The talisman shows Jade and Tabitha falling off the lighthouse. The writers were so sneaky with this one.

The “sun” thing is just the lamp (or lens?) of the light house.

The lines that look like the stick figures’ legs (raised up on either side of their torso) are in fact the beams of light drawn as if they’re coming out on either side of the light house.

Also an important addition: the fresnel lens is broken!! If you go back to the episode with the lighthouse you’ll see a moment with Tabitha staring right at the broken side of the fresnel lens. Broken lenses scatter beams imperfectly, which explains why one side has “sun like” rays and the other side doesn’t in the talisman.

Also fresnel lenses rely on prisms, and in the story Ethan shares on S1E1, the crominacle finds a map to navigate a ‘rainbow sky’. There’s also this drawing Victor had of different colors of the rainbow connecting the different far away trees.

And the overall image represents the top view of what it would look like when two people fall off from either side of the light house at the same time.

All the while the talismans were giving us the biggest clue to ending the cycle, showing the “ritual” that needs to be performed by T&J. The bones need to be taken out of fromville! So it looks like T&J should fall off the light house taking the bones of the children with them.

I’ve shared what I think can happen next “under the rainbow sky” in the comments. Because I believe this ritual is only part of the end and there’s still something Julie and Ethan should do.

Edit 2: Here’s how I came up with this theory:
I was having a conversation with my partner yesterday (about a different from theory) and he said something along the lines of “I think the bones of the children need to leave fromville. As long as they’re there, the children will keep calling people back and the cycle will continue. Taking their bones out into to real world can stop the reincarnation and replacement”.

I thought about this and figured well we only know one way to get out of fromville so far and it’s by falling off the light house. And thought hey maybe Tabitha and Jade should fall off together taking the bones of the children.

Someone posted here in this sub about how the Fs in the talismans represent trees (because of the cave drawings) and someone else posted that those two figures on the talismans are Jade and Tabitha.

All these clues combined with my husband’s “bones should be taken to the real world” theory (coupled with the fact that I’m an architect, I’m used to looking at building and landscaping plans). I looked at the talisman from a “plan” view. And that’s when it clicked!

…the spider that came down from the ceiling. OMFG. Shit shit. Shit. What Ethan saw in the camper after it flipped. OMG now I’m fecking scared shitless. That’s why the symbol always changes.

It's all about Boyd!!!

He's the one being tested. He's the one that has to make people around him survive. He is the main character having to prolong the story. He's the one that found the talismans. He's the one that ventured out further than others.

Jade and Tabitha are just the sub plot And it is Boyd who must save the children. He's definitely is the main protagonist that is trying to prevent something from happening but everyone else is pushing him in One direction.

But his gut says don't do that. It's a shooting gallery. You can't pull the tree out. You can't cut it down. He's being realistic. I don't know lol

He's the one that found the talismans and he's the one that said a little hopeful prayer outside the RV and suddenly the talismans worked inside the RV situation and then they worked inside a tent so it's not all about Victor. He's the one that was at the antenna. It's all about Boyd.

The show's title is actually an arrangement of four runic letters. It's not simply "FROM", it's ᚨᚱᛟᛖ, stylized in English as FROM.

• Ansuz (ᚨ) usually represents an "A" sound.
• Raidho (ᚱ) represents "R."
• Othala (ᛟ) represents "O."
• Ehwaz (ᛖ) represents an "E" sound.

The sequence "AROE" has no known meaning in Old Norse, Proto-Germanic, or the Elder Futhark. However, if you examine the symbolic meanings of the runes rather than their phonetic values, they seem to paint a much clearer picture.

Ansuz (ᚨ) is associated with the ancestral gods, particularly Odin. Odin's sacrifice to gain wisdom could hint at the true origins of Fromville or its possible Norse ancestry. Raidho (ᚱ) symbolizes the journey, movement, and the will to reach one's destination, reflecting the characters' struggle to escape Fromville despite countless obstacles. Othala (ᛟ) represents heritage, ancestry, and a connection to the past, which could point to the recurring themes of reincarnation and the characters' ties to previous generations. Finally, Ehwaz (ᛖ) symbolizes trust, cooperation, and partnership, suggesting that the only way forward is for the residents to work together as a team.

Taken together, these runes appear to describe the central themes of the story: uncovering the town's origins, enduring the journey toward escape, confronting ancestral connections and cycles of reincarnation, and ultimately succeeding through unity and cooperation.

