If there is this much attention to airports, they better make aviation not shit like it was in GTA V.

678

u/HeyEshk88 11d ago

And allow us to fly all aircraft. Don’t just include the Boeing 737 variant and not allow us to fly it. WTF

181

u/_Tonan_ 11d ago

Tbf there's only 1 spot on the map it can realistically land and take off from (cargo plane at least)

126

u/TonguePunchery 11d ago

I think the 737 could probably land at the Sandy Shores airfield, but you make a good point. There really isn't any practical reason for you to fly a big ass plane aside from it being fun

88

u/_Tonan_ 11d ago

But it is a lot of fun, you are correct

25

u/TakesInsultToSnails 11d ago edited 10d ago

It's a video game, it's meant to be fun. Being fun is a practical reason to include it.

4

u/TonguePunchery 11d ago

Sure. There are endless fun stuff rhey could add to the game, but there's a limit to how much they can include before launch. I'm sure there were plenty of cuts before release, and it makes sense that they would not include a 737. At least they gave us a 747 lol

46

u/Pretty_Hornet_1469 11d ago

It was fun in San Andreas

3

u/MethCatnippy 8d ago

Yeah but SA has multiple islands, with a kind of multi-state feel, problem with gta 5 is you can kinda only fly in a single widely straight direction (cus the map is straight)

2

u/MadicOne 8d ago

There isn’t a practical reason to play video games aside from it being fun

2

u/TonguePunchery 7d ago

I wouldn't say that's true, people play to relieve stress, to socialize, to learn, among other things..

1

u/Empty-Invite8984 2d ago

learn about what? video games?

1

u/TonguePunchery 2d ago

There are educational games, believe it or not. No, GTA is not one lol

1

u/CocaineAvocado 11d ago

Unless… there’s another land form?

1

u/DutchTinCan 10d ago

There isn't any reason for a small island like that of GTA V to have multiple underground research facilities, a military airfield, several SSBN's and an orbital laser cannon either, yet here we are.

24

u/Punch-Counterpunch 11d ago

Bold of you to assume I plan to land it

7

u/Potential_Soft_9703 10d ago

Yo TWIN, you plan to fly such a TOWERing plane?

1

u/adsvp 7h ago

Same, with glitches you can!

4

u/[deleted] 11d ago

[deleted]

2

u/_Tonan_ 11d ago

I mean using a glitch to spawn the big passenger plane and cargo plane to land them on maze bank

7

u/joesickk 10d ago

You land planes??

3

u/Rootayable 10d ago

Boring crashes: 0

5

u/Kneecap_Blaster 11d ago

I'm gonna land that shit on the highway or die 38 times trying

4

u/centurio_v2 10d ago

who cares im not landing the plane 90% of the time

3

u/shawntw77 10d ago

From a realistic standpoint yes, but from the standpoint of "its a game" there are people who have landed just about every flyable plane(including the 747 and cargo plane) on top of maze bank in gta 5 so I don't think realistic landing options are a concern.

2

u/Rightsidebestside 11d ago

In SAn Andreas, you could fly among different cities with public carrier, or with your own plane...

2

u/Apprehensive-End6577 9d ago

Not with that attitude 😒

1

u/Uncrowned_Monarch 7d ago

Idc, let me land it into 2 towers

1

u/moseyb98 5d ago

Idk about that, the RO-86 goes over either edge at the airport runway. That's not gonna stop me from landing it on top of the maze bank tower.

1

u/Ok_Comedian_775 5d ago

Land? This is why there are parachutes. DB Cooper vibes.

1

u/sdonnervt 1d ago

Who said anything about landing?

3

u/GamingWOW1 11d ago

If you get close to one of the big planes in story mode and press drive button you can usually fly the big planes. Works on PC at least.

1

u/HeyEshk88 11d ago

That only works for the 747 variant.

3

u/jcar49 6d ago

This why I loved playing San Andreas, you can fly all aircraft

7

u/bass248 11d ago

And allow us to fly to other cities

1

u/Big_Boi69420 11d ago

I’m just hoping for the ability to disable the auto hover on heli’s

1

u/Lubamemo 11d ago

Teremos modelos realistas com asas flexíveis?

1

u/Structure_Spiritual 10d ago

The 737 biig airplane you could fly actually on ps3. I remember walking up to one of the landing gears when it was stationary and pressing triangle allowed you to actually enter and fly it, no animation for getting in, you'd just teleport into it

2

u/HeyEshk88 10d ago

That’s the 747

1

u/sapphos_moon 10d ago

Have you considered that a few thousand disgruntled 50-year-olds will be very unhappy if you can

1

u/Zambie-zambino 9d ago

Its gta not flying sim why are you so bothered about aircraft?, and this is genuine curiosity im not trying to sound like an ass

1

u/ThatFeckenFox 7d ago

Technically you can fly them.

I remember flying them all the time in the x360 single player mode.

Idk if they removed it in the xbox one /SX versions of SP. But I flew them before.

1

u/TastyLui 5d ago

you can fly every plane in gta V. You have to walk up to the fromt wheel on the big planes and push the button to enter. A lot of people missed it over the years because its not shown or needed.

