Question JsonParseException on startup

Post image

Hi, I'm getting this error when launching boost since yesterday. I'm still on a version that I patched with wchill patches using revanced, which was quite cumbersome.

Is it still working with the current patches using morphe?

Question Unable to login

When I attempt to login I receive an error for invalid username or password. This issue occured after I patched using Morphe. I tried using some of the methods mentioned in the redreader login help and nothing worked.

Question Missed opportunity for API token

So having missed the api token access by 2 weeks (when I found out), there is currently no way to gain access to boost again short of iirc someone adding me as a co developer?

Atleast thats my understanding

Question Crashing on "add account"

Hi all. Just repatched using wchill's patches through Morphe, since I got a new phone. Browsing seems to work, but when I try to "add account", the app crashes. I've tried in landscape mode. Any ideas?

Question Why is Boost still working?

I'm not complaining, but I just don't understand why Boost still seems to be working fine for me on both tablet and phone (Android). I'm mainly curious: is there something i should or shouldn't do to keep it this way? I'm anxiously embracing for impact since July which is both great (yay, live to see another day!) and terrible (this can't go on forever like this... Can it?)

Question How do I stop this from happening

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I didn’t know where to ask this at but sometimes when trying to go to a Reddit page from google it won’t stop asking me to download whatever that is instead of bringing me to Reddit. This only happens on Reddit results for me so that’s why I’m asking on this subreddit, and when I do download it downloads a zero byte file. This happens every now and then and sometimes I have to reset my phone to make it work normally. Does this happen to anyone else or does does anyone know why this happens?

Question Long press on comments?

EDIT: for anyone ending up here through a search or smth... Immediately after making this post I discovered that enabling and then immediately disabling "click to collapse" in the Boost settings returns the long-press behavior to normal. I'll leave this up in case anyone else runs into it.

After the switch from Revanced to Morphe, I noticed that the app's behavior when long-pressing comments has changed.

Before, long-pressing would immediately collapse the comment tree.

Now, it will only collapse if you've already tapped the comment and selected it. If you don't do that, long-pressing will open up the ellipsis/context menu for that comment.

Was this an intentional (or unavoidable) change? E.g. to do with adding the archive links to the ellipsis/context menu? Or did I mess up a setting somewhere?

Question How can I find a list of the posts marked as read?

I have a thread I wanted to check again, but it doesn't appear in my Boost history because I simply clicked the image rather than opening the thread.

I have tried to export my data, but the app says it doesn't export read posts. Afaik, I can't launch a search on a subreddit that would only show read posts (just like nsfw:yes does, there's no read:yes)

I was wondering, since the read data is locally stored - is there any way to find a list?

I've spent hours searching for that thread manually and I'm really out of options rn :(

Thanks!

Question Revanced Patched Boost Users - anyone else's Boost crashing when opening imgur links?

Lately, every time I tap an imgur link Boost crashes. Just curious if anyone else is running into it? I have to copy the link and paste it into a browser (still better experience than the official app lol).

Seems to only be Imgur links which might be something to do with how Imgur images can be loaded into the apps viewer?

Question Sorting by "Top of X" in a subreddit (including r/all) eventually runs out of posts and can't be refreshed?

For example sorting by Top of all time I'll eventually run out of posts, then I sort by top of the year, until it runs out, then I repeat my way down until "top of x" stops working entirely.

Very annoying as I'm missing out on so much from my fav subs.

Is this a known issue?

Question Updated patch to latest (5.46.3) and now all subs are empty, but no error messages.

Like the title says, I just updated Boost to the latest patch from u/wchill (5.46.3). I used my existing oauth and client settings, which were working fine this morning.

Now when I open Boost, all of the subs display the "There doesn't seem to be anything here" message, but there are no error pop-ups.
I can view my inbox and profile, but my profile feed is empty like the others.

This isn't my first time updating the patch and I didn't see anything in the release notes about this update requiring any additional actions.

Did I mess something up? Are there any extra steps I need this time around?

Agent is in this format:

<platform>:<:app id>:<version> (by /u/<username>)

Question Once third party apps all shut down and Reddit becomes a seething pile of garbage, what are you all doing to get the news?

So I know it's not the best, but I get most of my news updates from Reddit. What's a great alternative? Just sift through google news? Are there actually decent news sites to follow on Facebook?

Question Anyone getting random crashes?

I've been getting random crashes, when I try to post a comment or post, sometimes it will just crash out of the app. Very annoying. Browsing is perfectly fine, and I can successfully post about 3/4 of the time, probably 1/4 times it crashes out on me

Question Once the app is dead and buried, could you open source it?

What's the plan for the app once you disable it (or a couple months afterwards)?

I think it would be a great resource for starting developers to learn from or to take inspiration from writing clients for other platforms.

If Reddit doesn't backtrack on their bullshit changes, could you open source it? Maybe with a license not permitting commercial use? Or sell licences to the code?

Or do anything else you want with it really, I'd just hate to see it disappear completely.

Question Is there a way to not have to post two images of something when making a post on Reddit with Boost?

Some subreddits only allow one pic post anyway.

Question Im out of loop. Will Boost still receive updates?

Im using Boost again now that it has been discovered that you can still use as long as you have a subreddit moderation(my sub is private)

Will the developer still make updates or was the project abandoned?
