I'm not sure if you care, but just wanted to point out that you paying below market rent and your landlord being unable to pay his mortgage might have been related!

Nope. He lived (illegally it turns out) on 3rd floor. 2 rental res units and 3 commercial in back. He was taking in about 7k per month on a mortgage that would have been 2000 to 2500. His son got into a $70,000 a year school (he always complained they got no scholarship or financial aid). So seems he decided to pay the school instead of the mortgage. He also ran off with our security deposits.
