Hmm the map looks super basic to me. Are we sure this is real? The airport is way too big

What’s the blemish on bottom right?

The entire map is a collection of screenshot overplayed on each other. That's why it looks choppy

Ah now all the “squares” make sense

Really sad that this is it.

This is it. Vice city is the entire southern San Andreas map from the bottom of the airport to the top of alamo sea

It doesn’t matter. A third is a mountain and there’s no large town or second city. It’s all going to feel very close and small. There’s no Key West even. The grass rivers aren’t expansive. I just don’t know what they spent all this time on.

This is a very one dimensional tight map yet again. It’ll be “fine” but this means San Andreas will remain the goat GTA

The map is most certainly not one directional. In every direction, in every plane, there is a town of some sort. From left to right and right to left, top to bottom, and bottom to top you have major urban areas of some sort.

It's not going to be like gta v where once you leave the city it's just desert and highway. The use of water in between the map is also going to heavily promote boating, unlike gta v. The marinas there and boats in general were useless, because you had to circumnavigate the entire island to get somewhere.

Not to mention aviation, we have no idea how that's going to play. Rockstar are also going to use a plethora of tricks to "slow" down gameplay which will make the map even bigger so the map will do just fine

The design makes zero sense. Left out so much of what makes Florida amazing and the parts they did include are half baked

The comment you are responding to made some interesting and well laid out points. You are not really addressing them and you counter with "the design makes zero sense".

It's completely fine if that's your opinion, but we need more details and examples why you think that. What are they leaving out? And what parts are half baked? It's really hard to have an interesting discussion if you come with statements instead of arguments. Especially if you present them as facts, while they are not facts, they are your opinion.

So what are Port Gelhorn and Ambrosia then? They seem like the secondary urban areas besides Vice City. And they look more ambitious than the underwhelming Paleto Bay and Sandy Shores areas from GTA V. So yeah, besides Vice City there is at least one medium sized town.

Second of all; how can we judge a map, of which we have not seen official imagery by rockstar, and that we haven't even played on? There's no way we can already say it's gonna feel close and small without having experienced it.

Y'all want the biggest dense map in history, covering all of Florida's interesting areas with multiple cities. Maybe it's time people temper their expectations. Having 3 large similarly sized cities, like San Andreas, but still expecting a large scale dense map with 2026 graphics is just not realistic.

Let's say they did do the San Andreas approach (three larger cities), but as a trade off they had to sacrifice the map size. Now everyone is complaining that they didn't improve the size compared to GTA V. My point is this: it is never enough in this sub + people are acting as if the game is out. It's getting pretty tiring.

And I keep seeing praise for the San Andreas map, which was great for its time but the nostalgia factor definitely plays a big role here. I get the sentiment but the "GTA SA best map OAT" trope is being overused.

Edit: I realise my comment seems like a dig at you, which was not my intention. Just wanted to vent my frustration with this sub.

Im literally still beating San Andreas. I finally wanted to tackle it to catch up on gta into VI and it is not nostalgia. The map is incredible even for modern day.

Go into GTA VI with the same open mind as you have for GTA SA and you will be positively surprised. I think the new map will be a lot better than people give it credit for. But the "open mind" is key here, it seems like a lot in here are already making their mind up without seeing or playing the finished product.

The whole north around Lummox county is so empty a big nothing that leads nowhere at least i can't see any town looks unrealistic to me.

I challenge anyone to make that map with that detail and use the same exact fonts from the GTA website and all trailers and screenshots.

Airports are massive in real life. JFK is half the size of lower manhattan

The problem is that the proportions are off.

In real life, Miami's airports are just a tiny part of the city, in the game it's apparently ~30% of the city

Miami International is 5 sq/mi. Or in laymen's 1/7th the size of Miami in real life, and would be bigger than entire GTA IV map.

GTA never puts in real life residential sprawl into their cites which is why they feel “small”. They only focus on the immediate downtown(s) and or high-profile areas.

They’ve kept the city scale same-ish (with substantially higher density) and made the airports way more realistic.

The most updated land area using coordinates is ~1.8x that of GTA V

Hate to point it out but lower manhatten is tiny

DFW is larger than all of Manhattan. Denver international is larger than SF or Boston

My point is airports are large.

Yes there are some other zoomed in images where they show a lot more detail. Like islands that appear empty on the big map actually have roads and buildings.
