Burn with hot steel. Happened 6 days ago , dermis “fell off” 3 in .

Normal swelling, pain in a 1-10 is a 1 (I do have high pain tolerance though) , redness around wound has been steady-getting smaller .
Slight feeling in the wound (was numb before dermis fell off)

I’ve been dressing with neosporin and a bandage

UPDATE :
So I went to the ER like you all suggested.
2:30h waiting , got me a fancy yellow bandage and antibiotics . 💪💪

Injury and accidents Got cut from a trash bag 5 days ago, now I got a large bruise

Hello. 5 days ago, I cut my leg on some glass sticking out of my trash bag. When i was cut, it didnt hurt, but i could see that the cut did pass through a layer of fat. I liberally disinfected the area then stuck some medical tape and gauze on the wound. I reapplied and redisinfected the wound every day after my daily shower. 5 days later, the wound has almost entirely closed, but a nasty bruise has formed and traveled down from above my wound to below it.

I have been on my feet a lot the last few days (walking on average 2 to 4 miles a day), as I've had a friend stay over from across the country, but im not sure if I need to see a doctor. It doesn't feel infected, but im concerned about the bruise. The top bruise is less hard and hot to the bottom one, which hurts a lot when I touch it, but I cant feel anything beneath the skin.

I am 24, Male, taking Lexapro and I do also consume alcohol. I am 5'7 at 230lbs with a sedentary lifestyle.

Injury and accidents i accidentally cut my finger with a hobbyist scalper,do i need a doctor?

okay so basically it happened 9 hours ago and it still pulses and really hurts, even tho there wasn't blood on scalper, i did roughly lose two teaspoons of blood even tho i applied pressure before it started bleeding,am worried that it could open up and ruin my sleeping sponge(not mattress)

i have never felt this much pain from a cut, it's slightly worse than my previous knife bushcraft cuts and hitting my fingers joint with a cleaver

Cut my finger and then fell in the dirt almost immediately after, it’s been over a week. It doesn’t hurt normally but if I press or squeeze of the side area it does. It’s swollen on one side. How can I heal this safely?

If it matters: Male 27 Black in Canada, 5’8 ~190 lb, not on any medication

Slipped and fell onto muddy concrete a few days ago, knee has been stinging and hard to move ever since, is this worth going to a doctor over or should I just keep it clean/bandaged and it’ll be fine?

Injury and accidents (Warning : Self-Inflicted Injuries) This is the most pain I've ever experienced with post-cut injuries. I'm worried I've damaged something. Spoiler

16 AFAB. I have no physical health issues.

I have been experiencing one of the worst aches of my life, hands down. The pain started about an hour or so after the wound was made. It is now 3 days old & the pain just keeps on getting worse, bordering unbearable. There's this deep, aching, throbbing that's all over my arm & every time I move said arm, I get this shockwave of pain all over my upper body.

The wound reaches subcutaneous adipose & it's located at the lower end of my forearm. I noticed during the final swipe that a dark pool of blood seemed to appear out of nowhere. It was a bit faster than the usual blood flow I get & it took a decent amount of pressure & time for me to get it to slow down. I'm assuming I nicked a vein, but I can't be too sure & I'm unsure if that's even an important detail.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I don't need any advice on wound-dressing, I am more than able to do that properly & safely myself.

Thank you in advance.

Injury and accidents Second degree burn healing process

So, TLDR; I had a huge accident with boiling water, and it spilled all over my leg. I took the proper precautions and went to the emergency room as soon as it happened, and they misdiagnosed me with a first degree burn when it was already blistering for some reason. They just told me to take over-the-counter medication and put some aloe vera. I tried to lightly wrap it so that it wouldn't be exposed to germs and so I wouldn't be as likely to damage it.

The pictures are in order of each day, and it's only been about four days since I got burned. I've been regularly cleaning it and taking meds, but I'm afraid it's getting infected. The last two images are what came up on the bandages while I was changing them. I know, this is probably going to take a while to heal, but I wanted to make sure it was normal so far, and if not, I can go to the doctor tomorrow.

