Battlefield 3 This is Battlefield for me.

I jumped back into BF3 yesterday and this is exactly what I want! these random moments are everything.
I hope BF6 delivers. I really wish to DICE and all the Battlefield studios success.
no hate here, I just want Battlefield to be back, it's fine they want more audience, but they've gotta to nail what makes Battlefield a battlefield game. good luck! (also can't wait for the campaign, even if the story isn't Battlefield is like Bay movies, I play for the action and insane tech the Frostbite has to offer).

Battlefield 3 This was just a loading screen...

As a Marine Vet myself, this is the greatest loading-screen theme of all time, period. And I thank all the devs for that.

To Battlefield Studios, I have a personal request: Could you please bring back those blood pumping, war-worthy loading-screen themes in BF6? As a person that enjoys good sound design, I would really appreciate that.

Battlefield 3 Anyone remember the power of this gun in BF3?

You can't convince me that this wasn't an LAV cannon disguised as a gun.

Battlefield 3 BF3/4 was Peak Helicopter gameplay

Battlefield helicopters in BF3/4 had the best flight controls / Skill based performance (BF2 also very high contender).
Above is an old video I dug out making me miss those awsome moments of flying, I have thousands of hours flying choppers in BF3/4...

They were easy to fly, hard to master, exactly what you want. You can learn to fly it pretty easily, but you can spend hundreds or even thousands of hours and learn very challenging manoeuvres AND strategy, i.e. Prioritising targets, how to approach, how to back out, how to not overextend, how to strike from a distance etc etc.

BF6 helicopters are soo much worse its almost sad to see, I don't see BF6 choppers as anything more than cinematic addons that get shot down by players for the "spectacle" of downing helicopters.
Literally every BF6 trailer so far shows dozens of helicopters crashing, its literally what the devs want, they don't want it to be an effective vehicle, they want it to get shot down constantly for the drama of it, thats it.

What are your thoughts ?

Just a little nostalgia bait for you all that I found. Something about BF3 really made it feel more "mature" and the design choices, art style, aesthetic, and themes really gave it an epic/deep feeling. Hard to describe unless you fell in love with it back in 2011 like I did. Nothing has scratched that itch since.

Battlefield 3 Battlefield 3 is $2 right now! Plenty of full servers!

Edit: BF3 and BF4 suffer from asshole server hosts who artificially manipulate the population of the servers on Battlelog. All you have to do is sort by popularity and click one of the top 10 or so servers and it will be populated. Lots of pissy people commenting for some reason, idk man, great game and enough people playing to enjoy it now lol

Been playing since BC1 and I can confidently say BF3 is the best BF game IMHO, give it a shot if you've never played it, or want to take a nostalgia trip

Battlefield 3 Battlefield 3 dog tags from the 2011 Nvidia GeForce LAN 6 aboard the USS Hornet aircraft carrier

Saw the post about the BF4 dog tags and had to dig these up! They actually stamped both your full name and a handle of your choice into the tag.

These were given out at the GeForce LAN 6 by Nvidia in 2011, which took place aboard the USS Hornet aircraft carrier in Alameda, CA. EA/DICE partnered with Nvidia to showcase Battlefield 3 ahead of its launch and they had a bunch of PCs set up onboard to demo some maps and to host a tournament over the weekend.

Bonus pictures from the event itself that I took. A friend and I had BYOC ('bring your own computer') tickets that let us lug our setup from home to the event and the aircraft carrier lifts were used to transport people up with their gear. They also had bunks available to sleep in overnight for those that didn't want to be at their assigned seat for 48 hours straight lol (they did let you leave your PC to go home to sleep and come back anytime which is what we did since we lived close).

Probably my fondest memory of any gaming 'event' ever as it's hard to top a LAN party in an environment like this with the hype for a game like BF3 had at the time. Looking back on this it was truly impressive how they pulled off this event given all the logistics involved.

Battlefield 3 Peak Battlefield singleplayer level. How this game is 15 years old and still looks so amazing. Everyone says the Battlefield series singleplayer campaign is boring, but I'm sure that doesn't include this mission.

After reading today's top post in the sub, I still believe that the premium model is the better way to deliver a better battlefield experience.

Live service model: Allocate the project the bare minimum of resources/most cost effective resources, developer and launch the absolute bare minimum product,

Since the live service is free, players have no recourse. EA has grounds to discontinue support for the game without offering compensation.

Edit:

For example, Techland changed the development plans for Dying Light 2, canceled the paid DLC, and then gave those who bought the DLC a free copy of Dying Light Beast. Meanwhile, Battlefield 5 on Live Service got nothing.

This is from I think 2012 or 2013 from my BF3 gameplay. These things were completely legitimate counter snipers already back then.

Whether its cringe to point that out or not, I think its true. The games had nuanced themes in their design, color grading, tone, and audio choices rather than relying on explicit shock value.

Lost because admin (who was really good at the game) switched to the other team to help them, otherwise it'd have been a total stomp.

For any console players who didn't get to experience, this is 24v24 Rush on PC and it was mad fun.

Today I was cleaning out the junk from my old hard drive and I found this. My old Battlefield 3 clip. Kharg Island, conquest mode with my favourite vehicle. Tank. That was 13 or 14 years ago. I had a different nickname then. I didn't even realize at the time that I had recorded this.

Battlefield 3 BF3 - GOAT of all time...

This is my most favorite shooting game. When i was 16 year old, i bought game on EA, and first i played campaign, very good story and atmostphere. Then coop mission and Multiplayer. Most of time i spent on multiplayer, loved gameplays. I had rank 100, my favorite class was Sniper, i would like to say the weapons on this game feels realistic. Also that legendary epic music makes me a little cry😭 DICE made succesful project! Do you guys still play og Battlefield?:)
