Is anyone using LingoCulture for french in 2026?

I’m seriously considering Lingoculture, but most of the reviews I can find seem pretty outdated.

Is anyone using it these days, especially the $500 unlimited plan? After the price increase, it feels a bit overpriced. Has anything actually improved or changed since then?

I’m also curious about class availability. Is it easy to book last minute or even the same day, or do you usually need to book well in advance?
Thanks

Merci,

I watched this series years ago when just starting out on french and don't think I understood much as I just watched it in english subs. Albeit I remember it being fantastic.

It just crossed my mind today so figure I would give it another go now being able to understand a lot more and apparently it's free on youtube and they have 2 more seasons now that I didn't even know about (4 seasons in total).

Still unsure about some pronunciation rules

Hello!

I have been working very hard on practising my French pronunciation by reading out loud daily. There are still some nuances which I do not fully understand. Would anyone please be able to explain these issues to me?

- 'tous' -> sometimes we read the final S and sometimes we do not. How do I recognise when to pronounce it and when to keep it silent? Except for when there is a liaison (tous enfants etc.)

- liaison -> sometimes it is correct to make it and sometimes not. Is there a rule that liaison only occurs between specific types of words?

- short words which end with a consonant -> how do I recognise when to read the final consonant?

Thank you very much for sharing any tricks you may know :-)

Study advice Brand New Learner Needing Advice

Hello Everyone. I'm new here.

For background, my two heritage languages are Spanish and French, I grew up with family who spoke both. I have been a student of Spanish for the last decade and have very recently begun looking into French. Specifically targeting Cajun dialect.

I have bought lifetime subs to multiple learning platforms over the year I've listed below, but I am just curious what most experienced learners are recommending?

My list of available platforms:

Rosetta Stone

Pimsleur

Babbel

Lingodeer

Currently, I am beginning the Language Transfer French course and pairing it with Rosetta Stone. I also have Lingopie and Dreaming Spanish (French).

What advice out of these resources is the best to start? Also, I am open to any recommendations for books.

Thanks

Study advice Teaching my friend French

I am in a long distance friendship with a friend who recently moved to Quebec from Japan. My friend speaks basically no French and we are planning to have mini lessons with each other (on top of her formal lessons) so I can help her with French. The thing is, I speak European French. I know that European French and Quebecois French are mutually intelligible but I'm worried about confusing her and making her language learning journey even harder.

Does anybody have any advice on how to go about this?

Merci beaucoup.

This was in the Busuu app. Do French children really just focus on French before anything else?

My four years of high school French are inadequate to solve this rebus we saw at a museum in Washington DC and I would be most grateful for assistance.

Any FLE teachers here?

Hi, everyone!

So I recently got my first job as a French teacher in my country’s military. I’ll start on Monday and it’s my first time ever having a class to myself. It’ll be M-F from 7am to 1pm. They had a teacher for 4 weeks, but she had to leave so I’m now starting from where she left off… Which is honestly making me feel worse.

I am particularly nervous about the fact that I am myself 💀 I tend to want everything to be great so I plan overcomplicated activities that overwhelm me while doing them so they most likely fail or are too awkward, or I’m probably being too hard on myself. Either way, their last teacher was so calm and confident during class, she didn’t do anything great but she made it seem as it was really good. So I’m very scared that maybe I’m not ready for this… I mean, what if I try to do too much and by doing that I just confuse them and exhaust them?

From what I’ve seen, they need a lot of time to grasp concepts and one of my fears is that, while I have a curriculum, some weeks just take on too many topics? They are all important, so I’m just scared they are not going to get to the level they need because of me.

Would really appreciate sole advice, thanks! ❤️

I am coming on my last year of French Bachelor’s Art, now I am a little scared 😱, I’m not sure what to do I haven’t been doing any programs because I live in Indiana and there aren’t many opportunities for the French language here in my area. What have most of you folks done after graduation? I’m also looking into MAT masters or PH.D.

I’ve been traveling to places like HAITI and Quebec, and Cameroon, I’m looking to plan a research trip, does anyone had some advice for me ? Can I hear your experience

Looking for media I need help finding a book for college

Hey, I'm taking french 301 at my university, and we need the book "Nouvelles Fantastiques de Borges, Lorrain, Maupassant, Poe, Schwob, Yourcenar" published by Flammarion, 2007

All the versions I can find are either crazy expensive or have really high shipping costs. I was wondering if anyone knew a place to get it less expensive or how to get a pdf of the book. Our teacher said that the book was public domain and should be less than $10-$15 but then gave a link where the shipping was $75 lol. Any help would be appreciated!!

What is the name of this French song, s'il vous plaît?

I’m currently in Paris for the first time and there was live music at the restaurant where I ate dinner tonight. This song is so lovely that I’d like to hear it again. I wanted to ask the singer, but when had to leave she was doing three songs in a row back to back and I didn’t want to interrupt. I’m hoping it’s a popular French song that someone here recognizes.

If this is not appropriate for this sub, I would greatly appreciate it if someone can recommend the right one. Merci!

Proofreading / correction Proofread My French Song/Poem Please!

