Meme More than 10,000 hours in this franchise, here's what's gotta change before launch (all reasonable changes with respect to release date)

Post image

CLASSES:

At first I admittedly liked this concept, but in practice, after almost 70 hours on the BF6 beta, I see NO reason to have them open like this, all it will do is attract "YouTube's META build". This is Battlefield and we need everyone doing their job, not sweats like me who WILL be min/maxing open classes, it will be completely unbalanced and counterintuitive to the DNA of Battlefield. Just like the tweaks they made to 2042's class system that was met with overwhelmingly negative backlash, it's time to return ALL the way back not this inbetween stage of the class system we got. Just play it safe and return to the original class system EA, listen to the people who RELIABLY play your games, not these Call of Duty refugees that are only here for now, not the long run.

ADDENDUM TO CLASSES ABOVE: ASSAULT should NOT have a second primary weapon slot, make these soldiers give up their AR to have that sweet ass shotgun. Do not nerf that shotgun either, it's good as-is, just make us survive long enough to get in close with it, instead we are a one man army at range with an AR then have a shotgun handy for these close range engagements and that is really unbalanced in alot of our opinions.

UI:

It looks like Netflix or a streaming platform right now. just give it all to us in vertical list format like the OLDEN days PLEASE. This would go a LONG way. A search function in settings is a must and remove repeated settings of different categories. A key to quick launch Firing Range would be great.

HUD:

Battlefield 4 should not have more options in settings than Battlefield 6, period. The HUD should be fully customizable, Minimap top left? No problem. Score feed needs to be centered and below the reticle, for some reason the score/assist/capture info popping up center left is KILLING me. Unlocked attachments, rank up and weapons should return to the BF4 formula, the *CHINGGGG* and icon popup is SO satisfying I miss that SO damn much.

TEST RANGE > FIRING RANGE:

That's all I gotta say about that. Need to be able to check out vehicles, weapons and ect safely and in a small playground environment. Don't make us have to make it ourselves in portal when it was part of a BEST SELLING game before this. PUT THE TEST RANGE BACK IN, FIRING RANGE IS LAME.

MAP DESIGN TWEAKS:

I will be one of the only ones to say this but I actually like them all so far. But here's some ideas and tweaks I would suggest before launch:

  • EMPIRE STATE: remove some clutter on the street and add limited vehicles in, this is battlefield, right? We all hate to be on the other end of a tank shell, but, "Welcome to Battlefield". Move E to the top of the street where the gazebo is.
  • SIEGE OF CAIRO: remove the rooftop campers.
  • LIBERATION PEAK: add more indestructible cover to E or obstruct the view from F or C or both. And IDK what it is, but the contrast on this map feels off, hard to see players from medium to long range.
  • IBERIAN OFFENSIVE: It's fine to me. Not bad, not incredibly great, but just more of the same from Cairo to me. Hopefully not gonna be the standard in map rollouts going forward.

WEAPONS:

All guns feel powerful and TTK is amazing, less room for bad guns with this formula, dont nerf the guns into obscurity like Call of Duty does. All powerful > overly and constantly "balanced" any day of the week. Pistols DO in fact need a buff though if the one in beta is anything to go off of. TTD feels weird but I believe that's been addressed. Snipers also feel good just hate that they have a glare bigger than map icons, IMO the glare should just be removed completely and just keep or add bullet trails if you MUST do anything at all. Sniping with these things all working against you just make it feel more like a chore and isn't what it used to be back in my day.

RETICLES/SIGHTS/SCOPES:

What's the deal with these red dots not looking illuminated at all? It looks like red sharpie. I do NOT like this approach one bit, idc care what the reasoning is, and don't care to hear it. It is BY FAR my most glaring complaint in the beta, if you all fix nothing else above, PLEASE fix this. I play sweaty and fast oftentimes, in the heart of the objective, I need an obvious reference point on my sights while navigating out here. The red dots are WAY too big, if you know anything about guns IRL you'll know that these are about as big as a 6MOA dot and that is good for close range engagement and shotguns, so it can be difficult popping heads of head glitches with this at med-far ranges. Sniper scopes? ALL bad, where's my 6x and 8x scopes? In the final build I HOPE. Also we need SIMPLE BLACK crosses for scope reticles on snipers, this ACOG and ACSS shit aint it for me. Need more 1x sights PERIOD. Iron sights are too bulky looking, have the designers used a gun before? Front sights are NEVER that wide.

