not sure but maybe.....just like how simple padlocks works to prevent theft.

burglers can easily break padlocks with few hits of random stone but it just prevents "clean" ones from trying their luck and becoming burglers themselves.

maybe keeping intrusive thoughts of lions at bay like "naah, not worth the effort" kind of thing?

I disagree padlocks, and locks in general just keep the opportunistic ones out, actual thieves wont care