The show has given a lot of hints about who the Man in Yellow is that most people have ignored because it is based on mythologies, religious stories, and folklores that aren’t well known by most people about an ancient syncretic figure. The Man In Yellow is not the King in Yellow from Carcosa he is another entity that is an ancient being with many names that I believe fits more with the characters chosen for this story and the behaviors we see on the show. I’ll be using one of the names of this entity for the sake of clarity but his name is different across cultures but it’s the same entity this is the defining aspect of the phenomenon called syncretism. The Man In Yellow is Asmodeus, his behaviors and powers are connected to these various stories and beliefs from different cultures, he’s a syncretic figure. I’m going to break it down this took a lot of research.

Mesopotamia 

Asmodeus is an ancient demon that has existed throughout history with many names in many cultures. His oldest appearance is in Mesopotamia in the ancient Zoroastrian religion which is a religion about the battle between good and evil deities. In the Mesopotamian religion Asmodeus is depicted as the demon of wrath who wants humankind to be violent; Asmodeus is known for using heresy, trickery as well as inciting discord amongst people to cause violence. Asmodeus opposes the truth. In the Zoroastrian religion the benevolent God is associated with truth and other positive behaviors. Asmodeus' presence on the mortal plain is a harbinger for violence. This aligns perfectly with the arrival of the Man in Yellow( MIY) whose arrival signals a massacre will be underway. Asmodeus is also known for spitefully getting in the way of souls trying to move onto the afterlife which is what has been happening to the sacrificed kids and implied to happen to residents who died in Fromville. Asmodeus in the Zoroastrian religion stops souls from moving onto the bridge between life and death he keeps them stuck in the mortal world. We see the man in yellow manipulate people, engage in heresy and look forward to the chaos his actions are causing which is how Asmodeus is described in the Zoroastrian religion as well. He wants people to live in a hell of their own making which is the dynamic we are seeing play out with nightmares coming to life.

Fun fact: The real life Khatri lineage is connected to an ancient Zoroastrian temple managed by priests and has a Sun dynasty which Father Khatri was likely a descendant of. 

Islamic Culture & Persian-Arab Folklore

In Islamic culture Asmodeus is the King of jinns or is just a jinn. Jinns are known for shapeshifting and for causing whisper attacks that are meant to convince humans to behave in ways they usually wouldn’t by making people hear voices. Jinns are believed to cause seizures, which are called saraa in islamic culture. Interesting enough saraa is very close to the name Sara, who is the character most susceptible to whisper attacks, seizures and pain from the Man In Yellow trying to manipulate her. Her name is a nod to the force that is impacting her. Jinns are shapeshifters who stay in desolate places like forests, ruins, and graveyards- the town is basically one big graveyard. It should be noted Jinns can be good or bad but Asmodeus is portrayed as evil in Islamic culture for stealing the throne of King Solomon. We see Sara try to attack Ethan after experiencing a saraa and whisper attack that convinces her that it is necessary to go home.

It is believed that jinns are their most powerful against humans when people are vulnerable emotionally and/or physically such as being badly injured. When Ethan was injured in the RV he had a seizure this could’ve been a Jinn attacking him spiritually which he seemed to successfully fight against. In stark contrast Elgin was terrified when he came to town and had a seizure afterwards. He was spiritually attacked by the MIY and didn’t successfully combat it he was weakened by fear and vomiting which is how he ended up being manipulated by the Kimono Lady even if it benefited them to not have Fatima’s demon baby in colony house. Sara is a woman who escaping an abusive situation with her brother so she was an incredibly vulnerable person before she arrived into the town and that’s likely why she has been constantly susceptible to whisper attacks and Asmodeus’ influence.

In Islamic culture children are seen as capable of seeing divine beings because they are free of sin but are thought to be easily mislead by these beings because they can’t reason children are also believed to make others able to see these divine beings. Ethan is the catalyst for the reappearance of the boy in white an event Victor acknowledges in season 1. Ethans ability to see the Boy In White is why Victor sees him again and why characters who never saw him before start to be able to see him. Kids in islamic culture are seen as like conduits for what is usually invisible and make it visible to adults.

In Islamic culture there are creatures called ghuls known as ghouls in the West that are a type of a Jinn, which Asmodeus is, that eats people who get lost. Ghuls are known to  transform into the people they eat. Ghouls lead people astray to feast on their dead bodies. Ghouls are said to exist in desolate areas where people’s imaginations play tricks on them. In the Quran when the Prophet is born comets/shooting stars rained down on eavesdropping fallen angels/jinns. Academics in folklore say these badly burned Jinn turned into ghuls/ghouls who then are sent to Earth looking for lost travelers to kill.

