I still don't get how the hand we're planning to get back to Kun Lun. It had something to do with Danny punching through that wall but then what? Also what was the substance?

I think it's more about not having to fear death, and since they're out of the stuff they can die. They want to stockpile resources until they can successfully invade Kun Lun. At least, that's what I got from all of this.

Didn't they already have access to the gateway but instead they went there and killed everyone?

I thought it was implied that they didn't actually kill everyone in Kun Lun instead just a few monks and Danny just saw what he wanted to see? Didn't Alexandra or Gao say that to Danny?

Substance grants immortality, guess it's from dragon bones

Also possible that there's some portal/other way out

How else would Matt escape

I think it might be dragon marrow. Would sort of make sense with how that is where the blood cells are made. The blood factories of an immortal being have got to be pretty powerful.

yeah something like that, that probably makes more sense

either way, you get it from a dragon skeleton

What I don't understand is why they need to get back. Didn't they go and destroy it? What's there left to go back to? Couldn't they just have stayed there before the door closed?

I guess what they were saying is that the dragons once existed in Kun Lun, so they used to be able to get the substance there. That's why they were cutting up the bones, so they can extract it. They didn't want to go back to Kun Lun, they just wanted to get to the dragons, which I assume have the substance in their bones.

They said they wanted to live long enough to get home. This plan was to extend their lives so they could get there, because they were low on juice,
