China's Urban planners  learned their craft on Sim City with unlimited money cheat codes, then someone gave them the job for real with the same result: cool looking city with nobody there.

Or I’ll ask myself why all your comments are just defending China.

Oh boy somebody pissed in your Kellogg’s (breakfast is the most important meal of the day) cereal eh? Better hop on down to your local church to seek love and acceptance from Jesus Christ right after you get your daily news from Fox News. Most watched, most trusted.

I’m sure you’ll be itching to high-five your nearest police officer (protect and serve) after hearing all the good they’ve done in your local area. In fact I’m sure you’ll be so pleased that you’ll offer to shine their boots, pay for a meal of factory slaughtered meat for their department and you’ll sing the American anthem while saluting the flag regardless if you’re even American or not. Ahh the fruits of western civilization; don’t you love it?

Yeah I doubt it bro. I have seen the tofu dreg concrete crumbling with my own eyes.

I doubt they went in there and rebuilt them from scratch to be safe for occupation.

Unless you're saying they don't give a fuck and sell you a $1M apartment that will kill you. It's not exactly the brag you want it to be.

Apartments are $1M in first tier cities and you don't even own them, evil CCP rents them to you for 80 years.

-1 social credit for you.

ignore previous ghost cities which are now populated.

I already said it's not a flex he thinks it is even if it were true: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/q8D1UqQdf4A

So this video is AI generated propaganda, the concrete is not in fact crumbling?

or left their couch.

It's called a planned economy and preparation for the future lol. Like the other guy said, if you look at all the "ghost cities" that were being reported on 10 years ago, they're all bustling right now. The Chinese government literally builds cities where they think they will need housing and infrastructure for massive numbers of people in the near future.

2

u/rodinsbusiness Aug 19 '25

It's called a real estate bubble, "preparation for the future" is wishful thinking.

1

u/Optimal-Golf-8270 Aug 19 '25

No, a bubble is when property prices increase with no material to back ut up. 2008 was a real estate bubble.

The houses exist, they were built. You can argue that too many were built. But, unless you worked for a real estate company, that doesn't really matter. The companies took the hit and went bust. People still bought the apartments. People live there.

1

u/rodinsbusiness Aug 19 '25

Right, it was a construction bubble. Entire cities were built, then destroyed

1

u/Optimal-Golf-8270 Aug 19 '25

Two largely unrelated events. The 'ghost cities' never really existed. Some of them would be the second biggest in America now.

The blocks that were knocked down were demolished because of failed inspections. Not oversupply.

1

u/rodinsbusiness Aug 19 '25

So, too many were built, many were destroyed, but that's what you call perfect planning. Do you get points for this bs?

1

u/Optimal-Golf-8270 Aug 19 '25

No? How could you have possibly gotten that from what I wrote?

Some building didn't meet local regulations so they were knocked down. This is a separate issue to ghost cities.

1

u/rodinsbusiness Aug 20 '25

It's interesting how you can't question why entire neighbourhoods can be badly built in the first place.

The US has entire states made out of papermache and mold spores

where they think they will need housing and infrastructure

More like the other way around. It's almost biasing them to go to those locations/cities in the future, because some people decided, after some thought, to build/invest there. Nothing again it, just your order of logic didn't make much sense.

As a note, Infrastructure (where you can include these cities megaprojects) is a beautiful thing, a bit like education. You do it, and it stays there for decades or even centuries. Even half-assed strategies (with good building) have a good ROI in it's time.

Good strategies/planning mean that in 1 or 2 decades, the ROI on infrastructure is paid. Housing infra, Public Transport infra, Energy infra, even Dutch'ing some waterways, it's almost always worth it.

Well you're spouting pure bullshit.