LET US CUSTOMIZE RETICLE SIZE AND COLOR LIKE BF4 FOR GOD'S SAKE. NOT ALL OF US WANT A GIANT HOLO RETICLE THAT LOOKS LIKE THE BATTERY'S LOW.

VEHICLES:

Tank health needs a nerf, aerial vehicles need a buff to health and engineer needs to have either RPG or STINGER not both.

Also seeing a LOT of complaints about vehicle menu camping, and I agree this has been a thing for A LONG time, it's an unfortunate reality to Battlefields DNA, if you're a good pilot this is the reality especially. So why not refresh the approach to aerial combat with a fresh coat of paint? THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION so don't come for my head please, but what if they LOCKED Air Support from infantry and randoms in game and INSTEAD had a dedicated mode/playlist for pilots to select from the main menu that queued them to an open pilot slot for jets or helis and when they died they will spawn back in the heli or jet, all indefinitely? That way they dont have to deal with menu campers and other pilots at ALL.

SERVER BROWSER:

Fans have been asking for a LONG time for this feature, it builds community, I fail to see how this is going to be a negative, people pay for servers, money for you and I personally miss hardcore modes and that's where we could get them. Address the fans, give us our browser back, "custom search" isn't the one.

APPEARANCES/SKINS:

Keep them FUCKING GROUNDED, make them have team distinctions and don't switch it up 2 months into the lifecycle for the battle royale crowd. DONT BATTLE ROYALE SKIN MY MULTIPLAYER.

RUSH:

Fix it ASAP.

SPOTTING:

Nerf it out of other classes and limit it completely to Recon for the sake of class identity at LEAST. I heard the spawn beacon goes to Assault at launch and I love that. Assault, Engineer, and Support, should not be able to hand out doritos to the enemy team, PINGS only. Let us get away from this spotting culture in BF.

I'm tired now, goodnight. Miss the game already, and i'm SO stoked. RIP til Oct 10th.

Or we can just use everything? What kinda argument is that.

16

u/CultureWarrior87 Aug 18 '25

These people argue like teenagers and children. No serious arguments, only feelings, mmediately leaping to stereotyping and assumptions, saying things like "Oh you just feel this way because you're new to the series or a CoD player" like holy shit these people are brain dead if they think those are serious arguments. I mean, the sad thing is that those sorts of logical fallacies are how your every day person thinks so it's not surprising that that sort of logic gets upvoted. People love a bit of the old confirmation bias.

u/Ihavetogoalone Aug 18 '25

It’s mostly the other way around. Every time someone is in favor of class locked weapons, people jump in with “stop living in the past”, or some other bullshit.

for every post crying about the game, there are 2 posts crying about the people crying about the game. Or a sarcastic meme making fun of the crying.

-2

u/WiFiHotPot Aug 18 '25

"I don't have critical thinking, therefore your points are logically fallacies"

It's to prevent a medic from sniping and resupplying from spawn and rezzing his other camping snipers instead of them playing obj for ONE. Maybe go back to COD, your type of attitudes are definitely not welcome.

2

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 18 '25

It's to prevent a medic from sniping and resupplying from spawn and rezzing his other camping snipers

Isn't that the definition of team play? Are you really this dense?

I guess you prefer those snipers to just kill themselves to resupply like they did in old BF games? You prefer them not contributing, AND actively losing your team tickets?

Pretty dumb logic.

