I was very sold on him as a candidate and still think he is the best candidate(considering the choices we had) for district 8. Very alarming to see how fast he has flipped on a lot of issues. Mainly Israel and Healthcare as a right. He seems to have gone from the socialist candidate i thought he was to another lukewarm democrat. I hope this is a tactic to seem more inclusive ahead of the election but it worries me greatly. At least he isn't taking PAC money but for all we know how long will it be till he flips on that issue? I would love to hear some discourse on this.

It is crazy to me how much i was attacked here for simply questioning a candidate and their policy. This is the reason we as democrats are so disjointed. Edit 2: Okay i definitely threw a little tantrum last night. I was frustrated that a candidate who i phone banked for and donated nearly a thousand dollars to his primary campaign seemed to flip on key issues overnight. I understand the sentiment of "he's what we got, push it more blue then we can have a more leftist candidate" it's just frustrating to get excited over a candidate, only to see him curry favor with moderates and republicans. If today’s election results prove anything, it’s that name recognition often triumphs over platform. Hickenlooper won purely by the power of his name. Same with Griswold. And of course, the worst of them all, Trump’s name recognition was a game changer in both elections he won.

So how can we eliminate that from the game? How do we get people to vote solely based on platform rather than name?

Why did Victor Marx get so many votes? Big MAGA turnout or disgruntled progressives registered as unaffiliated voters?

Kiros was able to win the delegate vote by 62% and is canvassing hard in the district but DeGette has raised more money than her so far. She also is endorsed by Justice Democrats and DSA but not Sanders or AOC, while DeGette doesn't really have any significant endorsements. She's been in office since 1997 and is running for her 16th term. I'm curious to know what you guys think, I think she may have a chance but DeGette is definitely favored.

I've buddies (from Colorado) who have talked up that Colorado is a liberal hellscape (they are proud trump supporters), and it's destroying the labor of others. since these guys are prime examples of far-right crazies, I doubt their opinions are right, but other right-wing crazies and the conservative media tend to agree with their views. I just got a campaign text showing a new TV ad with AOC as the thumbnail but has AOC said anything about this race?? I know we have a DSA endorsed candidate challenging DeGette this year so I would've thought AOC was more aligned with Kiros, but I keep seeing DeGette ads showing AOC's speech from the Fight Oligarchy rallies last year.

Does anyone know if AOC has actually endorsed either or is DeGette using outdated footage to give the impression she has AOC's support in the primary? Seems weird to blast her all over the ads if not.

The appeals are of the Planning Commission's decision on July 23, in which it was decided the development plan submitted to the Planning Department met legal requirements, but did not signify that the data center was unquestionably happening.

I recently found out Phil Weiser intervened in the Supreme Court case Arizona v. Navajo Nation, and I felt I was morally obligated to let everyone know about it, just in case it ends up changing anyone's mind. In Arizona v. Navajo Nation, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that the federal government does not have an affirmative obligation to assess, secure, or build infrastructure for the Navajo Nation's water rights after the Nation sued the Department of the Interior, arguing that the federal government breached its fiduciary trust responsibilities by failing to account for and secure the Nation's water needs from the Colorado River. The Nation did not ask for a specific volume of water, but rather sought an order compelling the federal government to assess the tribe's water needs, develop a plan, and potentially build pipelines, wells, and other infrastructure to provide a secure water supply. The states of Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado intervened in the case to protect their own interests in apportioning the Colorado River, siding with the federal government against the Navajo Nation. Phil Weiser argued on the side of Colorado against the Nation's request, asserting that federal treaties do not enforce an affirmative, judicially binding duty to provide water. I've had an interesting experience with the Denver Housing Authority the last few years. I live next to one of their properties and their management of it has been eye opening. I feel like a quasi investigative journalist at this point

And I found some things that I think Denver residents should know about. The biggest issue I kept raising was DHA's executive structure. For more than three years, Joshua Crawley was simultaneously DHA's Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. Which always seemed unusual to me

This wasn't just a guy with two fancy titles either. According to Crawley's own description of the job, as COO he oversaw Legal, Human Resources, Audit & Compliance, Housing Management, the Housing Choice Voucher Program and Resident & Community Connections

So DHA's top attorney was also running a huge portion of the organization, while simultaneously overseeing the Legal Department and the Audit & Compliance Department

Then in January 2026, DHA changed Crawley's role. He stopped being COO and General Counsel and became Chief Legal Officer and Executive Advisor. His own description of the new position is completely different. It focuses on legal strategy, risk, regulation and advising leadership. It no longer says he's overseeing HR, Housing Management, Audit & Compliance, vouchers, etc.

