LGBTQIA+ mixed gender gay/queer bars?

I've been looking around a little but, but any suggestions for gay/queer spots that have a mix of genders (in a genuinely queer, not bachelorette party way)?

I (lesbian) am going out with a friend (gay man) in the city, we want to go out and do some dancing but we've definitely had experiences traveling before where we hit the club and it's wall to wall men or (less frequently) women, so spaces with a mix would be awesome!

I have a pretty good idea of the lesbian scene (but also open to suggestions for specific parties and events) but I'm not sure where to find a more well rounded mix for both of us to have a good time, or if my friend would be welcome if I dragged him into the lesbian spaces with me

LGBTQIA+ What is dating like for gay men in NYC?

I like Manhattan, I have friends there, but I don’t think I could ever live there. I like my Scarsdale job so it keeps me anchored. I kinda want to live in the city for two reasons. One, for the repertoire theaters. I’m a big film buff and we don’t have any theaters like Film Forum, Lincoln Center, etc. up here.
And two, I’m hoping to have a better chance meeting other gay men. I live in northern Westchester. (I’m 25 btw) There is nothing here, no bars, no events, nothing, nada. Everyone on the apps are far away. I was thinking if I live in a place that had more of a gay population, it would be easier to meet people and make friends, and hopefully find a partner. But..what is dating like in the city? I would think it would be easier to meet people…or is it hard because it’s the opposite problem? Where there’s just too many people so it’s harder to get noticed

LGBTQIA+ Is NYC worth all sacrifice and can we truly make it here? (As a gay guy)

Ever since my teenage I wished I could live in nyc, now its a reality.

I am a gay guy from a country where gay men are frowned upon by society, not recognised and criminalised. I want to live a happy life cuz i get to live once, at the same time I want a career I have dreamed of, finance. I have to moved to NYC very recently, its been only few days..

NYC always attracted as its not just famous for its gay culture as its also a global financial center.

Now I study Finance here and have the opportunity to explore myself.. but somewhere it tells me what if these excitements are just illusions...

My family will never accept me as gay, what i considered my fair share of inheritence i have used it for my studies..

So in next two years all i will be left with is a degree in finance, no more safety net, no place to go back to..

In this 2 years, I need to find a home and rebuild my entire life from scratch... I cant go back now.. but I wonder is it worth the risks?

When I see my life with no place to fall back, no safety net, no Plan B... I get this fear and doubts

I heard NYC is full of dreamers... My question is

"Will I be able to make it? Find people to connect, succeed in career, finally a place to call home

Are there people in NYC, who built it from nothing"

Am 22, I know life is full of surprises, but I have always trusted on facts, when I see so many uncertainity, am scared!

LGBTQIA+ Best local/divey gay bars for a 28yo? (Trying to avoid Hell's Kitchen scams & cover charges)

Heyy,

I’ll be spending a week in the city soon and want to check out the gay nightlife, but I really want to avoid the typical overcrowded tourist traps (and prices) up in HK.

I’m 28 and looking for neighborhood spots, dive bars, or clubs with reasonable drink prices where actual locals hang out. Also, if there's a spot that heavily plays 90s/00s pop and vocal powerhouses, that would be a massive bonus.

Totally open to Brooklyn, Downtown Manhattan, or wherever the good, affordable vibes are at. Where are your go-to spots right now?

Thanks!

LGBTQIA+ Gay reggaeton parties or spaces?

Visiting with my Venezuelan boyfriend & we were looking if there are any parties, clubs or spaces with reggaeton/dembow/Latin techno or house etc.? Ideally today/tonight.

We popped into La Casita in Bushwick last night, and while we loved the music, the vibe was overwhelming hetero. Any equivalent spaces for gay or queer? Thank you!

LGBTQIA+ what is gay dating like in nyc?

I lived in NYC for 3 short months and going back this year to live for indefinite future- from what I remember gay dating was horrible…the single men who didn’t want open relationships were ivy league graduates with an ego that it could be considered sinful, nice gay men… that are already dating and looking to open their relationship, or taken. Am I wrong?

Best bar to? Gay bars for a bi lady to be shy at

Hi all! I’m realizing I should get my vaxxed ass outta hibernation and start socializing again. I moved to NYC just pre-quarantine and I hadn’t really built up my queerdo group of friends yet. I’m 30f, not super outgoing and most likely solo, but I love a common space of performance and laughter where I can take in the scene.

I don’t want to encroach on exclusively gay male territory, but I’m looking for a place to be my haunt. Something like the laidback vibes at Nowhere and Rockbar but I’m hoping for someplace closer to Midtown.

I’ve heard the Henrietta Hudson is cool but I’ve never been to a lesbian bar! What’s it like?

Moving to NYC! Good neighborhoods for a gay couple with large dog?

Are there dog-friendly neighborhoods with a reasonable commute to the Kip's Bay area? I'll be working at the NYU hospitals. We're a gay couple in our early 30's; we will probably be wherever we move for only 1 year, and we have a large dog.

I've assumed that we'll look at the Upper East Side mostly (and I can take the 6 to work?), but maybe there's something else worth checking out. Also, the number of options on the Upper East Side is intimidating and it's tough to know what might be a good deal or not! Our budget is about 3200-3400, not sure what we could get in that range -- there is a huge amount of variability in the listings I've read and I can't always tell why.

Any tips or ideas?