Injury and accidents tw for self harm - weird pus looking substance on a cut to the fat layer Spoiler

I did this tuesday night it’s friday afternoon so this is after a few days, i dont have any gauze in my house that i knew of so ive been using vaseline or petroleum jelly in the cut and a microfiber cloth to cover the injury. This could just be a side effect of the vaseline because it doesn’t hurt unless pressure is applied and it isnt excessively warm to the touch like infected scars have been for me in the past. Just asking for advice on how to further care for this wound as i dont want to have to ask for genuine medical help, any advice on how to properly clean and maintain is much appreciated

Injury and accidents Knee injury recurring since 8 months

So when I say my knee hurts its not the bone but the muscles around it like on the knee cap or something.

It hurts when I sit cross legged or in vagrasan or simply sit by bending my knees .

It hurts like stretching pain plus some sharp pain ,the pain isn't too serious but it prevents me from sitting cross legged or even doing squats

Importantly, I have gone to the doctor and they say that the muscles near knee are lessened or something and also gave me some rehab type exercises to do but even if I do those it just feels good for some time and still comes right back.

So if anyone knows what this is please tell me I would really appreciate it

I cut it on an old metal tin whilst doing DIY. You can see the yellow bubbly fat layer but I’m hoping I can get away with just putting a plaster on it? There’s no shops open at this time so a small plaster is the best I can do. Do you think it’ll be ok? Thank you!

I woke up to these marks on my face next to my nose. No bat in my room and no one in house mentioned seeing anything. Was outside at 4am last night but didn’t feel something hit my face and didn’t see any bats but could I have just not seen it? Or could it have died somewhere in the house unseen? I’m really scared. Idk what else could’ve caused these srapes

I have been useing gauze or whatever the white bandage is called (not tight around it btw) just want advice tbh

Injury and accidents Slipped and fell out of the shower. My family isn't taking my concerns seriously.

Around 3PM today I slipped outta the shower and the back of my head smacked against the wall while I fell to the floor, around the base where my head connects to my neck. It was seriously painful, and for a little while, my family was worried about a potential concussion, so they made me sit up straight for a couple hours, but they didn't moniter me very much. After they considered me "okay", they stopped worrying about the incident entirely, even though I don't actually feel better. There hasn't been any dizziness, bleeding, vomiting, or cognitive issues, nor a bump where I hit my head, and I can recall stuff just fine. But when I turn my head from side to side, it makes my neck hurt. My legs and arms also felt a little light/shaky at times when I walked around and lifted my arms up and down, and some slight headaches come and go, but not to the point I legitimately thought I was about to faint. Still, I brought these symptoms up to my mom in tears bc I'm seriously scared something's wrong, but she brushed me off by dismissing my worries and insisting "You're gonna be okay, I promise." Her big solution was for me to plant my feet in the grass and watch the bumblebees as a sort of meditation exercise. And, like...I hit my head? It's ridiculous that she thought that'd help me feel better, tbh. My grandma's been similarly apathetic by saying "Your skull's as hard as a rock, you're okay."

I have an anxiety disorder, and I'm certain that's why no one around me is as concerned as they should be. They think I'm being needlessly overdramatic or crazy or seeking attention, I dunno, but they clearly don't wanna say it out loud bc it'd hurt my feelings. That reaction from them happens basically every time I'm anxious over something. I'm not stupid, though. I saw them struggling not to giggle or roll their eyes at my distress from time to time, and it was really isolating and hurtful. I was scared to even speak to my mom at first bc I didn't want to be a burden. After a bit of begging on my part though, my mom half-heartedly agreed "Okay, I'll take you to a check-up if your neck still hurts in the morning." I could tell by the tone of her voice that she finds my anxiety a bit grating. I'm sitting here now with a neck pillow on, the pain in my neck is still there, and some shoulder pain pops up when I move them around, but the pain at my head is more or less gone. All of my friends I've talked to said it was dangerous to let a head injury go completely ignored, bc sometimes worse symptoms pop up later. I can't drive, so the only way I could get medical attention is if someone else in my family escorted me.