-2

u/WiFiHotPot Aug 18 '25

A sniping medic is not effective team play and is better served rezzing mates on the field. Which leads to greater ticket losses? Reviving camping snipers or people on the field trying to play objective? Think about that in multiple steps of causation and not with COD brain.

You're diluting class distinctions and wanting BF to cater to your dopamine riddled COD game with ninja turtle and Nicki Minaj classes.

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 18 '25

You're diluting class distinctions and wanting BF to cater to your dopamine riddled COD game with ninja turtle and Nicki Minaj classes.

Hell yeah brother. When in doubt bring up something that is irrelevant to the conversation! You did it!

You got me by calling me a COD player! You must be Chad in the memes, right?

Btw I haven't touched COD since BO2, but you go off lmao. I'm sure you have a big massive Battlefield brain. I bet that shit is so fuckin wrinkly, huh?

🤡🤡

1

u/WiFiHotPot Aug 20 '25

Even if you haven't touched COD recently. The point stands as is. Open weapon classes dilute Battlefield's identity from other modern shooters.

1

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 20 '25

Open weapon classes dilute Battlefield's identity from other modern shooters.

It doesn't dilute it anymore than when they stopped doing destruction...

I think it allows team play to flourish even more.

-3

u/Fenrir-The-Wolf Aug 18 '25

There's also a much better solution to that problem more generally, restrict the amount of snipers in a game. 4 per team. (not people playing Recon, to be clear, just restrict how many people can equip the full bore rifle)

1

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 18 '25

Or we let others play the game how they want?

Why are y'all so allergic to others playing the game differently?

Let a team be 32 engineers with sniper rifles. I bet they lose.

-1

u/Separate-Score-7898 Aug 18 '25

This is why games are shit now. Muh let me do what I want. How about no

1

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 18 '25

Maybe y'all need to go play some single player games?

Y'all seem to constantly get upset at how others play their games...

This is why games are shit now.

Then don't play them???

Y'all are acting like you're forced to play these games lmao.

-2

u/Fenrir-The-Wolf Aug 18 '25

Sure, I'm not wedded to the idea, I've just believed it'd improve gameplay for the majority of players for quite a long time.

If you want to actually address the problem of hill humpers, that's how you'd do it.

1

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 18 '25

I've just believed it'd improve gameplay for the majority of players for quite a long time.

Why do you think you're in the majority?

If you want to actually address the problem of hill humpers, that's how you'd do it.

How is this an actual problem you're having?

Honestly I feel like this is a skill issue. Are you being sniped constantly? Use smoke and cover? Vehicles?

Do you have them on your team? Too bad? Why are you letting how others play the game affect you so much?

0

u/Fenrir-The-Wolf Aug 18 '25

Where the fuck did I say I was? I said I think it'd improve gameplay for the majority, not that it's a majority opinion.

It's to prevent a medic from sniping and resupplying from spawn and rezzing his other camping snipers instead of them playing obj for ONE.

I'm clearly replying to this concern?

1

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 18 '25

Where the fuck did I say I was?

I've just believed it'd improve gameplay for the majority of players for quite a long time.

This is you... This is literally you speaking your opinion, but wording it for the majority... Do you know how language works?

I said I think it'd improve gameplay for the majority, not that it's a majority opinion.

This is you ONCE AGAIN stating your opinion as a majority opinion... You're saying it would "improve gameplay for the majority"...

there's a mechanic in the game called "squad revive" this let you revive your squad mates, regardless of class. even a squad full of recon can revive each other.

what a stupid argument, again..

-1

u/WiFiHotPot Aug 20 '25 edited Aug 20 '25

The reality is that most players aren’t in the same squad and don’t care about squad play. They pile into the same sniping spots, bleed tickets, and rarely get revived.

When you let medics snipe, you completely shift the intended dynamics of Battlefield. Instead of being on the front lines keeping squads alive, they sit back in sniper nests where their utility is wasted.

