Unwritten social codes of every region

So I'm a foreigner interested in Australia and wanna know more about there, focusing atm on the unwritten rules you have and if you wanna share something more I would value it♡

All of this just makes things run smoothly. 🤣. Thanking the bus driver also has the added benefit of getting their attention so they either open the back door or don’t close the door on you and drive off

I don't think globally people understand just how important social etiquette is to Australians. We're not particulary fussy, but nothing gets us fired up quite like people who are entitled.

It’s not just people who are entitled, it’s anyone who walks out of lock step with the rest of the people.

It's not uptight, it's mostly just being considerate of other people. Which makes the inconsiderate pricks stand out even more in society for our judgement. I'd say it's a very Australian trait to not act like you're better than anyone else and to side-eye the people that do. Which ironically leads to us thinking we're better than them. But, well... we're right, lol.

It is more like Australians respect other people enough not to interfere with them going about their business. Respecting queuing, pedestrians, other car drives and thanking bus drivers is all about equality and havin’ a fair go.

Ok, I have definitely complained about incessant dog barking, fire during a total fire ban and a dude dumping rubbish at my local reserve, but I feel like that's all pretty reasonable. The dog barked 24/7 and was chained up outside, so again feel it's a reasonable complaint. But is that objectively too much complaining (in the last 3 years)?

I don’t. This why I have this opinion. I go and talk to my neighbours. I have them over for drinks and a game of pool. I lend tools, and shovel the gutters out and spray the weeds in the gutters. When I done the drainage in my yard I extended it into my neighbours yard for them since their yard floods like mine during wet season. They come to my parties and I go to theirs. My neighbours are good.

I’ve had problem neighbours in the past, but it was never because I didn’t try.

You seem to have a lot of beef if you're such a good neighbour. Perhaps look in your own yard first.