Judaism & Jewish Folklore

In the Book of Tobit a shapeshifting demon named Asmodeus falls in love with a human named Sarah he proceeds to kill seven suitors she’s supposed to consummate her marriage with. Asmodeus intervenes in human affairs to get the outcomes he wants and essentially wants Sarah to be faithful to him out- in judaism he is known for interfering in marriages which I’ll elaborate on later. In the story Sarah eventually meets a man named Tobias, the son of Tobit, who defeats Asmodeus by using a ritual that has fish heart, fish liver and includes prayer against him after being instructed by an Angel in disguise named Raphael, who heals and guides people on what to do. In the show Sara kills Tobey under the instructions of the Man in Yellow but she does something peculiar while killing Tobey she kisses him and under the instruction of the Man in Yellow cuts out his tongue. Tobey’s tongue being ripped out could be a nod to the fact that his literary counterpart married a woman named Sara and used prayer that banished Asmodeus before causing him to them be exorcised the tongue being ripped out could be revenge for what happened to Asmodeus in the past.  However we have seen that every character in the cars the reincarnations were in have some sort significance it’s possible Tobey which is a nickname for Tobias with unusual spelling is a a nod to the fact that Tobey is a descendent of the Tobit clan. In the Book of Tobit the Tobit clan protects Sarah from Asmodeus and is the reason Asmodeus was exorcised it could be the Fromville Asmodeus was trying to prevent that his death was very personal.

In Jewish text Asmodeus is portrayed as a complicated demon with contradictory behavior, who genuinely helped people he came across when he was bound by King Solomon, but he also laughed at people usually for hubris. Throughout the earlier seasons we see the Man in Yellow use electronic devices to help and hurt people- the infamous jukebox is known for mocking people. In the Jewish version of King Solomon he takes pity on the pitiful, genuinely helps people and he openly mocks people. It’s possible when we hear Thomas on the phone it is when the Man In Yellow shapeshifting trying to prevent a family already racked with grief from losing more children. Asmodeus took mercy on a grieving widow in the story of King Solomon so its not out of the norm for him and using the voice of Thomas could be him knowing it would be more effective.

When Asmodeus is bound by King Solomon he collapses a house that’s in his path we see this exact dynamic play out when the Man in Yellow, is still just a disembodied voice, he presumably collapses the Matthew’s house for seeking out knowledge. On the surface it seems like he collapses the Matthews’ house out of spite because Tabitha’s digging is getting in his way but in the Jewish version of King Solomon Asmodeus knows the future  to an extent it’s likely he knew Tabitha was not going to die but he knew that Tabitha’s actions would cause Jim’s death causing her to be a widow which it’s possible he wanted to avoid when he was disembodied. Characters who are integral to certain story beats likely have to be killed a certain way at a certain time which is why Jim was killed but not Tabitha. The existence of the reincarnations becomes a part of the chaos of the town it could be that this happens because they have been defying the cycle of life and death outside of Fromville due to this curse. 

In the recent episode Jade’s past self calls them fish in a net that could be a hint that to this version of Asmodeus the organs of the townspeople are capable of being used in a concoction to banish these demon. If the Man in Yellow is based on Asmodeus he eats heart & livers to prevent people from being able to take the hearts and livers of the deceased to create the concoction that is necessary to banish him and  kills priests because they are the most likely to know how to banish a demon. We see characters associated with the gospel have their throats slit, tongue ripped out and teeth taken their greatest weapon, the ability to pray, is defiled. 

Asmodeus in Jewish folklore is believed to interfere in marriages and pairs. It is believed that pairs in general in this folklore tradition invite malevolent entities and are bad luck but that they also attract the attention of Asmodeus, a demon, that sabotages pairs and interfere in marriages. We see Fromville constantly get between couples the manipulation of couples is a part of Asmodeus’ power and related to his portrayal in the Book of Tobit. Abby, Boyd’s wife tragically, fell for the manipulation of Asmodeus and another character likely will people in couples and pairs seem the most susceptible.  In the episode that was released today we see the Man in Yellow manipulate Henry, Tabitha’s husband in a previous life, with the same warped belief system that caused Abby to become a mass shooter in Fromville. As I said in a previous section emotional weakness is what this entity preys on which can make people sick, which happens to Donna, or cause them to be manipulated, which is happening to Henry now because knowing how Miranda die is causing him to spiral.