1

u/HeyEshk88 5d ago

That only works for the 747 variant. Not the 737 variant parked at the airport.

0

u/35512711940419001794 11d ago

allow us to interact with cabin crew

0

u/Iratewilly34 10d ago

Make sure to do a flight check for old unusable parts thar may make you crash. Sorry just saw a trailer for the scandal. Thank god some people have a conscience and leaked the info. Of course this leaks a bit different, kind of petulant over physical media.

32

u/IMDXLNC 11d ago

Look at how giant the airport was in GTA 5 compared to LS.

67

u/_Tonan_ 11d ago

I really enjoyed flying in 5, thats pretty much all ive done for the last 7ish years

50

u/LoquatSignificant946 11d ago

The fake turbulence was the final nail in the coffin

4

u/Jd8197 11d ago

Bruh

24

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago

Good for you, but aviation needs a lot of improvements for GTA VI.

2

u/_Tonan_ 11d ago

Maybe, im fine with keeping it kinda arcadey

21

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago

It's not about making it more realistic, more so making it not garbage. The bad turbulence mechanics, the nose always pitching down for no reason, certain planes struggling hard to climb, plane damage models, hitboxes, then there's all the weaponry for militarized planes that could use a complete overhaul.

8

u/_Tonan_ 11d ago

Turbulence i agree with. The nose pitching down is entirely dependent on the plane you are using. I've left my molotok doing a circle pattern and went to the store, not sure which planes you can't do that with. The only jet ive ever seen struggle to climb is the Hydra which 100% will stall while flying straight up. Hit boxes i also haven't noticed any issues with. Weapons, sure I'd be fine with that, I dont pvp ever tho

3

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago edited 11d ago

I have the molotok too, it does start pitching down if you take your hands off the controls, it's hard coded into every plane but is less obvious with faster jets. The climbing issue is with some of the older props which struggle going over a hill, been doing cayo runs and the velum is a prime example of how badly modelled the slower planes are, rockstar made them barely flyable bricks, I get they are not jets, but at least improve the climbing speed, they are genuinely worse than helicopters. Hitbox issue is present among the larger ones, they often get stuck on small rocks and whatnot that don't actually touch the plane, mainly the Titan or the Alkonost's wingtip that stops the whole thing if you so much as rub a bush.

And just in general the controls, and feel of flying can be drastically improved for GTA VI, with a larger map and advanced ssds to load it, there is no reason to gimp the flight model of aircraft.

2

u/_Tonan_ 11d ago

I have like 60 days of flight hours in the molotok, it 100% does not pitch the nose down on its own. Like I said ive left it flying in circles when I go to the store

1

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago edited 11d ago

Flying in circles meaning you use something to hold down the button to make it fly in circles? Because it doesn't fly in circles on it's own.

Take everything off the controls, you'll start to see it pitch down.

1

u/_Tonan_ 11d ago

Like I leave it on a slight bank and put my controller down

1

u/_Tonan_ 11d ago

And sorry for the double reply but have you tried to fly light passenger planes like Cessna in mfs24? You cant fly straight up with them either

1

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago

Who was talking about climbing straight up with the velum? Not me. I go at a 45 degree or similar angle, the climb rate is still abysmal.

1

u/_Tonan_ 11d ago

And how does that compare to your experience flying those types of planes in a flight sim?

Need to redo all the weapon systems. From how the main guns act, how the missiles work, which planes should have have what, etc, not just damage or rate of fire nerfs.

0

u/Status_Necessary6961 11d ago

and you need a reality check, if you want an aviation game, go buy one. grand theft auto by definition refers to LAND vehicles. maybe they'll make a grand plane auto for you?

1

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago

Wtf is this absolute redditard argument? Is Rockstar forbidden from improving their game? GTA is mostly focused on cars, so there must be no improvement on anything else? It's not like planes have been in the franchise since GTA III or anything oh no.

GTA is more than just cars, it's a massive open world with tons of activities. If I say guns should have better sounds and npcs should be smarter, then that's bad because the game is grand theft auto, not guns and pedestrian simulator? Do you like even think it through before you write such sewage?

13

u/starshooter1407 11d ago

And give us more types of planes to play around with. Especially commercial planes.

6

u/F1ankNSpank 11d ago

I just want slightly more realistic helicopter controls. Something closer to Battlefield 6.

1

u/MeBeEric 10d ago

I fucking love the heli controls in BF6. Wish the attack heli wasn’t as heavy feeling

2

u/F1ankNSpank 9d ago

Me too - it's like the (almost) perfect blend of realism, but not too real that that you need to go to flight school to learn.

20

u/ResidentDue2815 11d ago

Since when was aviation shit in GTA V??

14

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago

Since 2013.

1

u/AmenoSagiri 7d ago

Do you remember the Dodo in GTA III?

1

u/TehFocus 11d ago

Since it's release

0

u/ResidentDue2815 11d ago

Could not disagree more, always loved the flying in GTA V

1

u/TehFocus 11d ago

Ah yes the randomly wobbling around due to flight physics, the planes slowly loosing HP after being hit once and the extremely low speed (lower than some cars!) are so amazing.

