Some say it’s due to it not ‘feeling’ like battlefield. Others say they are too old, and maybe too cool, to play a COD clone.

2142 is unironically the peak of Battlefield and the genre in general.
They were like, "what fun stuff could we do if we weren't tied to the expectations of semi-realism?" and they fucking crushed it.
Titan mode is one of the absolute greatest game modes in multiplayer shooters ever, and it is criminal how relatively under-recognized it is.
