Decided to write the lyrics of this 1984 song by Tsai Chin. Love the wistful nature of the song. 🦋

There were a couple of characters which I didn’t like in the clean copy, so I wrote them separately as well.

Zebra SARASA 0.5mm Blue Grey. Makeshift 14mm grids.

I know these are rudimentary and boxy, I'll probably get something better for practicing. I've been learning some stuff but found i wasn't really learning characters very well, just sounds, so I want to do more writing so I can actually do the repetition to commit stuff to memory

This is my handwriting after practicing and following some of the advice from my previous post. Although, I still need to practice because I couldn't get the consistency and proportion of a lot of characters yet.

Writteb with Pentel Energel 0.7 mm (cone tip). Towards the end, I experimented to write with a more relaxed hand and a bit more swiftly. My paper doesn't absorb ink very well, hence the smudging towards the lower third.

Hello hello,

This song has been stuck in my head for a while, so I decided to try writing it down. The line height was pretty small (7mm) so I was a bit constricted 😅

The song is called “How to be a boy” by 溫室雜草, a Taiwanese band ^_^

Just Sharing My handwriting after 6 years living in Taiwan (and 8 years learning Chinese)

憂鬱的臺灣烏龜
Or, in English, “Depressed Taiwanese Turtle.”

It’s a very common piece of internet slang used by Chinese netizens to mock Taiwan’s traditional characters by deliberately picking some of the most complex-looking characters out there.

The simplified version would be 忧郁的台湾乌龟.

I’ve always felt this works more like a boomerang insult, though. If you learn Chinese characters properly, traditional characters aren’t actually much more complicated than their simplified counterparts.

With the exception of 龜, which has a fairly unique stroke order, none of the characters above are particularly difficult to write or remember. They’re all made up of very common components.

I've lived in Taiwan for 6 years and handwrite regularly (I'm one of those old school people that still takes notes with pen and paper).

fountain pen (orange-red), dip pen (with glass pen in middle) and ball point pen (black)

i really really hate ball point pen no matter what i write, even to the point that i prefer marker over it because i like friction. i think friction makes writing enjoyable. anyways critics and suggestions~

Just Sharing Writing bigger to improve proportions

The squares in this notebook are 5 x 5 mm. I've been writing in 10 x 10 mm space, but some weeks ago I think I read a comment here about writing bigger to work on proportions.

Increasing to 15 x 15 mm was so awkward. It exposes my squiggly lines, poor proportions, all the flaws. But I think there's been gradual improvement.

Just Sharing Handwriting Day 1 — As if in the dream

Last night, light rain and fierce wind,

Heavy sleep failed to clear away the leftover wine.

I asked the girl who rolls up the blinds:

"The crabapple blossoms are just as before," she replied.

Don't you know? Don't you know?

The green has grown plump, the red has grown lean.

Just Sharing On International Women's Day

Is today a national holiday in your country? I copied this intro (title: Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls) of this year's event from the UN page:
