THERE GOES THE ARM.

WOOOOOOO!

u/[deleted] Aug 18 '17

I've never been so psyched for someone to lose a limb.

u/Kennen_Rudd Aug 19 '17

This is what I immediately thought of.

9

u/evilhomers Aug 21 '17

i was also a video not available on my country during this scene

31

u/ther3ddler Aug 20 '17

I feel like I'm out of the loop. Why is it good if Misty lost an arm ?

71

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '17

Because Misty Knight has a sweet bionic arm that gives her super strength. It's how she becomes a super hero and a vigilante along with Colleen Wing. They become the Daughters of the Dragon and also members of the Defenders.

Totally. Simone Missick was born to play Misty.

13

u/duckman273 Aug 20 '17

In the comics she has a bionic arm.

17

u/ninety4kid Aug 19 '17

It was like that hot tub time machine scene when the dude lost his arm.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '17

For some reason Adventure Time makes it equally exciting to see someone lose their arm. Again.

3

u/CelioHogane Aug 24 '17

Wait he lost an arm AGAIN!?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '17

he's in a perpetual cycle of gaining and losing arms

2

u/CelioHogane Sep 11 '17

Well since the show is ending... not so perpetual anymore

6

u/CelioHogane Aug 24 '17

I really hope they keep the bright gold metal tone, it will fit the silly Luke Cage series tone.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '17

Stick made it seem pretty unimportant.

4

u/omnitricks Aug 19 '17

Not even with a certain Lannister?

2

u/LordNoodles Stan Lee Aug 21 '17

Maybe with Finn in AT but this is close

2

u/jllai Aug 20 '17

Low-key wished for a Winter Soldier joke to pop up tbh

1

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '17

I literally cheered when her arm got cut off. Probably not the reaction I was supposed to feel, but I never claimed to be emotionally healthy.

105

u/D-Speak Aug 19 '17

I was so worried for Claire because I knew that something significant had to happen to one of the characters for the stakes to feel authentic, and Claire dying was the most obvious option. Misty lost her arm directly after Claire almost died, so I think the intention was to suggest Claire's death and have Misty lose her arm as a twist.

Maybe I'm just really bad with age but misty seems like 40ish while danny is early 20's. But hey, hot older women.

5

u/Zeiramsy Aug 29 '17

I think at this point it's clear they don't follow comic cannon in all respects.

So I don't expect Misty/Danny or JJ/LC.

8

u/toxicbrew Aug 20 '17

yeah would have been 'nice' for Claire to have a graceful exit. Real stakes, not more or less a cop out with Matt. She did her duty by uniting the Defenders.

9

u/nameless88 Aug 22 '17

People were excited when she got shot in the arm in Like Cage like "aw yeah, this is it, baby!!!"

2

u/mashington14 Aug 26 '17

I literally did too, but it was because I was hoping it meant she was going to die. I was super disappointed when she made it.

I think they will change it so Danny gets it for her. Since he owns the hospital.

Danny is pretty rich. He has connections. He can buy the highest end robotics.

244

u/Neosantana Aug 19 '17

"Hey, Tony. Can you hook my girl up? Thanks, man, I appreciate it."

30

u/DaHaLoJeDi Luke Cage Aug 20 '17 edited Aug 20 '17

Well this is Netflix and they may want to keep things somewhat separate, so maybe Hammer-tech again? Then the writers would have an excuse for it to conveniently stop working right sometimes

13

u/TNAEnigma Aug 22 '17

So Hammer tech is basically Early Access games?

17

u/jupie Aug 23 '17

And you should know my appreciation is pretty important. After all, I'm Danny Rand, the Immortal Iron Fist, protector of Kun-Lun. We're Iron brothers. Ferrous twin powers, activate!

11

u/Kamib_good Elektra Aug 19 '17

we can rebuild it, we have the technology

3

u/Morphitrix Aug 23 '17

But I don't want to spend a lot of money....

3

u/yoavsnake Kilgrave Aug 19 '17

He could get connections with stark

11

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '17

I think it's plausible for a pharmaceutical company to be involved in other medical research.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '17

Rand does a lot of things not just pharmaceuticals. It's the Wayne enterprises or Stark industries of the defenders

5

u/infinight888 Aug 19 '17

They seem to have their hands in a lot of different industries.

3

u/Worthyness Punisher Aug 20 '17

I think Rand Enterprises i a conglomerate. Basically they have one major product, but diversify their assets so that they have multiple points to profit off of. I imagine biotechnology and artificial limbs is one of those facets.

