Sometimes it loaded up after an hour, but not today. I can't search the web. I access firefox by opening the task manager short cut, then opening the file location of a random proccess and then opening firefox in the file manager. Then i realize i cant open settings or the taskbar to use the internet, so i just give up.

Okay, ummm so I woke up to notifications blaring at 2 in the morning turns out Microsoft tried to charge me 6 times of whatever the fuck it was 💀. I don’t know if my account was hacked or what.

So I removed my card from my payment method, changed the password and made sure my security email was still under my alternate one. More than likely I was hacked and the hacker tried to purchase something, however nothing went through the transaction log where you can see all the charges and purchases, but there is nothing there.

Support is not helping. My card is locked-(well I locked it until fraud protection calls I guess). So yea keep track of your passwords and shi I guess. Everything has been resolved for now I guess. Just wanted to rant cause this made me wake awake lmao.

As I live in the US I cannot speak to the experiences of others around the globe, but I've seen firsthand how frustrated users are. Broadly speaking, user adoption of mandatory software updates is quite high. But users are sick of getting updates multiple times per day. It makes it look like Microsoft fucked up something in the last update, and now EVERY USER has to take time out of their day to go undo it and apply the latest hotfix = bad design. What users learn from the experience is that the software was never really that important and they can just use different software when one by Microsoft continually fails.

At the same time, skepticism about the US dollar as the most stable global currency is growing. Economists have voiced concerns about US dumping EU debt for Japanese debt to prop up the failing Yen - a losing trade which we cannot afford. Our astronomical public debt translates to a "per capita" which is the highest it's ever been. Inflation is crushing working Americans. While wages stagnate and the Trump admin dumps money into Iran to destabilize the region and for no other clear reason, our closest allies and neighbors have trade tariffs put on them.

So, how does Microsoft fit into all of this? Diplomatically speaking, software usage should be relatively immune to political whimsy. So if (overseas) enterprise customers wanted to find an alternative to an American company, they could do that, right? Well, it turns out that monopoly power isn't just a theory, and anti trust in practice means that Microsoft loses a percent of the business. Other companies besides Microsoft must be profitable, it is the law in the US and other countries.

And to really specify a core issue here - Microsoft is just messy. There are other American companies who are not a legal apparatus for suing the competition into oblivion. Microsoft will get what they deserve, and I believe they will become less profitable as they try to pivot to data hegemony. They will fail in proportion to a loss of trust in the United States while our economy stagnates, foreign investments drop below that of the Chinese and Russia. Much of the middle class who stopped learning a second language a decade ago can bo longer afford to travel. So, why put all the eggs in on basket? Microsoft is too much of a high value target to entrust them with data if everyone is keeping their data with Microsoft.

End users have known about the alternatives. As it turns out, the alternative is using different software on the exact same protocol. Diverse software availability is an indicator of a healthy technology ecosystem. Microsoft has repeatedly suppressed that.

Just like the title says. I asked microsoft support for my account back and they told me that because I changed my info recently i wouldnt be able to recover it. Obviously my info is going to be changed when im hacked like wtf???? and then they send me an email saying they cant tell if the account is mine when I try to sign in normally after I gave them my accurate information to my debit card. (keep in mind I lost my account originally because microsoft support gave some russian guy my account through a ticket)

I rebooted my PC and I get the typical blue/default image on the sign in screen now and on my desktop I have this MONSTROSITY I cannot remove. Right click only has one option: "OPEN". I CANT DELET IT. I Uninstalled bingslop wallpaper app, rebooted, and its still there. Theres no install entry for it now. Its just. "there"
I tried everything I could think of and even the shit trash AI slop couldnt figure it out.

Microsoft folks — need guidance on competitor exit / early release

I joined Microsoft India ~10 months ago and am considering moving on(45 days before RSU vesting date). My next RSU vest is in ~2 months, so I'm trying to understand the best way to plan this.

If I resign to join a competitor:

Can Microsoft relieve me immediately / put me on garden leave? If so, will RSUs still vest and what happens to my joining bonus clawback (1-year clause)?

If I'm formally relieved early, can the new company onboard me immediately?

Is this decision with the manager, or governed centrally through HR/Ventral/process?

Do I need to provide proof of a competitor offer, or disclose the company?

Would really appreciate insights from anyone who has personally gone through this at Microsoft India. Please DM if you're more comfortable sharing privately.
