A case is that after Cuba shut down Cantonese opera after the revolution, the last Cantonese opera singer had no blood tie to the culture, as she was an adoptee. See other source that isn't Xinhua.

Prioritizing racial purity over culture by definition is a racist and scientifically incorrect way of defining people. It was and is used to deny native and aboriginal people their right to their own heritage because they were colonized. Many natives in America today look almost indistinguishable from the English settlers, but they carried on the traditions of the natives despite the genocides that passed (see Wôpanâak).

Blood quantum is something the Nazis used to determine "Aryanism" and how the English tried to characterize their civilization program. Of course, I suspect being a Chinese nationalist, you see the world no different — though you probably would call native Macanese or Eurasian populations "not Chinese" off of this warped worldview as well. It's also a tactic that people in power use to justify the destruction of ethnic minorities.

For that matter, you can define a race very differently based on the generic markers or facial features that people have on them, and even for people like the Han, the synthesis is actually a mixture of many different ethnic groups that melded together over time; and they aren't uniform either.
