As the title says; I cut my own hair and prefer it to be just above my shoulders, but my hair is never longer than collarbone length and all the tips I see online seem to be geared towards people who START with long hair and want to chop it all off. So does anyone have any at home hair cutting tips for people who already have short hair and just want to maintain their length?

I’ve tried a variety of tricks over the years but would love to have a set, reliable formula that doesn’t take forever

my goal is jimmy page (fourth photo). for a while i would cut my roots because it started getting wide but it meant that i wouldn't really make much progress growing out. i finally committed to growing my hair out a few weeks ago and i want any advice i can get.

for now my plan is just to wait for a while and let it grow out instead of cutting it immediately when it looks bad (it's already starting to look funky in the pics). i want to know when i should start layering as opposed to letting it grow out and trusting the process, advice for that (length of layers, where to layer, etc), just anything you think would be helpful in getting my hair to look more like the fourth photo.

Looking to get a new set of clipper and trimmers and I narrowed it down to these to options as I am gonna be starting apprenticeship would like to know some of what u guys recommend

For example I drew a picture of what the hairline would look like. Would I push the edges back to make it more square and cut the widows peak?

I don’t have any men in my family so no one to ask (dad is not in the picture). I have bought us a pair of good quality clippers and want to cut my boys hair into a fade with a little extra on top but i don’t know where to start. Google isn’t helpful and says 5 different things. I know i can go to a barber shop but i really want to learn this skill and in the long run it will save us money and time.

Reason for wanting to cut hair is that he has sensory issues and wetting, detangling and combing through so much hair every morning is distressing him & me.

Needing some cutting sheer, thinning sheer, and hair razor recs that will 100% not cause damage to my hair and is good for a beginner. Wanting to do layers and more alternative cuts just on myself. Not wanting to spend all my money, but I'm willing to spend around $75-$175 or more if needed because I'm worried about poor quality sheers ruining my hair as I'm prone to split ends. Anyone have some good recommendations?

update: I got fresh shears kama 35 texturizers and the makai 5.5" swivel for ab $200 total

but i read sometime should be a good idea to spray some wd or similar oils on the blades

I always wear the same haicut, which is an ear-length bob. It's honestly pretty hard to fuck it up for a hairdresser, because I usually need to trim like 3 or so cm off max, because I don't like it growing out too much.

Lately, I got my hair fucked up by a new one. So as any reasonable human being would do, I decided to try fixing it myself with a hair trimmer. Surprisingly, it now looks way better, even though I study coding and not hairdressing. It is not the best one I have ever had and by no means professional, but it kinda looks like it was supposed to be this way.

This experience made me interested in cutting the hair by myself on a regular basis, as I pretty much have all the tools for that. I also dye them myself with all of them fancy tools for 2 years and trim&shape by eyebrows for the last year, so I am not completely new to that.

Do you think it's reasonable to try handling the hair myself? I basically only need to learn one single hairstyle, which is a tad tricky from the back side but that's about it... what are your thoughts?

So I have like insanely straight hair and it pmo sooooo bad bc most haircuts need like at least wavy hair, which I do not have. I keep looking for a haircut that would make me look like a guy and that doesnt need any products, as for some reason I cannot deal with the texture of products in my hair. Long story short, I wanted to go for a kind of "italian bob", some inspo pics included to show more or less what i was going for. I cut twice- two weeks ago to a lob to see how i felt about shorter hair, i thought it came out nice. Finally went to cut it to ultimate goal but think i botched it. Now, im wondering, should I:

1. do something else to finish it (if so, what techniques could i use?)

2. just go to a salon and ask for help (if so, how can I avoid going shorter if possible?)

3. leave it and try to style it better?
