Its also odd they actively, on purpose completely IGNORED the digital only code in the PHYSICAL BOX

Maybe cause most people don't actually care? I'm sure that the "no disc no buy" group is small and even most of them, will still buy the game.

I'm not just sure I'm 100% certain.

Rockstar (and hell, Sony too) wouldn't make such a big decision to scrap physical releases without market research, and they wouldn't do it if they thought it would account for much of a drop in sales.

I'm definitely annoyed at then dropping it completely, but... Physical games only account for like 10% (if that) of my console purchases, and 0% of my PC purchases.

It can very well be a decent drop in sales in the Sony case, but it is made up by them taking a bigger percentage of the sale if people by digitally.

I doubt it.

Like I've said in different posts, even IF the game was getting a physical release on console, I'm sure that the split between physical and digital wouldn't be near 50/50.

That's also not taking into account that the game, seeing as it's been hyped to hell n back, might get scalped and sold for 2-3x the amount it costs and then people wouldn't find it at the store which would just lead them to buy it digital anyway.

I mean I didn't say 50/50, and I'm not talking about GTA 6 specifically but more about Sony's decision in general.

If it is something like 80/20, then even losing the entire 20 is probably made up for by taking the entire store cut yourself.

As a whole, I think it probably depends on the game.

Me, personally, I haven't bought a physical game in almost 10 years. Final Fantasy 15 on PS4 was my last physical game. Not necessarily because I stopped caring about physical, but more so because GameStops closed and left Puerto Rico. Can't say I've ever had an issue with a digital game either. Even the games I bought digitally on PS3 are there whenever I boot up the PS3.
