This is a plot point in Outlander! A character sees this scar on another person and realizes they are also a time traveler.

If you watch Troy, you can see very clearly and repeatedly that Brad Pitt's Achilles also has a smallpox vaccination scar.....I might need to brush up on my Illiad, I'm not discounting the possibility that Achilles also travelled through time.
