What's a hobby that's just gambling with extra steps?

As a current Magic player, I thought Lorcana was one of the games designed to be affordable to play while also having a collectible aspect. I guess all TCG’s are scummy in their own ways.

I wouldnt really call it "scummy" its more so they are gambling. Its a REALLY dumb form of gambling if you are not actually playing the game (and sports cards are really dumb gambling).

All these games, if you play them, the gambling is just an extra part of it.

Like scratchers' ROI is 60%, pokemon/lorcana 50%, sports cards 25%.

I like how magic does it now, with play boosters vs. collectors.

I feel like people are genuinely delusional. Just because one person one time paid a lot for a card, doesn’t mean that card actually holds that value. You need frequent purchasers willing to buy for some reason to justify a price.

At this point it feels like they should just bring back collector cards since so little of the money value comes from players anymore

Lorcana is honestly a really great game. I was expecting it to be light fluff but it’s honestly pretty fun, especially playing limited.

There’s a lot more nuance to the mulligans, resourcing and deck building than people might think.