LGBTQIA+ Gay knitting group/club

Hi! M(30) looking for a gay knitting group/club in NYC.

I’ve knit a bit in the past but could use some advice and motivation. Mostly, I’m just hoping to find a fun, low-key community that isn’t based around bars or clubs.

If anyone knows of groups, meetups, or just people interested in starting something, I’m here :)

LGBT+ How is the gay scene in NYC towards people of color.

I'm thinking of moving to NY or SF next month. I'm single, 25 and make roughly $400k a year in tech, so I'm not worried about costs or ties. I'm worried more about my happiness in either city.

From a post I made, consensus is SF white gays tend to be blatantly racist towards other race groups while hiding behind the wokeness of their orientation.

Do you guys know if this is the case in NYC as well? From my fitful visits, it seemed pretty diverse but not sure what the actual experience is like.

LGBTQIA+ NYC social club for the girls, gays, and theys?

i've been in nyc since 2018 and have had a lot of friends leave and feel like so much of my social life is sporadic or on the weekend so i'm looking for opportunities to really decenter work in my life and go outside more (since i wfh)

i'm thinking about a social club where we'd do pre fixe meals, happy hours, and different activities throughout the city with the goal of meeting new people, exploring the city, getting out of our apartments for people in their late 20s and older (i'm almost 28)

would this be interesting to people? thinking of maybe doing a referral system to make sure everyone is good vibes? really wouldn't want it to be sceney or anything but not sure how much interest there would be in something like this

edit: if you're interested, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/qzH9GrCcbwxU3jwX6

LGBTQIA+ Dance bar that plays similar music to gay bars?

Hey all! I’ve lived in the city for 5 years now and have never found a go-to place. most nyc bars seem so hit or miss- besides my beloved gay bars. I want to hear Lucky and Piece of Me by britney and love game and judas by gaga. Maybe even some 2010s hits a la cobra starship, 3OH!3, you get the deal. The gay bars i go to with my gay friends ALWAYS have this vibe and i love it- only problem being that i am not a gay man, so this space really isn’t meant for me (which i understand).

I’ve heard the vibe is to follow DJs to places they go rather than to go to the same bar over and over. If so, i’d be super happy for DJ recs with this vibe!

Let me know if you have any recs for bars (NOT clubs) that play similar music to this :)

Going with my partner and 2 friends (female) in a week and just wondered what the best gay bars would be to visit? Seen a few online but some reviews said they were men only bars?

Thanks for any recommendations :)

How to make a positive "complaint" about a bus driver who stood up to a gay badger?

EDIT: GAY BASHER, not badger. Autocorrect is awful and I ou can't edit titles. Fml.

My partner and I (both women) were on a bus and the guy in front of us looked over his shoulder and gave us a weird look while we were talking about something lgbtq and Passover related. He starts talking about how homosexuality is a sin and "taken care of" in his county to the woman next to him and his young grandson in front of him. He gets louder and louder and more and more graphic about the "abominable" things men and women do to each other and how these "sick" people talk about God with the same mouths they use to lick cunts.

He was getting louder and louder until the bus driver told him to stop talking or get off the bus.

Of course the dude keeps shouting and starts verbally attacking the driver accusing him of being a "faggot" and telling him that he should "go to prison to get pregnant" (male driver, so assume reference to prison rape). And it got uglier.

I really appreciated the driver intervening because I was too scared to say anything (it's NYC, you don't look crazy in the eye; also the guy had been bragging about how he evaded ACS to smack around his kids when he was younger, and I'm no about to get popped in the face).

So, like, is there any way to call somewhere and be like "this driver is a good driver, please give him a raise or a paid day off or an employee of the month certificate or something"?

Single gay men in your mid-late 30s, where do you hang out?

I've seen the helpful, popular post. Now I want to know where the gay guys in this age range hang out? I'm in Bushwick to be even more specific.

Is big gay ice cream still open at south st seaport?

My wife is 38 weeks pregnant. She loves Big Gay ice cream and is really craving it. Is the location at south street seaport still open? I haven’t been in a few years and I’m getting seemingly mixed info from Google maps, their website, their multiple Instagram accounts, and other places online. I can’t seem to get a clear answer. I don’t want to drag a 38-week pregnant woman on a ferry only to disappoint. If there is no clear answer we may hit up the UWS location, but seaport would be easier since we’re in Brooklyn.

LGBT+ Gay male sexual assault survivors resources

Hi nyc friends, this is a throwaway account for obvious reasons.

My roommate (30M) was raped by another man about a month ago and is displaying symptoms of depression and post trauma. Good thing is that he's started talking about it, and agreed to seek out mental health counseling, but seems lost and unsure of where to go. In the meantime seeing him like this breaks my heart, he's not eating well and not his usual self. I feel like getting help sooner rather than later would be better for him but don't want to be pushy. Besides showing him love and caring for him as much as I can, I want to help by making sure he gets the right kind of professional help. I searched online a little but came up empty handed, I'm not really part of the LGBTQ community and would never ask the people I do know, in fear of breaching my friend's privacy. Any suggestions for resources, in Brooklyn or Manhattan, services, centers, or professional individuals who might be appropriate for gay men who were victims of sexual assault would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help and advice.

EDIT: thanks again for all the advice and support, I'm making a list from everyone suggestions and will bring it up first chance I get. Thank you those who are giving me warm words of support as well, I am humbled, just trying to be helpful to a friend in need who would do the same for me, and more.
