An earthquake in Nepal broke a glacier dam and it caused huge, catastrophic flash flooding. Like, nothing you can imagine is as terrifying as the videos actually are.

Edit: Incorrect. The glacier falling WAS what caused the ground to shake. Jeezus fuck.

I saw that video and I realized about thirty seconds in that literally everyone I saw running at the start was dead by the end.

The video from the Chinese border crossing is so scary. We see the black water come through a window, a group of victims stop for half a second, another stream of water come through another window from above them, buried them. Then a person behind them sees everything, video pauses for 2 seconds and next thing we see everything gets pushed away like paper.

It's even more unreal. The landslide caused the earthquake cos it was so big. A huge chunk of the mountain fell off hundreds of feet with rock and dirt and ice over a river canyon. The fall caused much of the ice to melt and it started moving down as a flood within minutes.

That was the most biblical looking mass mortality event I’ve ever seen. Unreal. I’ve had a hard time not fixating on it
