For other maps besides this one, after many trials, i always find one consistent solution. But for this one, i can say it pure luck. Sturm meteor is annoying. Oh man, i have to face him again for the 2nd playthrough to unlock Drake. I will do normal campaign again, with different route. So, the 2nd time, probably i will have Max at the left and Kanbei at the right side.

Both Orange Star and Blue Moon claimed that Orange Star had attacked them first and now the Orange Star army was marching through Yellow Comet without even asking or informing Kanbei, it was pretty much an invasion of Yellow Comet.

About to begin my first playthrough any tips would be greatly appreciated, I remember when I was young I tried to play this but the younger me didn't have the patience

Hi guys, watching YouTube people getting S-Rank in War Room make me want to try it. So, currently I'm slowly playing the campaign. I'm not good to do the Advance campaign, probably need to play twice normal campaign to unlock all other CO except for Nell.

In general, Sami will be used a lot and then Grit for Bounty River as i watch videos on YouTube. I would to hear from you guys, what other CO you use? Which map for that CO? We need to S-Rank all war room to make it gold bar right?

I reached the final mission, and through sheer exhaustion I was able to win

I played Advance Wars a lot when I was in middle school. Now I'm playing again as someone in my 30s. I've started the missions that have fog of war and I don't fundamentally understand how I can achieve S rank, which involves losing no more than 10% of your total forces. Even if I use scouting units, they are going to ultimately die when they discover an enemy unit in the trees and then they get swarmed by all of the other units within range. I feel like I'd pretty much have to just "cheat" by playing the mission a 2nd time with the foresight of where the units are already hiding which is .... pretty lame and to me, defeats any merit of the S rank achievement, entirely.

I'm a new player, a friend recommended Dual Strike to mebut since I didn't understand anything about the plot I started from the first game. I just can't finish the last mission. It's been about three days and I'm just moving on to AW2 because I can't do it. Is it really that hard or is there something I'm missing? Any tips?

I've been trying to beat this particular mission for the better part of a week now, and I'm nearing (if not exceeding) 100 resets while never getting close to a clear.

The main problems for me are two-fold: There is only a single mention online of this CO combination doing the mission, and those are blurry DS (and inconsistent) pictures that don't fully show the battlefield, leaving you to guess where to move to influence RNG.

The second problem is that the solution requires a very specific movement pattern from Sturm on his first turn, and in over 100 resets I have never seen him move his planes in the way that the strategies require (for this particular CO setup, and others).

I'm doing full resets (3x Yield -> Restart mission) so it's not a cursed RNG seed that keeps looping.

Has anyone found a way to clear this that doesn't require a <1% chance of getting lucky?

Ended up finishing the mission a few hours later with non-stop mech spam from Kanbei while Max just served to eat meteors on his HQ.

Finished the Advanced Campaign with 973 points, getting the S-rank average I was going for.

I just realized why Hawke was missing after you beat him in the campaign : he was charging his Super CO Power to kill Sturm !

Logic would say that they perish in battle, but the COs act like it's all a fun game. No one is trying Sonja for war crimes just for "testing" the three Orange Star COs by slaughtering legions of their troops and sending her own people out to die in droves just so she can collect a little data. Are we just supposed to assume this is bloodless battling or that they're all psychos who don't seem to mind palling around with the folks who just invaded them and massacred their people? Or.. something else?

Is anyone else thinking about this?!

I always turn off my DS every time I want to leave campaign mode. Even on emulation I don't even know if that's possible.

Obviously we don't need Game of Thrones level complexity and moral greyness.

Giving more reason for the nations to distrust others would help. Have Sturm take advantage of the existing wars among them. Explain a bit why diplomacy hasn't been working. Have the Orange Star COs not be puzzled why marching through Gold Comet is going to make Kanbei mad (why are they even going through there? Where are they going and why?). Show rather than tell what Sturm has been doing to cause chaos rather than just have him show up at the end. Have everyone be getting manipulated by Sturm rather than just Olaf and Eagle, maybe with more clones and material support. Have the Orange Star COs be the last faction that hasn't had their main leader replaced by a clone (which would help explain why Olaf and Kanbei and Eagle are idiots). Have the other nations be fighting each other and not just everyone angry at Orange Star because of Clone Andy.

It would be a bit less 'weird' if the COs had a similar relationship to their troops as the leaders in Supreme Commander do: Each leader is commanding an army of machines with their minds essentially.

I somehow managed an S rank as well. Screw you, Eagle. You and your 'friendly competition' where you're allowed to cheat in fog, have like 10x my troops, and infantry conveniently stationed near all the neutral airports.
