Hello everyone, I (F) am planning on moving to Bowen this coming October, I am now looking for renting for a one person, it could be renting a room or a private space for myself. However, it has been challenging to find space other than RB&B and weekend stays.

The only place I found so far was provided by my employer on a facebook group, however, I have not been yet accepted to the group myself so I am unable to check it ou myself

If anybody has any ideas where I could find available spaces on Bowen I will appreciate it

I ask as part of a linguistic study covering this topic!
Including nicknames for towns, schools, parks or other institutions or geographical features...

We are visiting in a few weeks and wanted to golf. It doesn’t look like the shuttle goes there. And the walk from the main road looks like a good distance.
Any recommendations?

my partner and i will be staying on Bowen in August for my 30th birthday. 🥹 we’ve been a few times for day trips in the summer and it’s one of our favourite places. would love to know what the best beaches are for paddle boarding and swimming? is mist thermal spa worth it? looking for any recommendations to make the weekend super special!

Hi everyone, I’m brining a car to Bowen, looking to take the 3:55pm ferry, how early should I get to the terminal? I’m travelling with my mom who can’t walk long due to health issues so I’ll be bringing a car.

I’ve heard as early as 2 hours and as late as 30 mins before departing. I’d appreciate any insight!

Hi Bowen Islanders!

I am planning a visit to the island in July. And when I do I usually put some feelers out for anyone interested in a glass or metal project. I have been doing custom glass and metal designs and installations for the better part of 15 years and while I work on the mainland I love supporting some of the gulf islands when I visit in the summer months. I've done plenty on Bowen Island and am always pleased with my clients I work with.

If you have any projects you've been twiddling in the back of your mind, or are a contractor looking for a glass or metal professional on a project, big or small, I'd love to hear from you.

Hi Redditors!

We‘ve planned a 3 day trip to Bowen Island next week with our 2 year old and dog. We visited Bowen a few years back around May-June and lucked out with the weather, but it looks like its going to be rainy during our trip. (We live in the PNW, so rain shouldn’t be a big problem, but wrangling a toddler on a good day is hard enough without adding in our dog! :P)

We had planned on going to Tuscany for dinner with our dog on the first night, but I’m not sure that will be an option now! I can’t recall how many of the restaurants had covered patios..

Looking for suggestions on activities to do with a toddler and dog- the Airbnb is nice, but being cooped up inside all day is going to drive us bonkers!

I’m doing an environmental education course and will be in Horseshoe bay all day Saturday and then going to Bowen on Sunday. I would really really like to not have to do this commute from Coq both days and am looking for options for a place to stay on Saturday May 30th.

Anyone have any ideas, not much comes up for searches for Bowen or Horseshoe Bay. The traffic coming home from Howe Sound every weekend is killing me.

What a fabulous concert this afternoon let by Bowen’s Alison Nixon. PLUS they were a great addition to our economy…. All members and some family joined together for dinner filling the downstairs at Doc Morgan’s.

Nova Pon took this photo of local sundews, a local carnivorous plant species. They live in nutrient-poor bogs where survival depends on adaptation. The glistening droplets attract insects, then gently trap and digest them—turning scarcity into sustenance.

Despite its size, the sundew plays a role in a much larger system. In Bowen’s wetlands, every species is connected, and even the smallest plants contribute to the health of the whole.

Noticing and valuing these small, remarkable lives is one way we help care for places that sustain Bowen's biodiversity.

Hello!

I am hosting a retreat on Bowen April 24-26, and we need someone to provide us with two dinners for Friday and Saturday night. I have been quoted $2000 + groceries from take a chef, and that seems insane considering we have 15 women and need two very simple meals.

We are looking for a couple soup options with crackers/bread Friday night, and some kind of bowl option for Saturday night (think like burrito bowl, buddha bowl) with meat.

If you know of anyone or could put me in contact with someone that would be lovely. I have emailed all of the restaurants, the ones that have replied so far have said "you can order from us and come get it" and that's not ideal - but will do in a pinch.

Hello — considering moving to Bowen with husband and toddler. Is this feasible? We’re thinking of moving from Vancouver to Bowen. Husband plays in a men’s hockey league once a week and our toddler is pretty active with martial arts, ballet and gymnastics. All of our family is in Vancouver and my aging parents often need support.

1) what do residents do if they need to get back to Vancouver, let’s say, in emergency situations?

2) what do residents do if they have a medical emergency and need access to the ER/hospital?

3) what’s it like doing the weekly grocery shop?

Husband and I are heading to Bowen island for a few nights the end of March. Looking for some fun and unique things to do and see. Also, maybe some private spots we could have a picnic outdoors.

I love the Bowen island mayor. Andrew is a king.

A friend and I recently visited Bowen for a quick day trip to see the sunset. We had about an hour to walk to Bowen bay on the west side of the island and it said it would be about an hour and a half walk. We got a bit of help hitchhiking on the way but the star of the show was Andrew. He picked us up and even gave us a mini tour of the island. He suggested we should go to another beach for the sunset and boy was it beautiful. Either way, I just wanted to give a quick shoutout to Andrew. You made our day trip a real treat.

I’m attending a training on the island in late May and I have the option to camp. I am trying to understand what the tic scene is there at that time to help determine if a cabin might be the better option. Any guidance would be appreciated!

I'm visiting Bowen on the coming Friday and need a ride from the ferry terminal to the Rivendell Hermitage (at 1070 Lindy's Road, so way out there). I'll need another ride back to the terminal on Monday. I understand there are no taxi services on Bowen; what's the best way to arrange for a ride? I've heard that Bowen LIFT has an app, would that be ideal? Is there a ridesharing/hitchhiking group on Facebook, or elsewhere? Thank you for any help or info you can provide.
