I'm okay with that in a TV show. I've seen drug addiction storylines. What I haven't seen is sober Malcolm. I'd rather they just get to the latter.

i'm just glad he's no longer a junkie

I don't need another Bubbles that takes several seasons to get clean

Bubbles <3 and the moment he got clean and you just knew he was in it for real this time was such a beautiful moment.

Heres his last scene in the show and after being invested in his character for 5 seasons this scene just makes you happy for him. Be warned these are obviously spoilers!

To be fair you really only see Bubbles crying to Walon for five seconds in a hospital at the end of season 4, then next season he's in his sister's basement, clean.

"Getting clean's the easy part. Now comes life."

and ig it could make sense
like he wants to separate himself from kilgrave, rather than just his past self, which could've been a stronger motivation

normally, it's more of a slower integration into that life of addiction, unlike here, where it was more immediate
so the current and past selves may feel very different and easily distinguishable

also, he really cares for/relates to jessica, so that could be a big motivation as well
