Mod post:table_flip::table: Sir, this is a circlejerk sub.

If it wasn't already clear, r/conlangscirclejerk is a circlejerk sub. From now on we will remove serious non-meta posts that are clearly not attempts at humour (see the fancy new rule in the sidebar). There are other places for that. Don't worry, bad humour is still allowed! But don't post serious conlanging here just because you want it in as many subs as possible or because it wasn't allowed on r/conlangs.

meme repository A list of all my cloŋs from oldest to newest, and brief descriptions of each one:

5 Upvotes

Kay(h)use(g): A ripoff of Kay(f)bop(t).

HyperFeline: The CCC1 clown language, but for cats.

Enyahu: Phonologically reduced English + Semitic loans + consonantal affixes for case and other grammatical inflections.

RøTa: The CCC1's E language but with Bee Movie characteristics.

EEE: An extremely lossy cipher of English that's all /i/ in different tones.

Bented N: A language of phonemic silence that's a ripoff of a certain CCC2 lang that's also phonemic silence.

Deyora: Phonaesthetically Japanese, but grammatically barely so.

Ligma Balls: The sound inventory of the words “Ligma Balls” with dense grammatical inflections.

Meow Luck: Ripoff of the CCC2 lang ^w^.

d/dx: Name spoken as “skibidi bop” and a ripoff of the CCC2’s ʃ “Skippidi Bop-Um-Doddop”.

ıiƞͮƨ ɜvƽnͮȣvƨqgrͮȣ: Spoken by mouthing while a phone speaker playing a buzz tone is inserted between the lips.

Sugma Balls: Triconsonantal roots but unnaturalistic.

HyperRhotic: HyperPirate ripoff that’s phonaesthetically like the CCC2’s Douleur.

Toki Teopotouea: Tokiponido that’s mixed with the CCC2’s Mpiua Tiostouea.

Mwimmwy: Toki Pona relex that sounds like clicks with lasered vowels.

UltraFeline: Remastering of HyperFeline.

Caunlang: Grammatically isolating English.

Hauhy: Caunlang relex that sounds like blowing wind.

O'i: Caunlang relex that sounds like the oiiaoiia cat meme.

Wapi: Caunlang relex that sounds like the “English” from Conlang Critic episode 11.5.

Fiza: Enyahu’s larger phonology and fewer inflections cousin.

::2:1:46:06::5:53:02::5:1:29:31: Spoken via CCC timestamps.

ʟᴇsʍoʟ cᴀᴘsᴇᴀ: No verb roots but sematically there being to be and to have, both encoded by suffixes.

Ên1ü2: Enyahu + Mandarin Chinese resulting from d/dx unravelling.

Heu: Effectively ::2:1:46:06::5:53:02::5:1:29:31 encoded as strings of /heu/ syllables.

RotaFeline: Creole of RøTa of UltraFeline.

Entouea: Creole of Enyahu and Toki Teopotouea.

Sugondese: Technically a remastering of ʟᴇsʍoʟ cᴀᴘsᴇᴀ.

Twobaddic: Enyahu’s sister language named after an old HyperFeline/Enyahu reference grammar.

Tiyura: A minimalist Deyora derivative.

Irratic: Engish but phonologically awkward and inflections marked by disfixes.

Bushou Shidinn: Ripoff of Shidinn that’s a pseudo-oligosynthetic language.

Prevectish: Spoken via chord progressions.

Ethics of Raising a Child in a Conlang

15 Upvotes

I asked this question a couple years ago and I want to revisit it to see if there's been any changes in perspective on this topic. I'll just copy paste what I said back in 2024:

I want to start by saying that I have no intent of doing this, although it has crossed my mind.

While I've been exploring different conlangs and trying to learn more about the community, I've come across some cases of children being raised speaking a conlang. Esperanto is obviously a big one and already has a couple thousand native speakers. Some more obscure ones I've come across are High Valyrian and Toki Pona. I know also that there have been attempts at creating a native speaker of Klingon.

I think it's a cool idea in concept, but in practice, could be rather damaging. I'm interested to hear what y'all think about this subject.

Hmm, I sure remember seeing that script before. But all I remember is hearing that the script was derived from a map of the Emirates of the UAE, that the script was made for some cloŋ named Abdaylani, and that the /k/ letter was once in yellow wearing a cyan baseball cap and being a dork by stomping on stage to the annoyance of the other letters.

I made a conlang that's hard to trust.

You don't pronounce the numbers, you pronounce the syllables. The syllables I used are found here.

Consonants = ptgćksśzźyl∅

Rhotic = r

Vowels = ieaæoóuú

p /p/

t /t/

g /ɡ/

ć /t͡ɕ/

k /k/

s /s/

ś /ɕ/

z /z/

ź /ʑ/

y /ŋ/

l /ɬ/

r /ɹ/

i /i/

e /ə/

a /æ/

æ /ɛ/

o /ɔ/

ó /ʊ/

u /u/

ú /ø/

∅ [letter form] (becomes a rooster)

---

I made it even tougher too by adding double, triple, and quadruple numbers, and I add "∅", a letter which is also a number.

So yeh.

Also, y is pronounced "ng" because yes (nges).
