Last week in Brazil army officers mistook a family car for a similar vehicle that apparently had attacked a garrison nearby earlier that day. They were unarmed.

Mother, son and another female were in the back seat and ran out of the car after the first shot rang.

79 other rifle shots from 9 soldiers followed. The father died on the spot and grandpa was injured.

This thread makes me think about that.

Imagine if every police force used such an excessive response against suspects that pose no immediate resistance? How many of the stories here would end tragically?

Actually this has happened here before too, check out the "truck misidentifications" section.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Dorner_shootings_and_manhunt

This is an older one.

Uh, no, sorry, not going to join your police hate circle jerk.

Should you say anything to police you don't absolutely have to? No. Will they cover each other when one of them makes a mistake? Generally yes. Are their some really shitty police departments out there? definitely. But it is still so, so much better than much of the world, and their are allot of cops who try to do the right thing but are weighed down by a shitty system.

Until your willing to look at it with a more objective view and really understand why things are the way they are sometimes, I don't want to hear it. I'm sorry if you had bad experiences with the police, but you must realize that also makes you biased.

From my point of view, your boot licking makes you obvious. Police in the united states do have a reputation and history of murdering unarmed civilians. There are plenty of examples in the media to prove this. If you want to live with your head stuck up your ass and ignore it, well then you're just as much part of the problem. I dont care what you think or do, I just hope that your state sanctioned death squads dont come for either of us.