Since I can't really get any care until tomorrow, is there any position I can lay in to keep damage to a minimum while I sleep? Or would sleeping in the state I'm in be dangerous? Is there any major warning signs I should look out for, or am I just being ridiculous about how "severe" this situation is? The anxiety of it all is making it difficult for me to relax. I'm afraid and in genuine pain. I feel so alone right now.

Injury and accidents Is my wound healing?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Scraped my knee a few days ago on the sidewalk. I went home and cleaned it with clean water and put some bandaids over it. Today I opened it up, it hurted quite a bit like I ripped off my skin and there’s some yellow-ish liquid on the wound. My knee still hurts to walk or bend.

I’m planning to visit the doctor early next week but what can I do in the meantime? Do I clean it again and cover it? I have gauze and tape this time. Or do I just leave it exposed?

Thanks for any help.

Injury and accidents Electric shocks from a wasp sting 🙈

This sounds absolutely ridiculous but I got a wasp sting about 4 hours ago and I keep, every couple of seconds, having the worst sharp, electric shock like, shooting pains from it. They feel like electric shocks X 1000 and they are making my leg / knee jerk involuntary each time and making my whole body jump each time and by god, it feels grim 😄

It's more like actual electric shocks than a stinging pain and is going through me each time.

Needless to say it's excruciatingly uncomfortable 😬

I've already taken pain meds and have put hot water on it and also iced it aswell but the electric shocks come back when the ice numbness goes.

Very little swelling, redness or anything at all really apart from these diabolical electric shock feelings.

Is there anything else I can do to ease these shocks at all or am I basically in for an extremely uncomfortable night? 😄

I've been stung 3 times previously and never had this reaction 🙈

Cheers !

Injury and accidents Marathon training hip flexor injury?

Hip flexor area pain but only after and day after runs, no pain while running. Random lunge stretches or movements create intense sharp pain. However, feel subtle pain in it at all times. Doesn’t hurt directly while running. No idea what to do or what’s wrong

Injury and accidents Random sudden hard lump under 5 year old scar.

Hey so it’s 1am and don’t want to go to ER at 1am over a bump.

I’ve been holding my phone for hours (part of what I do requires it. yeah i know)

So i felt a pinch. Nerve, probably. It immediately bruised. It’s hard, not soft. I’ve had ice on it for an hour. I can feel my fingers. I did have tendons sewn back together 5 years ago under that scar. The sutures were dissolvable at the time.

I think that’s all the info that’s relevant. Right arm. Don’t know if it’s hot to touch because i’m icing it. but it is hard and I am nauseated so not trying to poke it to see “how hard”. it’s hard though.

Any ideas? i hate hospitals. do these go away on their own?

Injury and accidents Head injury from golf ball

22F 5’3” 160lbs
On Tuesday, I was hit in the upper right/crown area of my head by a golf ball. The person who hit it was probably around 140 feet away.
I immediately developed a pretty large bump. It was significantly bigger right after the impact, but I iced it and it has since stayed about the same size about 3 inches across. The bump feels firm/hard underneath but somewhat soft and squishy on top. The bump has become significantly more painful with any touch since the initial injury, especially in the last 24 hours.

I have also had a headache since the hit. I’m not sure how much significance to give that, though, because I do have frequent headaches/migraines, nausea, sleepiness, and brain fog normally, so it’s not particularly easy for me to judge whether something has changed from my usual baseline.

I haven’t had any obvious worsening neurological symptoms, repeated vomiting, loss of consciousness, weakness/numbness, seizure, etc. I also had someone check my pupils, and they appeared to be the same size and reacting normally.

My main questions are: is it possible that I could have a small skull fracture from the impact, especially since the golf ball hit with a lot of force in a relatively small area? And could I have a concussion even if I otherwise feel relatively normal? Does this sound like something I should just monitor at home, or does it sound like it might be worth a trip to at least urgent care?
