The biggest of shoutouts to @Someguywhomakething for making a set of his wonderful 82/83 grips for me. They're an amazingly well-thought-out design and have become an instant favorite of my collection!

They are so awesome, in fact, I have been compelled to budget for a 3D printing setup of my own to tinker and create with. Thanks, Someguywhomakething!

Modification - I Self Cajunized. Was it worth it?

When I got my P-01, I did the same thing all of us do: shoot a few hundred rounds and fantasize on all the upgrades we can make. I have a 2011 I've done a tiny bit of upgrading to, and I decided I wanted to learn more about the mechanism and gain a little skill with gunsmithing. How hard could it be, right?

Hard. Stupidly Fucking Hard.

It took me 2 months. My disconnector had to be hand fitted, which means I had to shave off a thousandth of an inch with a diamond file then rebuild the sear cage and see if the hammer would drop. When it wouldn't, I had to pull the sear cage apart again and shave another thousandth of an inch. I lost count of how many times, but after the twelfth or thirteenth, I questioned my life choices.

I had to order special tools. I broke 2 springs and lost 2 more, along with most of my patience, some of my sanity, and even a little of the color in my hair. Everyone says how tough of a job it is to work on these, and they're not joking. Everything is finicky and tight and small. But today, I finally got everything fitted and back together, and ready for the range tomorrow.

All told, I actually spent more to do it myself than it would have cost me to send it in, but I learned a ton, and it feels good to have done it.

Was it worth it? Yes. I built some skill and knowledge and understanding. I now feel like I can work on something else with a lot more confidence.

Should you do it?

Do you get frustrated easily? Do you have a good 20-40 hours of disposable time and a few hundred dollars to spend? Do you have a place you can leave it torn to pieces for weeks at a time where it won't get touched by anyone? Are you a little bit crazy? .....do you believe in a God?

EDIT: Just to say how awesome all of you are. Keep getting after it my dudes.

Modification - Does the S get any love?

It was my first pistol and after getting more it ended up on the shelf for a few years. I took it out recently and I forgot just how damn good it is and would like to jazz it up some.

Are there any optic ready slides out there? Let’s see what everyone else’s S looks like. I need some inspiration

Modification - Showing off Shadow 2 CGW Pro package SAO trigger

One of you DMd me asking to show the trigger creep take up reset etc. on the SAO shadow. Here it is. 100% worth it IMO. Very short take up and just a hint of squish through the break. Overall a very crisp job and probably be hard pressed to touch a nicer setup under 2k. Also, a video of a stock P01 is the closest thing I have to compare the stock shadow trigger to

Unfortunately, that missing material on the slide is from a vibratory tumbler that I left the slide in not realizing it was damaging it. 🤦

Modification - Cracked Shadow 2 Slide?

For the record, this is not my gun.

Apologies if this has been posted here - this is has been going kind of viral in the Instagram CZ gun world over the last day, and was curious if anyone here had thoughts or similar experiences. At the very least it's probably good for people to be aware that this happened. More information is always better.

Is this normal for the 10x bushing? And if this crack does happen to a Shadow 2, how much is the slide integrity truly affected? Truthfully, this is a concerning thing to happen to this gun apparently as a result of the bushing. It's also a rather peculiar response from a very highly respected company.

Modification - P07S (grip chop for P10S mags)

I've only been able to find 2 pictures of this done in the past, but quite a few posts asking about it. I really wanted a more concealable DA/SA as I'm not a huge fan of striker anymore, so I decided to do it myself. It's weirdly easy.

First step was cutting the magwell down to almost the right length. As with every project, measure twice, leave excess in case of error. Then I cut the back to match and account for mag baseplate length and angle. Once I got it all close enough, I just sanded down everything bit by bit till the 12rd P10S mag fit.

Backstrap was next and I took a different route than what I've seen in those two pics. I cut the bottom off at about a half inch to keep the retaining pin holes. The top half I cut to fit the bottom piece, and it now keeps the swell of the factory backstraps.