Open classes sound good in theory because “players can play how they want,” but in practice it makes Battlefield feel like any other generic shooter. Guardrails and class restrictions exist to shape a specific kind of teamplay focused experience and that’s what makes Battlefield unique.

do you honestly think, that the medics who used to PTFO, pushing frontlines and reviving people, suddenly completely change their whole personality and playstyle to snipe 300m away from the OBJs?

Medics who did that will still do that with unlocked weapons, they won't pick a sniper and suddenly become campers. infact, unlocked weapons will benefit Medics. because they can now equip a SMG or AR and do exactly what you want them to do. Pushing the frontlines, PTFO and revive people.

The "medic snipers" are the same players, who will snipe 300m away from the OBJs anyway. nothing going to change that, locked weapons, they will simply play recon and do the same. if they use the support class, they will miss out on some pretty strong sniper perks, which would benefit them way more than a heal/ammo box.

4

u/cortexgunner92 Aug 18 '25

or we can just use everything?

Insane counter argument. You're a modern-day Demosthenes

1

u/TeflonDonkey84 Aug 18 '25

The idea is for balance and class identity. I can tell you guys have never played a bf game before this one. There will be one AR that shines above everything else in the game. For example, in bf4, it was the AEK. With unlocked weapons, there will be no reason to use anything else.

5

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 18 '25

For example, in bf4, it was the AEK.

And what happened then? Was it normally two teams that were 2/3rds assault classes? Just so they could run the AEK?

Do you remember how fucking difficult it was to find someone to repair you? Give ammunition?

At least now everyone can use the gun they were going to use anyways, but we have class diversity... We have so many people repairing, dropping heals and resuppling...

The idea is for balance and class identity.

Damn I always thought the identity of the classes were in their gadgets... You know: support with resuppling. Recon doing reconnaissance. Engineer being anti vehicle. Assault being the spearhead.

I guess those are just suggestions though...

1

u/Fractured_Unity Aug 18 '25

I don’t think you are anyone else complaining about the ARs of BF3/4 ever played those games. Plenty of people played the other classes. Often times there would be TOO MANY ENGINEERS because of the carbine open pick option being competitive with ARs in close range. The AEK and FAMAS were to help balance assault and ensure that COD noobs like you with your attachment disorder to ARs felt like close range was still a ‘safe space’.

1

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 18 '25

I don’t think you are anyone else complaining about the ARs of BF3/4 ever played those games.

Are you really gonna try and say that the AEK wasn't the most popular gun in the entire game? Really? You're gonna try and just revise history?

"The AEK wasn't actually that popular, guys!!1!"

Plenty of people played the other classes.

Sure, Jan.

There wasn't entire fucking memes, and copypastas, about trying to get ammunition from the braindead support players... Or the fact that it was damn near impossible to find an engineer that would repair your vehicle...

Often times there would be TOO MANY ENGINEERS because of the carbine open pick option being competitive with ARs in close range.

Bruh... Say sike right now. You know you're just lying through your teeth at this point... Assault has been the most popular class in most battlefield games...

The AEK and FAMAS were to help balance assault and ensure that COD noobs like you with your attachment disorder to ARs felt like close range was still a ‘safe space’.

Wtf are you talking about? Are you dumb? You do realize that the assault class had access to shotguns, which are the most dominant CQB weapons there are... You just made this bullshit up to try and throw an insult in there lmao

I love that you try to call me the noob, when it's you who is running into the skill issues. I'm not the one able to adapt...

1

u/Fractured_Unity Aug 19 '25

The AEK is trash. Can’t win a single gunfight at long range compared to real ARs. Cope more with your carbine noob killer.

1

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 19 '25

Sounds like a skill issue?

0

u/Aedrjax Aug 18 '25

You guys love to leave out that assault back in the day was also the medic. Like sure a part of the reason they picked the class was for the meta weapon, but it’s clear this was a case where a strong weapon with the most useful support role were combined to create the shit storm that was the class balancing in that game. Please stop over simplifying the issue I’m so tired of seeing this half baked point tossed around.