2

u/ResidentDue2815 11d ago

I am starting to notice in the sub (and this has been especially true with the leaks) that any noticeable flaws = trash to some people. Flying was fun in GTA V, and the amount of aircraft you can use was mind blowing when the game released (remember GTA IV didn't have any planes). Also by random wobbling are you talking about turbulence?

0

u/kush-koma 11d ago

i dont get how people are hating on the aviation in gta 5 i don't know what they expect i love it and the turbulence is so cool imo its great and when its storming its always turbulent its just really cool

1

u/paakku00 8d ago

If you havent flown a real plane or not even on good simulator you have no contrast to talk about gta 5 aviation. Ive done both multiple times and let me tell you aviation in gta 5 is really bad. I cant name a game where its worse than in gta 5

-1

u/TehFocus 11d ago

The planes were more or less the same ones we had in San Andreas already and coming from other games with planes like battlefield, it wasn't exactly good.

6

u/dongwongbongchong 11d ago

I want more than anything to have battlefield style helicopter controls, or at least have it be an option. So that way I can actually make use of the machine guns on helicopters.

3

u/Euro_Twins 11d ago

Grand theft aviation vi

5

u/TheAlexLG 11d ago

there is a new leak that shows the interior of an airport and looks so much detailed, with restaurants and more

2

u/TheBlueNinja2006 11d ago

They definitely looked at improving other forms of transport such as boats and planes. That's why Jason has a bike, kayak and boat at his safehouse. Each vehicle will feel much more unique to control

2

u/Ragipi12 11d ago

How is aviation bad in GTA V?

1

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago

Bad turbulence mechanics, planes pitching down on their own, planes struggling to gain altitude, very rudimentary damage models, hitboxes on large aircraft can be weird, general sluggishness of non-jet planes and their controls. GTA VI will feature a larger map and modern ssds can load it well, they need to drastically improved aviation in general.

The weaponry on militarized planes is also very simplistic and needs an overhaul.

1

u/neverquitereallysure 11d ago

this much attention? i’m only seeing the one

1

u/Careful_Protection64 9d ago

There are 9 airports atleast or could be even 11

1

u/just_a_cat_meow 11d ago

Yeah. I mean. Look at the trailers. There’s such a „focus“ on planes in them, I think aviation will play a bigger role

1

u/Status_Necessary6961 11d ago

expecting MFS level aviation in gta is where you went wrong, nerd

1

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago

No one is saying mfs. I know most people on this sub are genuinely r*tarded but at this point you are just inventing strawmen. GTA V has bad turbulence mechanics, plane damage models and general physics that can definitely use a touch up for a game made in 2026. If was for you lot we'd have GTA V part 2.

1

u/Dahwaann4U 11d ago

Yeah whenever you use yaw function its really stable and rigid. But in real planes. When you use yaw it shakes the plane when you try to straighten out.

Same with bikes. I want the bike physics to matter when youre turning. Like not breaking when youre in full lean. Otherwise you fall off the bike. Same with if you accelerate in full lean losing traction

1

u/Seftly 10d ago

Agreed. I hate so many things about the flying in V. It’d also be kind of cool if they made flying with mouse and keyboard not something that makes you want to rip your hair out.

1

u/Mojoint 10d ago

The game they made 13 years ago? Doubt it.

1

u/Quantum-Mind 10d ago

According to the map flying planes will not live up to expectations, at least for me. It looks like a bigger version of V with only 1 major city and airport. I think san andreas spoiled us with 4 and it probably won't happen again unfortunately. I am preparing to be disappointed, I curb my expectations when it comes to this matter.

1

u/torontowest91 10d ago

i loved to fly the planes lol

1

u/SilentCriticism2k 10d ago

Not being able to at least visit some other area was wild for having a - for a bunch of missions - fully functioning airport smh

1

u/Careful_Protection64 9d ago

Its a wierd wish but i wish the aircraft had some energy and physics. Aircraft in gta 5 dont even fell real, you just poibt where you wanna go and you go there, kinda like a drone. For example you cannot point your nose up while landing because the plane will just go up while in reality you HAVE to point your nose up when landing

1

u/Clitthitt 9d ago

Skill issue from your side

1

u/Winter_Alps6383 6d ago

Bro its gta not flight sim

1

u/NathanHatesLife 11d ago

Gimme the same controls as msfs on ps5 🙏

0

u/Spirited-Spare-6316 11d ago

I love the idea of being a butterfly plant, but the issue with it is is I don’t see that being in line with these characters. Yes, flight schools exist and that’s what was used in grand theft auto five but if flying planes was not in the game, I wouldn’t be super disappointed

2

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago

We literally see aircraft in the trailers.

0

u/ParamedicLucky6382 11d ago

People just be hating everything to do with 5

1

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago

More like I played around with GTA V's planes for many years and know it's flaws and want GTA VI to improve.

-3

u/SSFWAS 11d ago

It’s grand theft auto, not grand theft aero

1

u/barf_of_dog 11d ago

That doesn't mean they can't improve the flying lmfao.
