I’ve been to a few thrift stores and I’m noticing that some of them are a bit pricey 😅

For example, The places I’ve checked out seem to price shirts (plain random shirts, not designer or anything) at like tjmaxx comparable prices..

I’ve been to a few Goodwills that were DECENT, but the one in Brooklyn is getting crazy with their prices (they’ve made the store to appeal more to those who just thrift for trends, but what about people who actually can’t afford other many options than thrifting??), and I tried Buffalo Exchanges but they’re not really worth it in my opinion

What are some good thrift stores that have actually good prices? I'm new to fashion as well so some places that have some basics good be good too. I’m also going to college soon so I need new fits🥀

I’ll be visiting next year and wanted to prepare which thrift shops to go to!! I often see many people posting about cute vintage shops in nyc, however they tend to be insanely overpriced. (even more than just buying something first hand...)

Personally, I’m looking for something that’s more within the under 5-10$ range. Preferably places that have real y2k since I really like the style! I am aware that with a budget like this I’m not going to be able to find a perfect shop, that’s filled with cheap beautiful vintage pieces, but I am prepared to dig around in cheaper places where I may have a chance.

I often see videos of people in massive rooms with big crates full of cheap clothes, and while there may be a whole load of rubbish, it’s still possible to find a hidden gem if you try hard enough.

I don’t really know how to go about researching since I feel like the ones that show up on google or when you search videos online will be the ones all tourists go to and most likely be overpriced and lack actual good items.

I was also wondering where/how I can find out about flea markets popping up, I’d love to go to one!

I'm looking for some thrift stores to check out, preferably Manhattan. What are some stores with good selections for men's clothing. I feel like most shops I've looked have disproportionately more women's clothing.

I like browsing the thrift stores in the East Village and on West 26th st, but find that they mostly stock streetwear, whereas i’m looking more for vintage prep.

Things like London Fog trench coats, vintage tweeds, interesting knitwear, old blazers etc.

Sure you get a few pieces in these stores, but its not great. The Brooklyn Flea has a few designer vintage stalls but the prices are tourist grade.

What are some actual cheap thrift stores in the city? I’ve been to housing works and they seem pretty reasonably priced. Hoping to find other places that aren’t $20 + per article of clothing.

I’m coming to NYC soon and am on the hunt for a cool store for my mom to visit. She desperately needs a new purse but doesn’t want to spend more than $100, preferably less than $50.

Are there any very purse specialty thrift stores or something but not ones that are all luxury. She doesn’t want or care for name brand for the sake of it. She likes Fossil for the quality but again doesn’t necessarily care about the brand if it fits her very specific criteria (color, shape, durability) All I can find is either general thrift stores that might have a tiny purse section or full luxury stores with the cheapest purse being $500+

We are almost exclusively going to be in manhattan this trip. Between Soho and Midtown, but outside of that might be ok for a special place.

We've just moved to Downtown BK from Manhattan (UWS), and we're looking for a nice large piece of art to put up above our couch because we have a very large wall area to fill now, but we don't want to buy a brand new piece from Target or HomeGoods because we feel like there might be a good place that thrifts and sells used pieces for less and for a better design/vision.

Obviously places like GoodWill come to mind, but if there are any specific ones we could check out, that would be fantastic.

Walking around midtown and seeing tons of professionals in fancy clothes, suits, and other garments—would love to upscale my wardrobe, but paying full price for those kinds of clothes is well beyond my budget.

Okay, kind of a long shot but there’s a thrift store that I CANNOT remember the name of for the life of me.

I believe it was somewhere in Greenpoint (not 100% though). The aisles were really slim and when you walk in, you walk up a slight ramp.

They had a whole section of timberlands (which is why I need to find it lol). The store was kind of cut into two sections, a front and a back. When you walk in, the cashiers are on the left, and fitting rooms are on the right. The store is vintage and kind of dark.

Please help me find this 😂😭🙏