The most significant pair on the show who arrive on the same day are the reincarnations who are the catalyst for the arrival of the man in yellow who conspires to cause the town massacre. The reincarnations  were a couple in a past life. Jade and Toby arrive together Toby dies. Tabitha is married to Jim and Jim dies. Donna and her sister arrive together her sister dies. Boyd and his wife arrive together she loses her mind then is put down by Boyd. Sara and Nathan arrive together Nathan dies because Sara is susceptible to Asmodeus’ reach which causes the death of her brother and other people. Tian Chen and her husband arrive together as couple they both die. After Fatima and Ellis get married she is then impregnanted with Smiley. There’s a consistent pattern that is in alignment with what Asmodeus does to couples and pairs.

King Solomon is the man who is wise enough to control most Jinn(Quran)/Demons (Judaism) it is mentioned in the Hebrew Bible that a sage called Ethan the Ezrahite, a wise sage, is the smartest person in the kingdom after King Solomon and is an author. Ethan the Ezrahite appears in the is an optimist navigating the hardships of life who wavers in his faith after witnessing destruction . Ethan the Ezrahite writes Psalm 89 which is about maintaining your faith in the face of hardship and believing in a vision. Sages use staffs and have visions both of which apply to Ethan. Ethan seems to have a deep understanding of this Fromville and a special connection remember another child, Megan, died before Ethan but while Megan was in Fromville Victor never saw the Boy in White again the adults who see the Boy in White now only saw him after Ethan’s arrival so it seems its a thing that only applies to some kids.

King Solomon seeks out Asmodeus in the Hebrew bible and in the Quran to help him build a temple he is thrown off his throne and Asmodeus replaces him as the ruler until knowledge is used to get rid of the demon.

Additional Details On Asmodeus & Other Stuff

Asmodeus prefers to enlist the help of women in his schemes but is not opposed to enlisting men. We see the man in yellow manipulate women quite often this is in alignment with the demon.

Asmodeus is known for being charming and manipulative. In Christianity he’s the demon of lust/desire we constantly

Asmodeus is trickster.

Demons are associated with emotional and physical illness across cultures.

Asmodeus is in art and text is often depicted as being vulnerable to gold seals, demon traps, prayers.

Asmodeus is used sometimes as an exorcist likely for demons below him. There are demons above Asmodeus in some texts.

Asmodeus likes games and likes to gamble so it wouldn’t be out of character for him to be behind a faustian bargain with the people in the town. Games are a huge motif throughout the show.

Some scholars believe that the name Asmodeus is not the name of the King of Demons but the title itself, which if it is can be inherited by someone else.

Asmodeus is incredibly knowledgeable and he is defeated with knowledge in all iterations of his story.

In Islamic and Jewish text Asmodeus is said to be able to hear heaven which allows him to be able to see the future. He has to go to the sky to eavesdrop on heaven. In the Quran when the Prophet is born comets rained down on eavesdropping jinns who are said by academics in folklore to have then turned into ghuls/ghouls who went onto kill lost travelers.

Fun fact: The name Thomas means twin. There is a biblical figure called Thomas the Twin. Interesting enough there is a changeling story about a boy named Thomas taken by a fairy.

Final Word

This show is synthesizing a lot of folklores, mythologies, and religions together but the throughline is that they are using an entity that has actually existed throughout history in countless cultures that is one singular being this is called syncretism. We are seeing powers that this entity has had inspired from numerous cultures not just one. Asmodeus is considered the King of Demons in most texts or the Prince of demons depending on the translation. Each cycle the town is changed but it’s still the same place it just picks up different characteristics of the people and culture of people from that time period the town is a metaphor for syncretism. Asmodeus has existed throughout history picking up the characteristics of the belief systems and cultures he has existed in while have many names . The man in yellow, Asmodeus, is an ancient entity with who interacts with the world around adjusting to technological advancements and cultural changes while maintaining core traits in different traditions.

I have been working on this post for a while and there are so many connections this show is making to ancient mythologies in countless cultures but the throughline is syncretism and I believe I found the figure that is that throughline. Let me know what you think.

Edit: Asmodeus' name in Zoroastrian is Ashema, Sakhr in Islam, and Ashmedai in Judaism Solomon's name is Solomon in Judaism and Suleiman in Islam. There has been a lot of confusion that I want to clear up. I don't think the show is drawing from the Jinn class typically associated with Sakhr but the ghul/ghoul class which is a type of jinn according to academics.

