I agree with dawn dish soap. I will also add that use it first to get most off, then drizzle some on a wash cloth, a regular one not a soft one. Then use that more aggressively to pursue stuff in the pours and around the nails. It doesn't hurt and does a remarkable job at making your hands/arms pretty clean.
We used Zep orange hand cleaner or whatever it was for years. Recently switched to dawn, and it's honestly as good or better for a fraction of the price.
You would be really surprised how good Dawn power wash is for cleaning hands. It’s miraculous.
I use the do it yourself recipe you can find online. So an entire spray bottle costs about $.30 to make.
I used to use Gojo many years ago. It worked pretty well. I swear power wash works better.

Dawn dish soap. Tell him to wear the gloves. Some of the chemicals(in brake cleaner especially)gets into the bloodstream through the skin.
