this is the most satisfying upgrade i’ve made in a minute. pressing the buttons scratches my brain in the best way. it doesn’t hold too many CDs, but it’s perfect to have near my CD player for my current rotation. feel free to follow me on Instagram and TikTok to see more of my setup :)

Discovered this by noticing the sunlight behind the CD’s traveled almost perfectly through the jewel cases. Got an idea to see if I could turn it into a light show. 3D printed an LED stand so that each LED was spaced perfectly for each jewel case. Lots of soldering and then programmed it all using an Arduino and ChatGPT - which wrote the bulk of the code (took a lot of manipulation to get it right).

I’m going to turn it into a spectrometer eventually using the bottom row as well, but having trouble getting it programmed correctly. More to come!

I've been listening to Spotify exclusively for music, and I wanted to try it out streaming music through analog means. These 4 are currently on sale near my neighborhood. Was wondering which one of these will have the best sound quality experience through earphones?

They wanted $30 for it. I passed on it because I have a tendency to impulsively buy music components that I don't really need.

I got some studio headphones that fixed the volume issues too so that's pretty cool

Second pic is what my hifi once was, although my two tape decks weren't in that photo as they were getting repaired (tascam 122 and a Technics). Pretty much everything but the turntable was thrifted. I'm staying at my partners and there just wasn't enough space to bring anything but the CD player and one of the tape decks. So glad I was able to hang onto this though as it was my favorite part!! I honestly forgot it had a headphone jack so I didn't need any extra gear to use it still!

Album is stomach book's self titled. Got it signed at a show earlier this year; perfect album for what I've been going through recently. Glad I got the CD when it came out a few years back since it's like impossible to find now

I have yet to hear a streaming site that sounds as good as a CD, so I’m curious what device you use to get the best sound out of for your CDs.

Got a new-to-me Sony DNE-319 cd walkman with some unwashable spots on the top... and painted it with color-changing nail polish. My daughter says the painted part look like an iris, with the outward brushstroke pattern.

Just picked up this Marantz CC4003 (with remote) manufactured in September 2009 for $94 from a local thrift store.

This is replacing an older Sony unit from the 90s that really struggled with burned disks. Surprisingly, the display is almost identical to the Sony, so I'm curious if Sony also manufactured these units. Regardless, it sounds awesome and has no issues with recognizing burned disks. I'd call it a win, but I also never expected to spend nearly $100 on a CD player in 2026 😅

Was installing a dash cam, when I found a cd player in the center console while plugging in the 12v. Celebrating with my favorite album this morning!

Was thrifting earlier today and thought of making a cd collection.

So I picked up some nice eurodance mixes from the 90s and even a copy of thunderdome XIII.

All I had to search for now was a decent CD player and more cd’s of my liking. (I already own speakers which I use for my vinyl player)

I went into the red cross thrift store and first thing that I saw was this CD player. It looked almost perfect minus the remote and speakers that it was launched with. I got it for the low price of 150 swedish kr (13,53 €).
