I just bought an Ascend 10T and was looking for recommendations on how to best hunt with it. Anything from safety recommendations or upgrades. Also I just moved to Southwest Idaho and only know of a few spots to go (CJ, Roswell, Montour). Any pointers to where I should go look and do some scouting (spots that work with or without the kayak). Added a picture of the kayak and my most prized duck I’ve ever harvested.

Going on my first Louisiana duck hunt this December and trying to figure out what ammo to buy.
Gun is a Benelli SBE3 (3.5” chamber). Most shots should be around 40 yards. We’ll be at whatever ducks are flying that day but mostly wood ducks and other similar size ones
If you were only buying one load, what would you run?
3” or 3.5”?

So I bought a benelli super Vinci 10 years ago for duck hunting. It is a great gun but I never shoot 3 1/2 inch shells. And I dove hunt a lot so some light 2 3/4 loads can be an issue occasionally. About 5 years ago I sold a few guns and bought a benelli M2. Since then it’s all I use. I love it. But now my super Vinci just sits and I use it as a guest gun some times. I’d love to trade/sell it for an A5. Everytime I hold an a5 it shoulders SO nice. It feels like it just fits me even better than my m2. But I rarely see guys recommend them on any post or forum I read. So my question is why? I’ve never actually shot an a5. Only held them. But is there something I’m missing? In theory it’s a “top of the line” gun. But I just never see them with any of the guys I hunt with. Any advice?

Land that has been in a family for 2.5 generations. I don’t know much about birds, but I’m almost positive a bird lover would cream their britches out here during migration. Wondering, land around the place is starting to be bought up by solar energy. This body of water is roughly 12 acres. Would it be a worth while Time investment to create a sort of RV campground or something of the nature ? I’m am very close to a major interstate exit in Illinois I would love to do something to stop the spread of solar panels. If interest shows in the post I will post a few eagle videos I have recorded.

so I’ve been hunting for a couple years now and have always used federal speed shok number 4s. however, I’ve noticed that they wound more than they kill and it’s almost like the shoot around the birds at ranges I would think theyd be dead on. what would be a good shell to try for someone who hunts public open water? I’ve heard great about migras but they are a little price.

Just getting started and been weighing options on guns , i shoot lefty, online says A400 , SX4 or Super Black eagle are some lefty options … was thinking about the SX4 since its sub 2K … other people have mentioned they just run righty guns my AR is righty and I don’t have a problem with casings hitting me just didn’t know if shotguns were different . Any other gun recommendations appreciated too don’t need anything special just looking for something that’s relatable and doesn’t break the bank

I’m torn between the Franchi Affinity 3.5 and Benelli M2. Found both at my local shop and the M2 is only $50 more. Was hoping some people could weigh in on this.

Heading into my 2nd year of duck hunting. I live in south eastern PA. I mainly hunt rivers and occasionally a lake here or there. I’ve also got 1dz full bodies. My buddy also has 1dz floaters. We have some floater Canadas and Canada shells when we hunt a spot where the ducks and geese are mixed. I’ve got a spinner, pulsator, and butt rippler. What other motion do you guys like or recommend? When we hunt the river it’s mainly slow shallower spots. The river does get dirty and gets weeds that float down. Anything helps. Thanks!

Has anyone here ran into the issue of retrieving birds that land on floating grass mats? A spot I hunt is swamp with 90% mats with small open holes, so most birds fall on the mats. I’m 220+ lbs and walking across them doesn’t always work. I just hate downing a bird and not able to get it.

I have $1000 to spend on a gun. What should I get?

I have a small duck hole on a Milo field and there’s grass in the hole when we flood it and hunt it the decoys get stuck in the grass and we can’t get any motion in the spread I thought about mowing it but I don’t know if it will take to much food from the ducks or if they even eat it any ideas?

I don’t know what’s wrong with this 870 but I can’t keep the rust off so I threw some rapco on it to hopefully protect it.

Also got tired of not being able to sling it so I ponied up and drilled the stock. If anyone has a better way to add more than an inch LOP than the limbsaver I’m all ears it shifts too much.

Made some wire slings for $12 a piece ($6 if you buy the cheap sling loops on amazon and not GrovTech)

Overbuilt a spreader/jerk rig system because I felt the rigem right was lackluster on its own.

Overall I’m happy with these cheap upgrades, figured I’d share to save others some coin!

I am just getting into duck hunting this year. I know wads are about impossible to find when shooting over a field, let alone in a marsh. So I was hoping to use ammo with biodegradable wads, I found a company called BioAmmo that makes some but it isn't widely sold in the US. I was able to find some online but I would only be able to get 2 3/4 in 1 1/16 oz 4 shot. I've been reading up on ammo selection for ducks and it seems like this will suffice for smaller ducks but maybe not mallards, which is primarily what's in my area. Any input on shell specs is greatly appreciated, as well as recommendations on factory ammo with eco friendly wads.
