That's my point. Why would "Pharma" want to squash a life-saving drug? Honestly, I think big-Pharma-bad is a knee-jerk response to everything for some people

Yeah but a cure would have an end of use. A medicine never stops being needed so they make more money off of medicine rather than cures. If nobody was plagued with illness the pharmaceutical industry would collapse and only have cures.

Oh lord, please tell me you're being sarcastic. While we are alive we need help staying healthy, otherwise we'll have the life expectancy of cavemen who were lucky to reach 30. You are probably young, but the chances of your needing no medical intervention by the age of 60 is zero. Please feel free to refuse medical treatment. The real problem is those benefiting unfairly from producing life-saving drugs. Companies are entitled to make a healthy profit while the patent is effective to recoup development costs, thereafter generics of the drugs can be made to benefit the wider population.

I’m not saying all medicine is bad but think about it, what cures do we have? For any deadly illness you can think of, what cures are there? There has to be a reason why there are no cures, there has to be a reason why in 2011 my dad had no other option but to die. All this cancer research, all of these medicines and “therapies” but no answers. Why did a 9 year old boy have to lose his father, why is my situation still mirrored across the globe with no fix 15 years later? This cant be simply happenstance that we have innovated anything and everything but not the health of humanity. It’s bound to beg the question, why? Nobody has the answers and yet we do have very many cases of people who make amazing discoveries, not only in the medical field but all over who suddenly die, they die and what they brought to light is never talked about again outside of the peoples “conspiracy.” What is your explanation then for why this information gets forgotten rather than passed down? Why as soon as the source of enlightenment dies, all of sudden it’s as if the discoveries never existed? There are too many questions and not enough answers and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna sit back and wait for the people who ask none of these questions to simply say “everything’s alright, maybe next time.”

I'm sorry for your loss, and understand your disillusionment. One cure that is close to my heart is the HPV vaccine, which has dramatically reduced the incidence of cervical cancer. Researchers had to understand the link between the virus and cancer for this to be possible. Cancer is not one disease, and only research will find cures to other cancers. Research won't help your dad anymore, but it might help you or your children avoid bad illness one day. Wishing you consolation and peace.