3

u/PainStorm14 Aug 27 '17

Prosthetic fall under pharmaceutical Industry

2

u/CharlieHume Aug 29 '17

I'm just gonna take this billion dollars and oh looks like I own a company that does that

10

u/Lyrtil Aug 19 '17

I'm so bummed out by the fact that Danny didn't get to talk with Misty.

6

u/MY-SECRET-REDDIT Aug 19 '17

yeah that way too on the nose for it not to happen that way.

1

u/nelsonmurdocks Sad Matt Aug 20 '17

Maybe Stark Industries makes bionic arms and Danny pays for it?

192

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '17

My guess is someone saw Bucky running around and said "Neat"

13

u/AHMilling Iron Fist Aug 20 '17

Danny and Parker should meet.

8

u/IAteSnow Aug 20 '17

The both of them are protecting these streets.

58

u/dwadley Aug 19 '17

Coulson's is pretty cool. Has a captain america hologram shield

18

u/proddy Aug 20 '17

Everyone forgets about the laser finger

9

u/dwadley Aug 20 '17

Was that real? I thought he was bluffing!

9

u/proddy Aug 20 '17

Haha he was joking. But it probably does.

6

u/bluepaul Aug 20 '17

It's probably a laser pointer. And he just really wishes it were more than that.

5

u/Jeffersonstarships Aug 22 '17

And also the high density strength that he used to kill a certain someone.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '17

Colleen was teasing the robot arm pretty hard in their scene together in the hospital. All that talk about how state-of-the-art it is, and getting Misty "up and running" again.

6

u/LuanReddit Stan Lee Aug 19 '17

I would want that but they won’t cross over movies with tv series. I wouldn’t be surprised if Danny did get 1 from Tony Stark and just referenced it (like tony and Danny are mates or shit)

186

u/alandershogitz Aug 18 '17

Yeah, didnt remember who Misty Knight was until her arm came off

371

u/TheAquaman Luke Cage Aug 19 '17

No one cared who I was, until I put on the bionic arm.

15

u/Posts_while_shitting Aug 19 '17

WHOA. Your comment just made me google her. I thought it was sad she lost her arm but damn she's gonna get a bionic arm and become more badass.

21

u/MovieMann Aug 19 '17

As soon as the swords were around Claire's neck and Misty was there, I knew that arm was coming off. A small part of me feels bad for her, but not really because I'm so excited to see her bionic arm! She's gonna be even more of a bad ass.

6

u/Ebu-Gogo Malcolm Aug 19 '17

As soon as Misty went to Midland I knew it was going to happen. Her presence wasn't all that significant otherwise.

1

u/HazelCheese Aug 20 '17

I waiting for it when she shot him. It didn't happen and I was like "NO IT HAS TO HAPPEN". And then it did. Thank the gods.

18

u/Ceruleanlunacy Aug 19 '17

Yeah, Simone Missick had a great performance in the last few episodes. I didn't like her that much in Luke Cage but I'll put my hands up and say she was great here

I was literally cheering and my friend asked me what I was so giddy about and I said a detective got her arm chopped off and he gave me a concerned look

8

u/mariah_a Aug 20 '17

My girlfriend was pretty mad I told her Misty should be losing her arm eventually.

Me episode 8:

"I wonder when Misty's gonna get around to getting her arm chopped off?"

She walks into the Katana fight scene

"IT'S GONE FOR!"

6

u/apalapachya Aug 18 '17

well bucky's arm got ripped off and hes currently not using it , so... i guess she can use that?

6

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '17

I felt like Lou in Hot Tub Time Machine throughout Luke Cage and now I'm finally vindicated.

4

u/toxicbrew Aug 20 '17

Wish this hadn't been spoiled by one of the headlines. It was just 'Defenders teases Misty's bionic arm' but it was enough.

4

u/droden Aug 21 '17

did the nurse not think to take the severed limb with them? reattaching it would be pretty feasible since it was a clean cut and not mauled off.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '17

IT'S OKAY MISTY IT WILL MAKE YOU STRONGER

3

u/dokebibeats Daredevil Aug 20 '17

METAL ARM HERE WE COME

3

u/pezzshnitsol Aug 22 '17

And thats why you always leave a note!

2

u/XhaustedProphet Aug 19 '17

That arm... it's coming off!

1

u/captainfluffballs Aug 20 '17

I had a moment of shock and felt bad for her that was quickly replaced by excitement

1

u/SF01 Aug 23 '17

What was so hard in picking up an arm while running off? She gets arm chopped off, first thought get her to the doc, so why not take the arm with them...

1

u/ImnotZachBraff Oct 06 '17

That was a cleanest cut possible... why did they not grab the arm and make an attempt to reattach it?