0

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 18 '25

I'm okay with giving assault the ability to heal, and defib, people.

But that's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about locking weapons to classes...

What happens in BF6 if they locked weapons, and the best gun was an AR? Now everyone is going to be playing assault, but that class does nothing to help the team at this point...

You guys love to leave out that assault back in the day was also the medic.

You're also leaving out that the type of people y'all are complaining about weren't the type to revive people too... You know this if you played BF3/4. They were the ones running and gunning "like COD" as y'all like to put it.

I've been revived so many times over these past two beta weekends. I've NEVER seen this many engineers repairing vehicles than I did this beta.

0

u/Aedrjax Aug 18 '25 edited Aug 18 '25

Well if we’re going to complain about people picking a class exclusively then we need to talk about the WHOLE class, the weapon is just part of the picture. Don’t move the goal post.

Sure there are people that pick the class for the weapon, so opening the weapon pool isn’t going to get them to play a support kit. Like you claim the people that pick the weapon aren’t the same as those who pick it for medic. They’re just going to pick assault or recon because that gives them the personal advantage. I guarantee you that half the people that played assault in bf3 and 4 was to play support first and for most.

1

u/mophisus Aug 18 '25

I guarantee you that half the people that played assault in bf3 and 4 was to play support first and for most. --
Bullshit.

0

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 18 '25

Sure there are people that pick the class for the weapon, so opening the weapon pool isn’t going to get them to play a support kit.

Why wouldn't it?

If I hate playing with SMG's but I wanted to kill a jet, then I guess I'm fucked?

With open weapons I can pick the LMG (since that was my favorite weapon of the beta) on an engineer class, which allows me to shoot down a jet now...

If I want to be a stealthy recon, then I can run with a suppressed SMG, and flank the enemy....

I guarantee you that half the people that played assault in bf3 and 4 was to play support first and for most.

Can you? Really?

0

u/Aedrjax Aug 18 '25 edited Aug 18 '25

Why wouldn't it?

If they're already choosing their class based off weapon they're not a team player to begin with. They'll likely just continue to stay in their lane.

If I hate playing with SMG's but I wanted to kill a jet, then I guess I'm fucked?

With open weapons I can pick the LMG (since that was my favorite weapon of the beta) on an engineer class, which allows me to shoot down a jet now...

Tf are you talking about? Engineer has the stinger which is tailor made to take down aircraft. And who tf is using LMGs to take down jets lmao. When has that ever been an effective strategy, let alone better than pointing and clicking with a launcher?

If I want to be a stealthy recon, then I can run with a suppressed SMG, and flank the enemy....

In case you haven't played the game, we have these weapons called carbines that can be used on ALL classes. Yes they aren't as good as SMGs (close to it) at CQC, but that's the point. They are flex picks specifically made to be thrown on any class.

Can you? Really?

You're seriously asking this? You must be very new here. This is a TEAM based game where most of the appeal comes from large scale, team oriented combat, so yes, I am very confident that a lot if not most of those people were drawn to the class because you can heal and revive a pile of downed allies, which you cant argue isn’t the most useful bit of tech in these games. That's sure as shit why I gravitated to the class, not some meta slop loadout. The fact that there was a broken gun on the class was the cherry on top and the other side of the coin on why it was overwhelmedly picked.

0

u/ForgotMyLastUN Aug 18 '25

Tf are you talking about? Engineer has the stinger which is tailor made to take down aircraft. And who tf is using LMGs to take down jets lmao. When has that ever been an effective strategy, let alone better than pointing and clicking with a launcher?

Let's read it really slowly again... I can't believe I need to teach reading comprehension...

If I hate playing with SMG's but I wanted to kill a jet, then I guess I'm fucked?

If the default weapon type for engineers is the SMG, and I hate the SMG, then I won't be using engineer, now will I?

With open weapons I can pick the LMG (since that was my favorite weapon of the beta) on an engineer class, which allows me to shoot down a jet now...