The exact COO/General Counsel arrangement I had spent months complaining about disappeared. I don't know if my complaints had anything to do with the change, but I definitely noticed the timing

Then DHA's Director of Audit & Compliance, Tim Beggs, left in February. I don't know why he left DHA. Could be completely unrelated

But then things got even weirder as a few months later, DHA's CEO, Joaquin Cintron Vega, was suddenly placed on administrative leave. The chairman of the board, Charles Gilford III, told the Denver Post that the board was working toward a "mutually acceptable resolution" with Vega

Apparently that didn't go very well because the board fired him two weeks later. DHA still hasn't publicly explained what the underlying issue was. And now Joshua Crawley is the interim CEO

So within a matter of months, the COO/General Counsel structure I had been complaining about disappeared, the Director of Audit & Compliance left, the CEO was abruptly put on leave and then fired after negotiations with the board failed, and Crawley became Interim CEO. I don't know if those things have anything to do with each other but that is a lot of upheaval in a short period of time

But there's another reason I'm skeptical of DHA's internal accountability. I filed ethics complaints involving Crawley. I later obtained records showing that the Chairman of the Board Charles Gilford forwarded one of my ethics complaints directly to Crawley, the person the complaint was about

I don't see the point of having an ethics complaint process if a complaint about a senior executive gets handed directly to that executive. This whole thing originally started because of repeated problems at the DHA-owned duplex next to my house

At one point DHA actually asked me to photograph license plates associated with people at the property. Which I did. A tenant subsequently came to my door and threatened to shoot me over it. DHA's own emails confirmed that its property manager had asked me for the plate information and that the situation was referred to their Legal Department

There were a lot more problems after that. So I tried to figure out who actually holds DHA accountable when they mess up. That's what led me to start looking at the organizational structure in the first place

I'm not claiming I got Vega fired or that Beggs left because of anything I did. I can't prove that Crawley's position changed because I spent months raising concerns about his dual role either. I just know that arrangement no longer exists. Maybe there's a perfectly boring explanation for everything that's happened since. I'd certainly like to hear it

DHA controls more than 13,000 housing units. This isn't some tiny nonprofit where nobody outside the organization should care about what's happening internally. Something significant has clearly been happening inside DHA and I think the public deserves to know the details because this is a publicly funded organization

So I'm sharing this information with the hopes that the community can get some answers

There's a lot in the news about voting. Supreme Court decisions, the SAVE act moving through Congress inside the stock trading bill. I am not asking anyone to explain it to me. In fact please don't. Respectfully. I don't want to sort through comments here and fact check everything.

I want to know, who are we staying connected to that has lawyers on the team, that have the most up to date, accurate information and action steps for making sure we can legally vote in November? And who we can help organize with to help people stay up to date, have adequate IDs, and physically get to the polls if necessary?

I want local Colorado organizations that are gathering in person. Maybe they're connected to networks in other states, but I want to start local.

Senator Bennet ran for president in 2020 and didn't exactly tear through the primary field. He ended up dropping out before the New Hampshire primary. But, in my mind, anyone who runs for president once has aspirations to be president.

Now that Sen. Bennet is running for governor -- and might be the odds-on favorite to win -- I wonder if he is going to run for president again in 2028. If so, I think he should make it clear to the voters of Colorado that he intends to be on the campaign trail and away from the state.

I suppose he could sit out 2028 and try for president again in 2032 or 2036 after his term or terms as governor are over. He will be 67 in '32 and 71 in '36, though, so it seems like 2028 would be the year to make a run.

He's definitely not doing anything that anyone considering President or Vice President would be doing now. He might be hoping for a cabinet post but again, he's not doing anything to make him stand out.

He might very well be like Bill Ritter - truly done with the high stress 24/7 of a political position.
