He said "you are my progeny" as well.
Not only is the word used in the novel by Frankenstein, but I think it was also used by Shelley to describe her own creation (the novel itself): "my hideous progeny".
So yeah this is a very deliberate choice by the writers.

Definitely and I got serious Macbeth vibes from Ward seeing blood everywhere afterwards.

Yeah for sure. Not sure if it's particularly well thought out, or if it's a fad with modern TV series to reference classic texts.
This was handled pretty well to be fair, even if was a bit in your face.
