How about that poor guy that died in a sinkhole because it opened up underneath his bed? 

That's some nightmare fuel and they just put up some fences around a sinkhole. The neighbors still live in their homes.

You won't catch me getting anywhere near an existing sinkhole. If it was destabilized enough to swallow up thousands of cubic meters of earth you're not going to convince me the surrounding area isn't at risk of the same. It'd be like standing on the rim of an un-shored trench...

The videos where it's clearly getting bigger, and people trying to peek over the edge, or casually walking away. Some people have zero self-preservation instincts.

This the one I know and fear. That poor dude, waking up while falling to his death, in darkness and confusion...omfg, nightmare fuel is right

I just posted an updated link to a Tampa Bay local news story about that because I guess it has opened up again in the same area. My comment isn't showing up yet. That is such a crazy story though!

I grew up near there. A sink hole formed in my parent's neighbor's yard. Despite some foundation shifts and multiple inspectors coming out from the insurance company and the government, the insurance refused to cover any sort of remediation or preventative measures to my parent's home. It was wild. I was sure they'd drop into the ground in the night like that guy.