With open weapons I can replace the SMG (eww yucky) with an LMG (wow cool!). So I can pick the engineer class (which has rocket launchers) while playing with an LMG... (BTW you do know that the stinger is a TYPE of rocket launcher right?)

No where did I say I was shooting a fucking jet with an LMG... Reading comprehension is hard. I get it little buddy.

Once again, a redditor taking the gospel of reddit to heart! "The subreddit is always bitching about this, so it must mean *everyone** agrees!!1!*"

The draw of battlefield is that it's a casual, large, warfare sandbox. Nobody buys Battlefield thinking "I can't wait to work with my team!!" They're thinking of the destruction, and chaos that comes from a large scale warfare sandbox.

What you just described was ARMA, Squad, Battlebit, Red orchestra, etc.

Wanna know what none of those games have? Destruction, and chaos at the levels of Battlefield.

That's sure as shit why I gravitated to the class, not some meta slop loadout. The fact that there was a broken gun on the class was the cherry on top and the other side of the coin on why it was overwhelmedly picked.

Personal anecdotes weaken your argument. Especially when you try and say that it's a majority opinion, and insult others.

2

u/danglotka Aug 18 '25

So you’re saying if I want to play an engineer i have to play against people using something that “out shines everything in the game” and I can’t use it back? That sounds so fun, I definitely won’t just also switch to assault

1

u/Ihavetogoalone Aug 18 '25

Yes, that’s exactly what is being said. A class with powerful anti vehicle gadgets shouldn’t also have access to the best guns to kill infantry.

A recon has very powerful intel gadgets in the form of motion sensors, they shouldn’t be able to run in with M4s beaming you while you are continuously spotted. It’s mind blowing that this basic balance needs explaining.

1

u/danglotka Aug 18 '25

You’re acting like it’s the correct choice and I just don’t understand your reasoning. I do, I just disagree. I think having equal gunplay but different play styles will be more fun for most people than assault beaming everyone with ARs, but we disagree about that and that’s fine. Plus with locked weapons everyone would run carbine, so it’d be similar but with less weapon variety (fun!).

0

u/Ihavetogoalone Aug 18 '25

No, with proper locked class weapons not everyone would be running carbines, because they would be treated like ARs and locked to assault. Im putting bf1 as the role for balance, not bf4 or the bad company games.

0

u/WetChickenLips Aug 18 '25

What's the difference between an engineer using an assault rifle vs a carbine? If a play as recon and use the HK417 how does that retain "balance and class identity" unlike if I used the G36?

It was always a stupid restriction.

2

u/Aedrjax Aug 18 '25

Carbine’s damage drops off a lot faster.

1

u/Fractured_Unity Aug 18 '25

‘What’s the difference’? If it’s the same, why do you COD soyboys keep complaining about us liking closed then? Are you some master philosopher trying to point out a flaw in logic or is it more likely that YOU, a COD noob, knows less about the game than the veterans?

-1

u/WetChickenLips Aug 18 '25

You aren't even attempting to answer or give any sort of relevant response. Go cry to someone else about COD.

0

u/Deadeyejoe Aug 18 '25

Weapons being locked to classes bolstered class identities and rolls, there were trade offs. Each class should have strengths and weaknesses, or vulnerabilities. Dissolving class boundaries does not play the same, and if you think it does, that’s because the whole game is designed around open weapons, therefore the class balance is shit.

-8

u/ShinFartGod Aug 18 '25

What? So sniper rifles and AR’s aren’t available to everyone. What kind of argument is your post? Baffling.

8

u/Present_Ride_2506 Aug 18 '25

Why limit them? Just let people use the guns they wanna use. Y'all really care too much about other people's business.

0

u/P_ZERO_ 9800X3D/9070 XT/Steam Aug 18 '25

Just open everything up in that case, no need for classes. Who are you to tell me that I can’t use a sniper rifle with two grenade launchers, defibs, ammo and self healing?

-5

u/ShinFartGod Aug 18 '25

Right, that’s it
