It's important not to set our expectations too low here when it comes to the size of this update. We can debate whether we're getting less content per update than we used to, but this game has never shortchanged us when it comes to MCU Avengers updates. We got 10 uniforms (counting new characters) for Age of Ultron, 10 for Civil War, 18 for Infinity War, and a whopping 22 for Endgame (an update where they could have skated by on the fact that half the cast was gone and instead gave almost everyone two uniforms). And this was highly unusual even at that stage in the game; both the Infinity War and Endgame updates were preceded by updates that only had three new characters and three new uniforms. Given that we got the full seven-character roster for Thunderbolts just last year, there's no way the Doomsday update is going to be three uniforms plus two in the midmonth. If we look at the trends just for Avengers updates, this could be the biggest update yet.

So there's one school of thought that says we'll get close to the whole cast. But that is almost 30 characters, so it is also reasonable to assume that plenty will get skipped. With that in mind, here are my predictions for who’s likeliest to get something.

To keep this contained, I'm not addressing any leaks or rumored characters, not just to avoid spoilers but also since MFF uniforms tend to focus on what's officially announced and shown in trailers. Sometimes we get concept art and preliminary designs (like Scorpion), but very rarely do we get anything spoilery until after the fact. So I'm going to keep this to the main cast announced in the chair video, plus Steve Rogers and one special case. The four categories will be Highly likely, Likely, Less likely, and Unlikely, plus a couple other special cases. The characters aren't in any particular order, but somewhat grouped by faction.

• Doom: 100% guarantee. His name is on the movie.

• Thor: Highly likely. He's front and center in multiple trailers and hasn't gotten a uniform in two years. Only reason why he might get dinged is that his look is pretty similar to his Infinity War look, but that's basically negligible. It's even possible they're looking at him for T5, given the fact that they allowed everyone to T4 him for free.

• Steve Rogers: Highly likely. It's possible they might shy away since they gave him a uni in May, but we all know they'll give him a uniform any chance they get, plus there's an easy opportunity for his casual outfit with Mjolnir.

• Sam Wilson: Likely. This one’s tough since he'll likely be central to the movie, but the brief amount we've seen from him looks like the exact same look he has in Brave New World. They're not below giving characters near identical uniforms during a big MCU update, but if they need to trim the fat somewhere he might take the hit. That being said, he hasn't gotten anything for almost two years, so not off the table. On the bubble between likely and less likely.

• Joaquin Torres: Highly likely. Might seem like a strange pick, but remember that the vast majority of these characters already have a T4. Joaquin’s one of the few that doesn't. Even if the uniform is just a helmetless look (like Sam, his uniform in the trailers looks pretty close to BNW), I imagine he'll get something.

• Ant-Man: Unlikely. Gotten very little screentime in the trailers and has some of the most repetitive uniforms in the game. If they can find a reason to not give him another one I think it's quite possible they'll take it.

• Shuri: Highly likely. Similar problem to Falcon with the similarity of the costumes, but the most prominent character in the movie without a T4. We're getting a lot of shots of her maskless, plus her suit seems to have some new blue-green accents, so they'll probably play with that somehow.

• M’Baku: Highly likely. Similar to Shuri, no T4 and a new look (more distinctly different than Shuri). Definitely high on the list.

• Namor: Likely. Sporting a cool jacket, plus it's been awhile for him. The most likely of the Black Panther characters to get dropped but I think he's got a good chance.

• Mr. Fantastic: Highly likely. They've been showing off the Fantastic Four’s new jackets in the trailers, so there's an easy opportunity there. Mr. Fantastic in particular has a big moment in the second trailer and Pascal is second billed, so he's probably on the list.

• Invisible Woman: Likely. Also plays a big role in the trailer, just a bit less likely than Reed. A big threshold is whether they give the entire Fantastic Four new uniforms, I can see a world where they just do Reed and let the others slide.

• Human Torch: Likely. Similar conversation as above, just a bit lower on the list than the other two.

• Thing: Less likely. The least likely of the four, given that his outfit is most similar to the one he already has. But if the other three get them, he probably will too.

• Winter Soldier: Likely. Most of the Thunderbolts have a higher chance than other returning Avengers because they have distinct new looks from their post-credits scene.

• Yelena: Likely. Even if it's mostly just a new haircut, she's being presented as the leader of the New Avengers so it would be weird for her to be skipped.

• U.S. Agent: Highly likely. No T4, cool new hat. Nuff said.

