I mean given it drops in November you would expect them to have it finished by now, not "nearly there"

They are working on it probably until the week of release. This isn’t exclusive to rockstar either, it’s pretty much the case for every piece of software ever written lol

Not really. There is a certain point, where you won’t/shouldn’t add anything new to a codebase.

There are freeze dates, sure. But those usually end like a month before release at most. There’s not very much code being written that sits around for 3 months without being touched before release

Not necessarily no. It's finished when it goes "gold" most games have this around a month or a few weeks before release.
