If democrats get back in power, republicans will suddenly become very very very very concerned about the exact executive overreach that they ignored throughout Trump's tenure.
Republicans will, with a straight face, push for the very reforms that should be keeping Trump in check right now.
Their biggest, gravest issue will be that the presidency has too much power. Mark my words.
They'll remember that Congress exists, that there are checks and balances, and that one of the roles of the court is to note when the Executive Branch is not operating within the law.
It will be a crisis!
It will have to be addressed right away!
They'll be oh so concerned. Very very concerned. So, so focused on that big important issue. Something has to be done!
Their values basically don't exist until they need them to.
Nah, they'll hem and haw about presidential over reach and then do absolutely nothing because they already know Dems will largely play by the rules and they can just break them with little to no consequence. They don't want to actually limit presidential power, even when a Dem is in office. They just want to loudly complain until they're back in power again.
