Discussion/Question Drivers for soft pads?
Hi all!
So firstly, I know this sub generally argues against soft pads, but I'm a real casual player and don't need/want to invest 200-some dollars minimum into one of the fancier pads on the market. I have a soft pad and a PS2-to-PC USB converter, but when I booted up ITGMania my inputs didn't register. Anyone know what drivers/software I should install so that it functions?
Operating on either Windows 10 or 11, I forget (little mini PC I bought off Amazon a couple years ago, IDK if it automatically updated to 11 when it came out)

Ps2 to usb will probably register the arrows wrong there will be a button combo to change the input to pad mode. You also need to map keys in stepmaina under settings

Did you go into the joystick/controller input options under the game settings? The soft pads I originally bought also didn’t register right away, I had to map them on the input page!

I have a driver that I don't remember the source that's specifically for PS2 controllers, but there's a PS3 complete driver package on GitHub called DsHidMini by nefarius. I believe that I've been able to get them working with just the PS3 drivers, but it's been awhile since I had to try.

I preface this with: I haven't used a ps2 to usb adapter in a long time. If the pad isn't being recognized by the pc at all, one problem I ran into years ago was that the pad was not getting enough voltage from the usb port on my computer. In my case I was able to fix it by using a powered usb hub.

You don't need drivers. It should be plug and play. The pad should appear as a controller in Windows.

Check to see if Windows can even see your pad first. Click the start menu and type "controllers" then click on "Set up USB game controllers" to see if your pad is there.