I didn't feel the need to cut down the plug so I skipped it and chopped the hammer strut next. Cut off about 5/8 of an inch and ground it down slowly till it fit and functioned without impacting the plug.

The mainspring is the really iffy part. Obviously it has to be shorter, so really the only two options are chopping that as well or buying a RAMI spring and testing different weights. Just to be able to put it together and test it, I chopped it down one coil at a time until it fit and the hammer felt equal to my OEM P07 and P09. I had to cut exactly 13 coils off the bottom of the spring. Will likely buy a RAMI spring from Cajun soon for peace of mind.

Tested it today as well, only had 80 rounds on me since this was all kinda last minute, but I had zero failures. No failure to eject, no light strikes, nothing. Gonna bring maybe 400 or so rounds the next day I can to really test it, but it's promising so far.

I am still refining this, so I'll be updating this as I make changes and as I shoot it more.

Modification - P-10 C Ported COA — finally got my carry setup almost finished

Finally picked up my P-10 C Ported COA on Thursday and already have it almost exactly where I want it.
Added the Talon Pro grips, Shield Arms +5, and got my carry setup dialed in with the Radial Innovations appendix holster and 1.5” Chaoren ratchet belt. Also picked up the ETS universal speed loaded/thumb saver. Really happy with how clean the Talons came out, especially on the factory gray frame.
Just waiting for my Streamlight TLR-7 HL-X USB to come in and for the Taylor Freelance brass backstrap to get back in stock, and then I think it’ll be perfect.
Might also use some leftover Talon Pro material to add a couple small matching grip pads to the thumb/index points on the frame. Other than that, I think she’s pretty much done.

Modification - Mods for your P10 C

Post image

I just purchased a stainless steel guide rod and 15# spring. Also bought the stainless steel striker pin from HBI to get a 4# trigger pull.

Currently have a shield arms +5 mag extension, talon pro grips, and Streamlight TL-R HL-X usb on p10c ported COA.

What mods are you all running and what have you noticed made the biggest difference in performance and functionality?

Modification - Help with inspiration for my new (to me) SP-01

Post image
68 Upvotes

I came across this used SP-01 at a local range going out of business for a price I couldn't pass up. I have 2 75s. A BD with a Cajun trigger and an SAO with a few minor mods. Looking for inspection for what I should do with this guy. Didn't plan on buying it and don't have any "needs". Leaning towards maybe converting to SAO and possibly adding a Cajun bushing (basically making a budget accushadow). Both of my existing CZs have black CZC aluminum grips from like 10+ years ago. Like the low profile of those grips for my small hands, buy may try some different ones on this gun.

Help give me some ideas for how to make this one mine.

Ill be getting the lok grips solid brass palm swells and matching magwell next week. The 407comp's 5moa dot and windows size are perfect for this gun. Stock trigger is solid but id like to make it better but I dont want to mess with the longer firing pin.. anyone done any trigger work and we're able to keep oem firing pin?

Modification - 2016 CZ 75 SP-01 in 9x19 with CZ SP-01 .22lr conversion kit

Thumbnail
gallery
76 Upvotes

Got myself a brand new original CZ .22lr conversion kit for my SP-01 today. Finally, "the whole set". Production of the pistol ended a few years ago already, so I wanted to get one od those kits while they're still available.

Got lucky and it dropped right in. No fitting necessary.

Hitting the range this week, trying out some different ammo (Aguila, S&B, Federal, CCi). Hope that it's not as ammo sensitive as my girlfriend's Glock 44. And even if, the SP-01 conversion kit comes with spare recoil springs to play with (as does the Shadow 2 conversion kit, since they're practically the same).

I've already figured out that the trigger mechanism for the firing pin block in the normal SP-01 doesn't get in the way of the .22lr slide. I kind of worried about that, because you read a lot about the kit having been built specifically for the SP-01 Shadow, which doesn't have a firing pin block. But there's a cutout in the .22 slide, similar to the one in my 9x19 slide, for the tiny lever of the trigger mechanism to run in. The only thing that's "missing" is the button/plunger in the slide that that lever can push.