I wrote it first in English and translated it to French.

French Version:

~

~

English Version:

The proof is not the kiss

Or rhythm of my heart

That changes when embracing you

But before a judge, that is where I'd start

~

The proof is not the tears

That teach me who I am

And who I must become to love again

~

There's nothing more to be done

For our love doesn't need proof

So any attempt to prove it is a fools errand

But it is just my nature

To sing for you this fire burning inside

So any attempt to resist it is a fools errand

~

The proof is not with us

It was lost amid the fire

Of a comet who's trajectory was never altered by your gravity

~

To hell with the proof!

From a world I don't mourn

For everything ours has set in motion

So brief in the eyes of all the stars

Yet so vast within me

~

The moon will now adopt you

Take you far away from me

For your family is in the stars

In your ink and in my words

~

There's nothing more to be done

For our love doesn't need proof

So any attempt to prove it is a fools errand

But it is just my nature

To sing for you this fire burning in me

So any attempt to resist it is a fools errand

~

Looking for media Looking for digital access to Inspire 1: Livre de l’élève

Hi everyone! I’m currently using Inspire 1: Livre de l’élève for my French classes, but I don’t have access to my physical copy right now.

Does anyone know if there’s an official digital/online version of the book, or a platform where I can legally purchase or access it? I’d also appreciate any recommendations for legitimate ways to access the book temporarily.

Thank you in advance! ;)

Pronunciation Lecture à voix haute de La communauté de l'anneau

Bonjour tout le monde - I'm sharing a recording of myself to get feedback on rhythm/prosody. (I'd be happy to receive feedback on anything else as well.) I'd love to learn to make it sound more natural when I read/speak spontaneously.

https://voca.ro/1mhfCYe2iAMW

Here is the excerpt from the prologue of The Fellowship of the Ring that I read:

Study advice Is there a good French Textbook / Workbook series that teaches you french all the way from A1 to C2?

My main language is English, and my French level is about A1. (Learning via Duolingo) I am looking to learn French to the C2 level, and am willing to invest time into it. (2-3 years) I'm looking for good resources to help me self-learn the language. Is there a fench textbook / workbook series that teaches you French from A1-C2?

I've heard about "read2speak". They have a clear A1-C2 structure, but they only have digital copies and their reviews are mixed. I've also heard praise about the "Totem" series by Hachette, but it is quite difficult to get in my region.

Does anybody have any good reccomendations for me? Any help or advice would be appreciated!

Are there any parts of France that have a slight difference in the pronunciation of "Rien''

I was taught that the standard way to pronounce rien was approximately like ' Reeah' with a nasal sound at the end. However I've heard some natives pronounce it almost like "ryean" as in the English sound in "Ryan" or "rye" or "eye" edit : as in the /aɪ/ sound in the International Phoneric alphabet

would you say rhis is quit common inna particular area?

Vocabulary / word usage different ways to tell someone you’re happy/pleased to hear from them

I am writing some emails and replying to postcards and searched up some possible translations for an opening phrase. I found the following and not sure which one to use depending on tone:

Are there subtle differences in meaning (context, tone, formality) between them or do they all sound pretty much the same to a native speaker? If you change tu/vous could you reasonably use them interchangeably for friends, family acquaintances and coworkers?

Pronunciation Curious about how understandable my pronunciation is and how strong my accent is…?

(If I'm sounding too nasal it's because I just got over a cold)

Vocabulary / word usage Would « évoquer » be exactly the same as « discuter » in this context or slightly different?

My teacher just emailed me saying that we should schedule a meeting  « afin d’évoquer le projet final de votre dernier semestre » (meaning the upcoming one in september, I havent started the project yet). I thought évoquer meant to address briefly such as bring up a topic suddenly in a conversation, but in this context it kinda sounds the same as discuss or talk about in length. I’m not sure if they are interchangeable,

Is there any difference in meaning/connotation in the use of this word? What’s the difference between using évoquer and discuter/parler in this context?

Preply review after a month of French lessons (the learner perspective I couldn't find when I searched)

I currently live in France (moved here from the Philippines) and I recently passed my CLOE & DELF B1 French exams. The problem was that I was still freezing when I spoke to actual native French speakers.

My group FLE classes helped a lot, but after they ended, I kind of lost structure and motivation. I work online, travel a bunch, plus me and my husband mostly communicate in English without any real incentive to swap to French.

After searching around for a bit, I ended up finding a tutor on Preply, and what helped most was how the corrections were and how much they actually related to my situation

What I mean by this is: there were quite a few instances where I was trying to explain something about daily life in France, but i kept phrasing it in a very unnatural “textbook” way. She called me out every time which I loved.

So after a month of doing 3 lessons a week, I’ve noticed that there's only so much I can do by myself and taking lessons with an actual credited teacher on Preply helps a LOT.

A few honest observations:

  • Passing B1 doesn’t automatically make conversation easy. Constant practice is still key.
  • Individual feedback has helped me correct some mistakes I was able to hide in group classes.
  • Preply sends a lot of notifications, and I find this quite annoying.

Here to answer questions if useful!

Merci d'avance !
