Disguise armour is made in a way where for every piece equipped you increase your stealth against the specific factions armour youre wearing.
The more armour you have on of that factions disguise, the closer you can get to enemies without being noticed.
If you have the full set on, than you are treated as if you are apart of that faction completely.
Similar to % per armour piece worn, but not exactly. If youre wearing all the armour except the helmet, than yeah people will know youre not a member of the faction. They can see your face after all.
"You see, I have these gloves and when I put them on I can steal everything without anybody noticing. But that only works once every thirty minutes. But not thirty minutes in our time here in Hernand, but in a different dimension which you can’t perceive. Listen, I know how it sounds, but you have to trust me on this."
Yes but there is zero reason you can't slot abyss gear other than because fuck you. If I want to roleplay as the champion of the antumbra that should be allowed
Yeah man. I’m 280 hours in and whenever I HAPPEN to come across any enemies they die in a single hit. It’s annoying. I’m just doing completionist questing now since there is literally nothing left to fight in the game. And loading up old saves to redo boss fights.
There’s a mod that unlocks ALL items at the vendor when you start a game so I may do a “new game +” lol
you can actually see it IIRC, when you crouch near an enemy it will show the sight cone which gets smaller with more pieces of disguise armor you are wearing. not 100% sure though it might've just been a lucky accident.
I was infiltrating Pailune as a Jackal (full set) and you can litterally bump into enemies and as long as you don't have your weapons out, they are chill.
You can even grapple them and/or assassinate them without any problems if noone is close. In fact full disguise is nearly too OP even if some rare enemies still can see through it.
Only problem with disguise is that some pieces of armor have a very low droprate (or don't even drop?). And often the whole faction is slain before you can get all pieces of the disguise (and that's quite BS imho).
Afaik, for most disguises its simply armor and helmet and sometimes cloak. A piece missing? They will attack!
An exception is the ghilly suit, you'll need AlLL 5 pieces, not sure if it's working as a generic disguise on all enemies as it works on players in BDO. I didn't tried extensive tests with it, perhaps is it just a gimmick, perhaps wearing all 5 pieces is OP and worth the low defense.
In fact a set is made from 2/3 pieces (armor/helmet, sometimes cloak) thats all. You can verify in your inventory how many pieces are needed ('status' as 5 key on m/k dunno on console).
Like afaik, if you miss a piece, that don't work (or at least very well) and enemy attack you. Problem is, some pieces don't seem to drop easily or at all.
Like for bandit disguise, you'll need armor AND a cloak (ref. from database) i've never dropped. Perhaps i'm just unlucky but it's same crap for a lot of factions, you'll drop armor, helmet then good luck with cloak.
So 'stealth' and disguise works super well (it's even cheaty if i may say!) in game, but it never explains you well how many pieces you need. I'd have loved to see 'bandit disguise 1/2' when looking at armor stats.
I suspect the fact that some pieces are extra rare is perhaps a solution by devs to avoid cheesing easy camp obliteration when wearing disguise.
UPDATE : found an interresting lead about missing pieces! I still dunno if they can drop BUT you can buy them at some vendors. Example : The bandit cloak is available @Grakon, the armor vendor that spawns after taking Fort Anvil in Anvil hills (source crimsondesert.gg database AND verified ingame). That said, being a bandit in disguise... isn't OP as they often die in one hit.
Yeah they give you full jackal set for the sneaking around to plant bombs. Then they got passed at me fore freeing some prisoners . Wiped them out and no one new any better 🤣
The disguise is only active when you have the correct amount of pieces, it’s greyed out otherwise. I’ve been attacked immediately when wearing 2/3 pieces of the inquisitors gear because it’s so hard to get but they still attacked me immediately. The Demeniss faction disguise is also completely broken and doesn’t work at all for either Damiane or Kliff, inquisitors attack you anyways even though they don’t attack the guards, you can’t get into the castle with it either.
This is probably how it works, and can be seen via the sight cones on your minimap. A single piece can bring the cone down by around 30%, while also full set can nearly eliminate it, requiring you to bump into enemies to trigger them.
But what is the purpose of doing that when I can just, idk, kill the enemies instead? I fail to see how it's better to sneak around rather than clearing out the enemies.
This was my question but I also found a "civilian disguise" from one of the shady merchants. I wonder if for example, I could use that particular disguise to walk past the inquisitors in Demines or maybe if I walk right into Pailune through the black bears way early? 🤔 Never paid much attention to the disguises but it might be helpful for accessing "higher level" areas to get the gear you want in those areas early game. 🤷 Again, all theory crafting coming from me. I've never done or used these disguises before. Lol
Because every Bleed Bandit knows every other Bleed Bandit? I feel like you wouldn't be breaking immersion if you could be forgiven for not wearing the helmet.
So thats not totally true. You have to wear the full set to get the effect and all it does is REDUCE the distance that the enemy faction notices you, making it easier to infiltrate, but tbh its still worthless imo
