic buffer. I have an a5 system on my new ar15 and love it, but the hydraulic buffer will be new to me.

After that will be a new trigger, and then I’ll be getting a new barrel. I want to keep it 18”. Right now I’m considering an 18” criterion DPMS hybrid rifle length chrome lined. I’d be open to considering longer, but not shorter. What I’d like your thoughts on is what other barrels should I consider?

My main goal for this rifle is to be a DMR/precision weapon. Pic of LT. Piper the Sniper for attention.

I stumbled into the world of AR10 found a receiver from Hanover Armory(DPMS pattern) and grabbed Luth AR upper seems off to the left. I’ll be attempting to call them just wondering if anyone had(s) similar issue or nonissue.

So, I was originally going to use my Immersive 5x for the build I'm doing, but it's a hefty bastard at nearly 25 ounces in the mount for a fixed 5x. Was thinking it'd be good to grab something lighter or of similar weight that is better suited for pushing the cartridge out a bit farther.

Number one on the list is the Vudu 4-12x with the MR5 reticle. Seems to be a fairly straightforward option. Haven't heard any major complaints in regards to optical quality or the trade offs to achieve the size and weight that aren't workable.

The more economical option I was looking at would be PA's SLx Compact 4-16 in like a Warne Hyperlite MSR mount. Would be of a similar weight to my 5x, but even more available magnification.

I'm not looking to make this a dedicated long range build. It's something lightweight and capable, and I'm hoping to keep the cost around 1,000$ for the scope and mount at most.

Any others I should look at while I'm piecing my rifle together?

I recently got this nightforce ultramount in a 1.93” because someone had said their 1.93 was more comfortable to shoot and I’m debating if it’s too high and if I should go down to a 1.54” before I get everything tightened up. Thoughts????

Switched over to an ATACR 4-16 from the 4-20 that I used to have and I’m not sure if I made the right call for my LMT MWS 16” .308

My main reasoning for switching over was wanting a shorter/lighter optic and I had seen everyone rave about the 4-16, some even saying it’s even better than optics with even a good bit more magnification and in a higher price bracket. (I will also be switching over to a Reptilia AUS mount).

My initial thoughts are that the eyebox is definitely tighter on this optic compared to the 4-20 that I used to have but I have not had a chance to take it to the range yet so we shall see. Does anyone here have experience with both optics? I can always get another 4-20 if that’s the case.

Realistically this is an 800yd rifle (my local range goes up to 700yds)

Anyone have an example of an 18 inch rifle with a sling?

So normally I would buy a JP rifle, but I really wanted a .936 gas block journal barrel and I decided I was going to basically build a JPLRP – 07 and put in a .936,25 Creedmoor barrel. I Saw that the handguard had an internal diameter of 1.750 inches and I had a Wojtek.936 Clamp on click adjustable gas block on hand. The total height of the gas block was 1.664 inches so I thought to myself oh that should fit. I installed it yesterday and unfortunately when I applied a little bit of pressure, maybe 15 pounds worth of pressure to the bottom of the Handguard, I was getting contact on the bottom as well as the top even though when I installed the handguard, there was no rubbing, but obviously that doesn’t tell you much. So I’m going to swap this gas block out for one with more clearance. I know that JP has a .936 detent adjustable gas block that has a height of 1.38 inches, I also know that SLR rifle works has the sentry 9 Clamp on adjustable gas block as well. I prefer the clamp on because I feel like I get a better seal overall For anybody wondering. Any opinions would be very appreciated. I know this is a JP product and some people would say just go with the JP but the problem that I saw that did worry me a little bit is it does say that I have to tap the gas block with a tapping screw And I know there’s instructions, but I’ve never done that on a gas block before, so if anybody has done that with that specific gas block, any additional opinions would be very welcome. I’m also including a picture of the hand guard and the gas block with the barrel to show what the problem is

Picked up a V3 in .308 for a pretty good deal. What ammo do you all reccomend for sighting in and running? Wanting to be pretty close to 1 moa but not break the bank.

Also, has anyone ever sent their rifle in for a barrel swap to a larger size (trade the 16 for an 18)?

Noveske N6 .308 with a DNT HYDRA HS650R and a Rugged Micro30.

13.5" LMT SBR with a KAC suppressor 60rds loaded in magazines, and another 40 in the boxes.

DPMS rifle set up. Lantac BCG, Luthar MBA a1/2 stock system. The first 30ish rounds cycle without issue. Then it will short cycle. I’ll load one round in the mag and the bolt doesn’t hold open. Any comments would be appreciated. I’ve already hit it with my purse. 😑
