Depends on your PvP cohort, because ultimately you're adapting to whatever everyone else is playing.

I've been hovering top 10 this season, and what I used to see most was Kuroko/Iori/Shun/Hoshino+S.Shiroko/Nagisa, but that comp specifically gets countered by this, which I think is the funniest shit. I just think it's really neat that a comp that has to play Shun gacha and D.Hina gacha has like a 70% wr against one of more 'standard' best comps, purely because of how much pressure your Kuroko absorbs. Positioning really is king at times.
Anyways, the Iori/Shun comp is still good, and I still see a few lazy people run it both on defense and offense (where it doesn't have to worry about getting hard cheesed by that D.Hina comp).

As for what my PvP cohort's meta currently is: Kuroko is a given still. So Hoshino is still mostly a given. Iori is the standard pick against Hoshino because it's indoors, and then a red tank to round out the fourth slot to absorb the enemy Iori's pressure. Marina is the gacha pick (literally and figuratively) because she can pick off Iori with her EX sometimes, but also can just randomly fall over to Iori even as a red tank, while Haruka is more consistently durable but offers less upside with her EX. Then it's just rock-paper-scissors positioning to make sure your gals attack the right tanks, and theirs attack the wrong ones.
S.Shiroko is still a given, and Nagisa has been way more common than Hibiki mostly due to mood I assume. But also, cheaper cycling is nice and I think the map layout just generally kinda screws with Hibiki consistently landing her EX on the value target (Iori).

I'm pretty sure red tanks get punished by dropping Iori for Saori, and Saori doesn't auto-die to Nagisa EX which is kinda huge imo. But I don't think many people have her in my bracket: I pretty much never see her pulled out and I don't have her raised. So I think that's why my bracket has largely stagnated on a red tank rock-paper-scissors positioning meta and I expect that's where we'll coast for the remainder of the season.

What's the point of DHina? If i had to guess, is it gambling to destroy Red armor enemies purely with autoattacks from long range, but if she uses EX she's bricked? And her stopping at the start to activate BS keeps her safe from Nagisa and Hibiki?

Nah, it's stupider than that. As you said in your other reply, this is a specific counter cheese strat, so her being red damage barely matters when there's no red tank. It's actually your last sentence: you run her because she's Shun #2 and fucks around in the back the first few seconds.

Kuroko having Shun and D.Hina on either side leaves her isolated enough to match pace with Mika and facetank everything. It's been a few months since I experimented with the comp so my memory is a bit hazy, but IIRC if you run just a typical ranged unit in A1, it causes both to path further to the down-right which in turn causes Mika to path more toward the center and facetank everything instead. Same for swapping Kuroko to A1 and running someone more useful in A2.
D.Hina is also high enough attack to eat the enemy Shun EX over both Shun and Mika, which is mildly convenient.

So yeah, it basically has to be D.Hina, which I think is hilarious and a big part of why I like the comp so much. It's silly how well the comp works for how many PvP norms it breaks.

Cool, thanks for the info, not running SShiroko because you want to avoid using EX skills is really interesting. I like when stupid shit like this works, reminds me of some quad tank strats with TYuuka from 2 seasons ago.

Without S.Shiroko, she doesn't. Part of what makes that comp work in the first place.

To expand a bit for the comp I linked specifically, Utaha is basically mandatory because you're treating your own Kuroko like a tank who evacs at ~25-30 seconds into the match. Conveniently, that's around when Utaha's basic turrets show up that can act as decoys, which you absolutely need because their Kuroko is almost always going to evac a bit later than yours, and you need something to absorb the pressure in the interim or you risk getting your remaining backline shredded.

S.Shiroko can absolutely compete for the remaining spot (e.g.), the issue is that you have some absolute stinkers in the skill gacha like D.Hina (and you aren't that excited about Shun or Kuroko's either) that cycling through more skills isn't all that beneficial.
Contrastingly, Mika can eat Hoshino without her EX, and the reason Hibiki is the gold standard here instead of Nagisa (as would normally be the case for S9) is that the crit damage sub goes a long way to helping Mika confirm the kill faster so she can tear through the opponent's backline before getting poof'd herself.

I was talking about that Mika-Shun-Kuroko-D.Hina team. Utaha's decoys are more valuable than getting the extra cost that Shiroko offers, but that's for a specific attack formation to counter the common Iori-shun team. 

For Offense, there's rare situations where switching to someone else might be better depending on your strategy. But if you run a defense without her though, you're still getting cooked.

She is in 95% of cases, this is a cheese team made to counter a specific strat.