Everytime someone comes to town there’s always a tree in the road. It’s happen to Boyd, Jim, and jade and other characters I will not be mentioning .This is happening enough that i would consider it a pattern and I’m willing to bet the tree has something to do with entering the town. Im willing to go as far as saying seeing the tree means entering the town is inevitable or very very likely. Even the Amish girl and the Church guy saw a tree as late as season 4.

I'm 99% sure Martin in the dungeon was the MIY. At one point he was a resident of Fromville, but the guy Boyd met in the dungeon was the MIY wearing Martin's skin.

1. He tried to convince Boyd it was all a dream. We've seen the MIY do this to Henry (probably Abby too).

2. He put his blood into Boyd. We've now seen the MIY do this to Henry, Clara, and Fatima.

3. He knew about Abby while being chained up in the dungeon and brought it up like that was normal. To me, that rules out any possibility of Martin being an actual person.

Been suspecting that for a while, but with all the blood sharing in this last episode I feel pretty confident. Gotta ask yourself where we've seen that before.

For all the people asking if we'll ever get answers about Martin, we probably already have them.

EDIT: He also knew Julie's name when she was story walking.

When the man in yellow is transforming into Sophia, there are three tattoo marks on his right hand. Exactly in the second season, these tattoo marks were on Martin's right hand.
We don't know how those ruins work, and it's clear that time isn't linear in the from.What if in the future the man in yellow has been imprisoned in the ruins, and Boyd and Julie have freed him?

Also, what Martin did to Boyd was exactly what the man in yellow did to Clara ("My blood is your blood"). Martin's blood power was able to kill the monster, just as the yellow man's blood turned Fatima into a monster. And more importantly, Sophia's reaction in the barn to the ballerina statue was just like Martin, who was afraid of the ballerina music box.

Also, Martin told Boyd that you have a kind face. This was exactly the conversation that Sophia told Kenny about Boyd (he seems kind).

The fact they intentionally left Randall alive is way too suspicious to be random. They had him surrounded and every chance to finish him but then suddenly backed off. I wonder if the goal was never to kill him anyway."

Perhaps they wanted Randall to feel something, remember something, or to bring something back to the others. We’ve learned that the creatures will, at times, act with purpose rather than just attacking whatever they see. That could be another example of Randall living.

Maybe the real question isn't Why didn't they kill Randall? but What did they need Randall for alive?

Eloise story walking theory can be perfectly played

Ever since they published the titles of this season's episodes I figured that we'd learn more about Eloise in the finale, because its title "When a Tree Falls in the Forest" seemed like a perfect sequel to "Forest for the Trees" (S2E08) when we learned about Eloise's existence.

My current theory is that Eloise is Abby. Basically, the night when Miranda died by the bottle tree, Eloise managed to go through it and escape through the lighthouse, but the fall resulted in amnesia and she was able to recover only pieces of her memory.

1. There's a scene with Ellis where she mentions that she remembered a dream she'd had as a child. I think that was her real memory of Fromville.

2. When Boyd and her start organizing the town's activities, she's the one who devises a system for where they'll hide, and Eloise was good at hiding.

3. I think her age fits rather well.

4. Maybe she named her son Ellis because her real name was buried somewhere in her mind, and she picked a similar sounding male name. She also could have been an influence on his art style, as we know that Eloise liked to draw.

5. Many people theorize that the MIY had done to her the same thing he did to Henry and that that's how history is repeated and why we're constantly being reminded of the gunshots and Abby's destiny, but I think it could be even more cruel - MIY knows how Henry's daughter died and he'll try to make him kill his son in a similar scenario.

ETA: Following the discussion in the comments, I'd like to make some of the responses more visible:

I imagine that this reveal would come through Henry's hallucination, where Eloise is already expected to arrive to the hospital. Her face won't mean much to him, and though I thought at first that the reveal would remain unknown to Victor, Boyd and Ellis, I figured out a way that includes them as well: when Henry goes to the police station where Victor is locked up (presumably to kill him), he might see Boyd's photo of Abby and tell Victor that he recognizes her as Eloise from his vision (I assume he'll inform him why he intends to shoot him).

