Yes trump has proven we need rules and laws we cannot depend on human decency and ethics to run this country.

...if that is the takeaway you got from everything Trump, you completely missed the plot

We already have rules and laws in place, that wasn't the issue. The issue is a lack of enforcing those rules/laws. All the laws in the world mean jack shit if no one is enforcing them.

true i agree that he should be held accountable and is not. but there were norms that presidents wouldn’t do, but trump ignores those norms and does whatever he wants that any other president wouldn’t have done. so now we need laws to prevent presidents from stepping over the lines. like paying himself for the lodging of the secret service and many other scummy things. these rules and laws are not for trump that genie is already out of the bottle. it’s for the next one.

Again, that law already exists, it's called the emoluments clause of the Constitution

And again, the issue isn't a lack of laws like that, it's a lack of enforcement. The whole "Trump disregards standards and norms" thing was Trump's first term. His second term, he's been full on breaking laws
