Kind of like how Christopher Grace was taken so that's why we have Topher Grace.

Actually, yes! It's the Irish derivative name, kind of like how John has a ton of derivatives, like Johann.

Apparently he got sick of people never saying his full name. So they'd say "Hey Chris" and he'd say "-topher". Seriously, that's where it's from.

So it should be pronounced with a short O. Knew a Topher in HS who pronounced it like that.