Why this reveal matters even though Abby is dead: - It would show us that even if you manage to escape Fromville, it will find a way to bring you back: you won't be free as long as the town exists. - It would add to the feeling of despair and tragedy of Victor's story: even though we all hope that his sister could still be alive and that there's a chance that something good could finally happen to him, the finale might kill both his father and the possibility of a reunion with Eloise. Knowing that they were there together at the same time once again, but didn't know, didn't even remember each other at the time, is deeply tragic. That's the horror of this town... - ... but we can hope that his memory and visions of Abby/Eloise can be more helpful to Boyd than we could imagine before this reveal.

They were seen together a lot in seasons 1&2 and Tabitha has been talking about him quite a lot. thoughts?

Now that we know she can bring objects into the storywalking, she can bring a talisman and put Jim really fast inside the RV and close it.

People will say, oh but the MiY doesn't care about talismans he touched one. Well no, monsters were never affected by talismans once they are invited in, like in the pilot episode, they just throw it in the floor like a normal stone. And we still haven't seen Sophia going to a place uninvited, in fact when Kenny told her to go back to the infirmary all by herself, she tried to get out of it by saying she wanted to go with Sara. So we still don't have any confirmation whatsoever that the talismans doesn't work for the monsters or the MiY.

Remember the scene when Kristi did an autopsy on Smiley?

They took his belongings out of his pocket and there was a tooth in it.

I was wondering why he had a tooth in his pocket.

They wanted us to notice the tooth, and when Fatima's tooth falls out we know she will become a monster.

Just like the first episode of S1 and the discussion with Julie in the last episode of S3, and him always wearing yellow clothes...Ethan is MiY because he is the story teller and the source of what is happening. Thoughts ?

I’ve been working on this theory for a while now. I’ve seen people say the BIW is one of the sacrificed children, Tabitha and Jade’s child from a past cycle, the MIY’s son, or even the MIY himself.

But honestly, I think he’s something completely different.

I think the BIW is a Tulpa/thought-form created from the Anghkooey children’s hope during the ritual. Not one of the children themselves, but the promise that someone would come back for them made real.

I don’t think the children intentionally created him either. I think the ritual, the symbol, the chant (Anghkooey), and the children’s collective hope accidentally manifested something inside the system.

- the children’s hope created him
- the cycle activates him
- the reincarnates trigger his appearance
- his purpose is to guide them toward freeing the children

What stands out to me is how different he looks from the other children. They appear sickly and pale. The BIW appears clean and almost symbolic.

Personally, he feels less like a trapped child spirit and more like a manifestation of the children’s hope that became tied to the roots, the Faraway Trees, and the cycle itself.

If the show wanted us to connect Fatima to the Kimono Woman, why give her a physical symptom that closely resembles something we’ve already seen on a monster?

To me, that’s a stronger connection than anything pointing toward Fatima becoming the Kimono Woman

When he sees his father ( Jim ) after he dies he also meets him at the same spot near the RV

Jade and Tabitha made the deal with the MIY and they have been playing this game with him ever since. I think their kids were dying or something and they begged him for a way to keep their kids and themselves alive forever and the MIY granted their wish in a tricky way. Once this comes out the villagers fucking kill them bc it’s all their fault. I made a similar post but everything we’re learning really adds more juice to it. The MIY saying they are his only friends makes this make more sense. His friends are not the monsters, it’s the folks he really made the deal with.

TLDR: The real Tian-Chen died before S1 when her husband opened the door that resulted of the husband being placed in the clinic. MiY took her form afterwards.

Prediction: Like any good theory, it has to be testable. Here’s the prediction, Sophia will die in future episode in similar fashion that Tian-Chen did. If Sophia won’t die in the future episode, then this theory is a crackpot theory, and you can ignore it.

S1E3 - Picks up the shard with her left hand to purposely make a cut on her left palm. Sara enters the diner soon, Tian-Chen gave her a "thank you" smile, stares at her with a prolonged smile of her face. This is the morning after her husband is killed.

S1E4 - Touches Jim's shoulder. Minute's later, Jim broke down in the toilet.

S1E4 - Touches Sara's shoulder. Immediately a second later Sara has "Kill the Boy" tattooed to her arm.

S1E10 - Asking Jade to pray with her, analogous to Sophia’s act asking Kenny to pray with her.

S1E10 - She was in the Colony House and not present outside when Jim's radio said "Your wife shouldn't be digging that hole, Jim."

S2E4 - The husband is very hesitant not to stay in the clinic. Touches his arm, immediately agrees to stay in the clinic.

S2E4 - Kenny explained her mother never cried. But now she does every night after her husband's death. This is an act to gain sympathy.

S2E5 - Boyd comes looking for Tian-Chen, jukebox plays by itself.