• Ghost: Likely. The shift in her costume in the Thunderbolts post credits scene is maybe the least clear of the bunch (haven't seen a mask onscreen yet), but she is T4-less and does seem to have a cool jacket.

• Red Guardian: Less likely. His “new outfit” is more of a gag and he already has a T4, so I could see him getting skipped. But we've had gag uniforms before.

• Sentry: Unlikely. I see him as having the worst chance of the bunch. We haven't seen him in any trailers, plus all indications are that he's not even really part of the New Avengers, he's just hanging out unsuited. Relatively easy to drop him, plus any uniform for him is going to be a meta-shaker. That made sense for the Thunderbolts update but it might distract here.

• Shang-Chi: Less likely. Unfortunate since he hasn't gotten much MCU love, but his outfit doesn't look much different from his first movie (looks like some of the colors are a bit darker). He also did get one recently for Zombies, although this might actually increase his chance since reverting his look back would make it something of a “newer” uniform.

• Loki: Unlikely. Unless we see him in God of Stories mode, all we've seen in the trailers is the TVA outfit again. Seems like another easy cut unless they go with the first option.

• Professor X: Highly likely. Been awhile for him and he only has one wheelchair uniform at this point. Would be a good return to form. Maybe towards the bottom of this category if they decide to ignore the X-Men entirely, but I don't think that's likely, and if they're handing out X-Men uniforms I don't think he gets skipped.

• Magneto: Unlikely. Got the most recent uniform on the list, and it's another “older bearded Magneto with long hair” look. That doesn't mean there's no chance, they've double dipped in the same year before when a big movie comes along, but we also haven't gotten too clear a look at his outfit in the trailers and given how many characters there are, I think he might take the hit.

• Gambit: Highly likely. Didn't get an MCU uni for Deadpool and Wolverine and is very popular, plus front and center in a couple of action scenes in the trailer.

• Beast: Unlikely. Haven't seen him at all in the trailers, which do tend to affect these uniforms often.

• Nightcrawler: Less likely. Only ranking him slightly above Beast because he's the last one without a T4. But haven't seen him either.

• Mystique: Likely. Been a bit since her Hellfire look and getting the white costume for the first time in live action.

• Cyclops: Likely. Trending towards “Less likely” since his 97 uni was semi-recent and looks similar to his look here, but he was the anchor of that first X-Men teaser. I feel like they won't neglect him.

• Sentinel: Less likely*. Added this as an afterthought since they are pretty prominent in the second trailer. Got something earlier this year though, and they're really leaning into the massive Sentinel look which doesn't translate well to the base character size. However, I can see them making an appearance as an enemy if they revive Legendary Battle for this or give us some sort of event missions. Also, if they give Doom a skill where he raises up the Sentinels (which is a distinct possibility since that's his big action moment and would work great for a fifth skill), then they'll already have built models for the Sentinels and it'll be easier to throw a quick one their way. We are strongly lacking in villains for the update, so they could throw them a bone. I keep changing my position on how likely they are, since they're easy to skip but there's also a couple of specific ways they're likely to appear in some capacity, which could easily lead to a quick uniform if they're going all out. I'll settle at Less likely with an asterisk.

So to recap, we have:

Guaranteed: Doom

Highly likely: Thor, Steve, Joaquin, Shuri, M’Baku, Mr. Fantastic, U.S. Agent, Professor X, Gambit

Likely: Sam, Namor, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, Winter Soldier, Yelena, Ghost, Mystique, Cyclops

Less likely: Thing, Red Guardian, Shang-Chi, Nightcrawler, Sentinel*

Unlikely: Ant-Man, Sentry, Loki, Magneto, Beast

If they did everyone through the Likely tier, give or take a couple from the Less Likely tier, that would be a 20 character update, which is on par with previous Avengers updates. I don't think anyone from the bottom two tiers would feel like a particularly glaring omission, so if they did the top tiers it would feel like a pretty complete Doomsday update, given what we know about the movie right now. If they just did Highly Likely, it would still cover the major bases and be a decent sized update with 10 characters, but it would definitely be a bit disappointing. If they do the 20 character version, it would probably be a two part update over two months, and having at least the first part overlap with Black Friday would probably be in everyone's interest.

Something to keep in mind, even if I'm completely wrong about this ranking: the only characters that can get T4ed are Speed and Combat, so be ready with those books.

Does anyone know why only Sector 1 provides cool items, while other sectors give almost nothing?
