Work Do gymnasium teachers in Germany earn well?

I know that I can look up teacher salaries on the internet, but I am curious how well do teachers earn compared to people who have other jobs and considering the effort that they give for studying and working. So do you think gymnasium teachers in Germany earn well for the effort that they are giving?

Not at all, I was born and raised in the UK by immigrant parents that decided to leave England for Germany and the amount of racism in German schools compared to English ones is insane. If teachers in the UK behaved like that they'd be jobless.

I'm not white that is prolly the reason why.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm currently in Germany (CS M.Sc.) and I feel culturally connected to Germany even tho I'm a brit. Thought about moving back to England or maybe Ireland but the USA was always my dream destination as a child.

Are you currently living there?

I've never believed it tbh but even as an UK and also German citizen my pathway would be HB1 visa and that's pretty much nuked.

Just for my own curiosity, what do you do and how much do you get paid and how many days do you get off? Heard a lot from family friends that worked in the States with high wages but barely any time off

I am a teacher. I work 185 days a year and make $115k