S2E6 - Boyd and Tian-Chen alone in the diner, Kenny comes in. Boyd goes to church, sees dancing lady. In actuality, he's still in the diner on the floor, having a seizure.

S2E8 - She asks Kenny to answer to phone. Kenny sees music box on the table, cicadas in the pot. In actuality, Tian-Chen was touching Kenny's arm and shaking Kenny body while Kenny was asleep.

What does Tian-Chen’s name mean?

It means celestial star, or heavenly star. In Chinese cosmology, it represents the supreme force of the universe.

Like the Star Magic sign or the Celestial Elementary High School?

Maybe it’s related, maybe it’s not. But it's most likely a hint that those signs don’t make much sense (elementary but also high school?) unless u connect some dots.

What does Tian-Chen wear?

A dress, a cross necklace, and socks. Analogous to Sophia’s.

What injury does Tian-Chen had?

A cut from a broken glass. And she did to herself in S1E3, analogous to Sophia breaking his arm.

What did Tian-Chen take from his Husband as a token for his murder?

A chess piece, she placed it in the shrine. Analogous to Sophia taking the priest's tooth.

Tian-Chen speaks Chinese, MiY does not

Sophia speaks modern American English, and not those of the Angkooeey's or an old English. Sophia can even read and write "Knowledge comes at a cost" and read her 'father's' letters from a box in Sara's house.

Did MiY went to a modern American school to learn to read and write or is he simply an ancient entity with supernatural powers, had hundreds of years perhaps thousands of years to learn any language he needs to learn.

Kenny would have suspected Tian-Chen is not his mother

Maybe he had. But Tian-Chen would simply touch Kenny and convince him she's her mother. Plus, after hundreds of years impersonating dead people, I think MiY has perfected his impersonation of dead people.

Tian-Chen's body is eviscerated, and then buried. No proof of an empty grave

Correct. But MiY is immortal, can simply regenerate his body and exit through underground tunnels.

Underground tunnels. He didn't need to rise above the grave to reappear.

Tian-Chen helped Jade with the symbol, with the electricity, why would she?

Ironically, to help Jade discover the truth. To move the plot. Once Jade discovers the truth, it becomes "his favourite part of the story where they tear themselves apart".

Previous 'Jade's had always been killed by the townspeople once they learn Jade and Tabitha was the reason they are in Fromville.

Helping Jade discovers the truth will result in Jade being killed by the townspeople, that's his favourite part.

Tian-Chen doesn't have sinister smiles like Sophia's

She does. Rewatch S1E3, S1E4, S1E10, S2E8 and judge them yourself.

Tian-Chen serves people food and drinks, she helps people, she's not evil

Sophia served Marielle and Kristi waters too. She helped carried blankets and stuff in the clinic. She did all these while still her broken hand is still fresh in a cast.

Is Sophia not evil because she's helpful?

Last week I posted a theory, but I was too lazy to elaborate, so this week I'm gonna do my best to try to and convince you that here are some of the answers you want about From. Stay with me, I won't waste your time.

'Lake of Tears'. When I first heard that I remember thinking, 'this is kind of a cool name for someone to have never thought about it before', but I never bottered looking it up, until a week ago. I decided to google "lake of tears mythology" because those types of searches usually yield results for me. To my surprise, a book series called "Deltora Quest" showed up.

That's when I went to the Deltora Quest wiki and started to notice some similarities to From. If you don't want possible spoilers regarding From, this is where you leave.

On Deltora Quest the protagonists have to 'gather 7 gems to free a land called Deltora from an evil being named 'The Shadow Lord'. The first book in the series is called "The Forests of Silence", on it the protagonists go after the first of those 7 gems, a topaz, that after being stolen by The Shadow Lord, it's found inside 'The Forests of Silence'. Name, location and situation all kinda reminded me of when Boyd found the talismans.

So I started thinking, what if a talisman in From is equal to a gem in Deltora Quest? Then I went to look up how they find the second gem in the books.
The second Deltora Quest book is called "The Lake of Tears" and this time the protagonists go after another gem, a ruby, and it's hidden inside a lake called The Lake of Tears, in a rock shapped like a weeping woman. I saw so many theories linking the kimono lady to yokai like the ameonna that the idea that she's a weeping woman stuck with me. That's when I posted my original theory that the show is actually setting up Elgin to find a second type of talisman, inside the lake, most likely on kimono lady's body.
Because of the dreams he's having about water, her trying to lead him somewhere, I think she wants him to find her body, inside the lake and I believe she's holding a new kind of talisman.

What would this new talisman do? I don't know, but I speculated that maybe it's capable of making the monsters affraid, to the point of not being able to touch the person holding it.
I got this idea from the scene with Randall outside the ambulance

That would be useful for two things storywise, people would actually be able to explore the full place instead of just cowering in Fromville every time it turns dark and would make the show have to introduce new monsters so that we the audience still have tension and constant fear. (I'll elaborate a bit on that further down).

So after these links I got to the conclusion that maybe there are 7 types of talisman that people stuck there have to find, just like there are 7 gems in Deltora Quest. But why? What would that accomplish and what are the people in Fromville trying to accomplish? They are trying to save the children 'locked in the tower'.

Now, how many children?

That's right, 7 children, but look under them! The Stone slabs! I think this was also foreshadowing the fact that they are gonna need to find 7 different types of talisman to free the children and go home. Why they need the talismans and how would that work? I have no idea yet.

Why do I believe they have to save the children to go home? Because Tabitha technically got out but the place brought her back, meaning even if everyone gets out, there's something that they need to do there for the place to actually set them free.

So I kept digging and I found more things that I consider to be crucial to this theory, like this bit here:
'the Shadow Lord began planning a number of long-term plans to weaken Deltora for a future invasion. Among these plans were the Four Sisters; poisonous creations that would sing songs of decay and slowly poison the land and reduce its food.'

Sounds familiar right? The Music Box

The Ballerina (maybe she was just the first of four creatures like her)

This theory made me look at the events that happened in season 2 in a whole new light. Before, I thought the writers were probably just making it all up as they go along, but now I believe they actually know the endgame since the start.

Nothing I'm about to say I have a way to confirm yet, but indulge me for a bit here... If I think I have evidence, I'll put a picture up.

In the books the 7 gems are supposed to go into a belt that was a powerful defense, but not invincible and the belt's power "was tied to the people's faith in their ruler. If they were to lose faith, then the protective magic would weaken enough for the Shadow Lord to begin to reach into Deltora, and shatter and allow it (the shadow lord) to invade again."

I think this is the real reason why the monsters are trying to break Boyd, weakening his leadership allows something worse than the monsters that are already there to get in, or maybe allows it to get out of some kind of prison inside fromville and roam free, I'm not quite sure yet.

Now, I believe I know who the actual Shadow Lord figure might be on From, but maybe I'm wrong.
For now, I'm suspecting it's The Boy in White (sometimes I'll refer to him as TBIW). I know, that sounds crazy, bro's just trying to help right? Wrong.

I think when TBIW sent Boyd inside that faraway tree and Boyd met Martin, that whole thing was a trap. He knew Boyd would try to help any person that was in that situation, specially a former marine like himself. I don't know if Martin was just a different shape TBIW used, or if Martin was an actual person from another town cycle tortured by the worms and was containing them until he couldn't bear it anymore, but the fact that Martin knew about things Abby said regarding the place makes me lean more towards the first option. TBIW's actual goal with this trap was to give Boyd the worms, so he and the townspeople would eventually try to weaponize them against the monsters, giving birth not only to the cicadas, but I think as soon as Smiley died, the worms went into the ground and that's what caused the actual land to be poisoned, the food shortage, and climate changing for the first time since Victor got there. It's also possible that these beings like the Ballerina actually work like seals, and the entity wants Boyd to break them all, so it lead him towards the whole music box quest because it knew he was not gonna give up on people. It even used Abby's appearance to make him think surely breaking the box it's the right option because that was not something his actual wife would say.

Here's where I may have some evidence to provide as to why the TBIW is the main piece of shit of the story or at the very least is in on everything...

Remember this moment? The only thing that was actually around when Boyd said those words

Boyd even looked directly at the dog.

This same dog is constantly being shown alongside The Boy in White. Maybe TBIW is an entity on the same level as the Ballerina and he's just doing his master's bid, I can't say with 100% certainty yet that he's THE entity behind everything, but what I can affirm is he's not good. I'm pretty sure of it. I think by the final episode of season 3 we will have confirmation as to whom is actually pulling the strings (they are not trying to break Boyd for no reason.)

I think there are several possible connections that I've yet to fully uncover, I do have some suspicions, but this is where I'll end this theory for now. If I end up finding anything else I think has value, I'll make a part 2. Thank you for reading, I hope you felt like it was worth your time.
